Chapter 103 She Was Set Up
DONALD (THIRD POV)
Donald was in a tight situation.
Staying up all night to think about how on earth he was going to kill Elijah was taking a toll on him and he couldn’t take it anymore.
He had thought about every way that he could but it wasn’t working out. Everything he thought about always ended with him being dead and he couldn’t let that happen.
He had been thinking about how he would get to Lisa that had been captured by Alpha Elijah. Right now, she was the only one that could help him in this time.
But there was no way to reach her.
There was going to be a meeting tonight because the full moon was tomorrow and for the first time since he joined the Cult, he didn’t want to attend a meeting.
He knew that they were going to talk about his failure and it scared him. He has been the one to say that he would be able to kill Elijah but now, he was having serious issues with it.
He didn’t have the appetite for food and he couldn’t sleep either. With his eyes wide open, he wondered if he should really give up the chance to get the powers of the special wolf.
But this was something that he had been hoping to get for years.
He had been dreaming about it since he learnt about it and he couldn’t even fathom the greatness of what he was to get.
He had seen the way the other members flexed their powers and he knew that it was going to be his turn too.
So he did everything that he could just to make sure that it worked out like that. He bribed people and got information so that the members of the cult would like him.
But clearly, that didn’t matter to them because even after all that he had done for them, they still treated him like this.
“Alpha, we have a problem.”
He had heard the guard but he didn’t feel like answering him. The word problem and his present mood didn’t seem to go hand in hand.
What was he going to do?
He knew the Grandmaster had it out for him. If he didn’t kill Elijah before they found the special wolf, he was going to die.
And there were no two ways about it.
The only thing he could do was sit back and hope that things would work out in his favor somehow.
“Alpha, we have a problem.”
He finally looked up at the guard who seemed intent to let him know that there was a problem.
“What is it? Can’t you see I’m busy thinking?”
“My apologies, Alpha, I just got news that there have been some movements spotted near the border.”
That surely got his attention immediately.
“What do you mean movements? And what border are you talking about?”
“Our border. We suspect rogues.”
Rogues? In his pack?
That was something that had never happened before. What could they be doing here? He stormed out of the house determined to get to the bottom of this.
But the truth in fact was that there were no rogues.
It was all a plan.
Just a few hours ago, the same guard had woken up in an unfamiliar place, bound at his hands and legs. When the blindfold was taken off him, he looked around scared.
“I will get straight to the point because I don’t have the time to joke around. You will do as I say or else, I know where you stay and I know where your family lives. I will kill all of you. Do I make myself clear?”
He nodded immediately, not caring what he was being asked to do. He needed to protect his family.
“You are a guard in Alpha Donald’s pack. You will go back there and tell him anything. Tell him anything you know will bring him out of the house and bring him to the border. As soon as he gets to the border, kill him and bring me his head.”
He didn’t understand what he was being asked to do. How could he kill him? That was his Alpha and he has served in this house for years and now, he was being asked to kill him.
“Or if you don’t want to kill him, I can kill your family in front of you and then kill you after. Don’t worry, it will be painless.”
The thought of his wife and kids dying for something they knew nothing about didn’t sit right with him.
His wife was heavily pregnant with their third child.
He needed to do something to protect them and that’s what he did.
As the Alpha walked ahead of him toward the border, he apologized to him in his heart, telling him that he didn’t mean to do this.
As they both made their way to the border, his heart beat rapidly in his chest and he wondered if he was doing the right thing.
The sharp edge of the knife poked his thigh and he had the chance of running away with his family but how far would they get before that man got to him?
So he brought out the knife.
ELIJAH
I’d never hated myself any more than I do now.
I’d sent guards out to search for her but they all returned with no news. They said they lost her scent somewhere in the forest and the worst things went through my mind.
Where could she be?
Had the cult taken her?
Maybe her father had gotten to her.
Or maybe rogues or whatever wild animal was out there.
The fear of what would have happened passed my mind and I couldn’t stomach it.
She had her wolf now, which was my only consolation.
I couldn’t mindlink her though. I just hoped that she would reach out to me.
I’d gone out with them to search for her at some point but nothing turned up. It was like she just disappeared in the middle of the forest. Her scent stopped at a particular location.
I had messed up badly. The sisters had told me about this and I’d screwed it up.
How was I going to get her back?
The full moon was tomorrow and it would take me at least a week to get to them. Because I needed their help tracking her down.
Hazel finally agreed to speak to me but she said that Adriana didn’t say where she was going.
It made me worried. There were so many people out there searching for her and they are not good people. She may have her wolf now but that didn’t mean that she could protect herself all of a sudden.
I wanted to trust her skills but at the same time, I couldn’t.
There was a knock on the door and Hannah entered. As soon as I saw that it was her, I looked away from the door and continued with my thoughts.
“So that’s what you’re going to do? Ignore me?”
That’s exactly what I did. I ignored her.
Aiden had mentioned something about Adriana being set up but he didn’t have all the facts yet so he didn’t want to say anything. I told him to make his findings and come back when he was ready.
Now that I think about it, Adriana would never do a thing like that. She knew about his allergy so she would never make the mistake of making him a chocolate cake.
I was just angry that day that I didn’t even think.
“Why are you doing this to me? Why do you keep treating me like I don’t matter?”
I didn’t even know that she was so close to me until she touched me on the arm. I snapped out of my thoughts and jumped in fear.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
“I should be asking you that. Why do you keep running away from me? I know you want me.”
At this point, there was no use being nice.
“Guards!”
The guards at the door rushed in.
“Throw her out and the next time you let her in, I’ll kill you.”
Right now, I wasn’t in the mood to deal with her or anything that came with her. I just wanted to think about how I was going to find Adriana and bring her home.
“Elijah, you can’t throw me out. Let go of me!”
She kept shouting until the guards took her outside and shut the door. I was at the end of my rope with her and the last thing I needed was more reasons to throw her out of the house because right now, I had a million reasons to do so.
No one in the house liked her and not even Leo liked her.
She wasn’t just on the list of things I deemed as a problem right now or else I would have gotten rid of her already.
Tomorrow was the full moon. Where would Adriana go to be safe from the cult?
Where was the one place the cult won’t go?
