Chapter Ninety Three
Chapter Ninety Three
Keira's Pov
Beheaded?
What was he saying? Did he really mean what he said? Was he going to behead me?
Wait… I didn't understand a thing of what was going on.
“Lying, and fooling us. Using us, deciding to settle in a life that's not yours. I just knew it. Everything with you was terribly wrong.” His teeth were gritted, and I could feel he was barely holding back from striking me.
“But… I t…told you. From the very beginning, I've always told you that I'm not L… Luna.” I protested softly, stepping a foot backwards from him.
“It's natural for everyone to find that fact unbelievable at first, but you should have kept on telling the truth. Will you pretend that there wasn't a time you tried to make us keep believing that you were Luna? You even tried to stop us from having the concubines. You did so many things to make us believe you were ours. Damn you for that.” His voice grew louder with each sentence, and eventually he shoved me aside harshly.
“Zane, for now, we can't dwell on punishing her. First, we have to find out how to get Luna back.”
“I don't want to care. Tell me everything. Now!”
“Everything?” I stepped back once more. He couldn't take the whole truth in this state. He was going to go crazy if he heard it, “Luna and I switched bodies. I'm still trying to find a way to get her back. I've done all I can, and about trying to take over her life, that was never my intention. I want to return too, you…”
“I see. So you've been an enemy of Luna's, and using dark magic, you managed to switch bodies with her, right? I'll show you why dark magic is prohibited. You will be an example to others who still do it.”
“I'm lost here. You mean she's a witch, not Luna?” Caleb asked, rising to his feet, while I shook my head vigorously, “So a witch slept with us, dined with us, and even spent the full moon with us? A witch…”
“I'm not a witch!” I screamed, my lips trembling, “Dark magic? Wh… what's that?? That's crazy! I am innocent. You cannot…”
“She's not a witch,” Ryder said.
“She's one, if I say so. I'm going to behead her.” Zane replied, coming to get me, and I screamed, tripping, and landing hard on my butt.
“No! Zane, wait!” Ryder said, only for Zane to slash out his claws, and strike Ryder across the chest. Ryder retaliated, pushing Zane backwards aggressively, and the two launched into a fight, with Caleb trying to stop them.
Quickly, I rose to my wobbly feet, and ran out of the throne room. Nobody could stop the mad alphas except their mate.
Damn, it was a bad idea!
I couldn't even dare speak to Maini. She knew this. They were her mates. She could see Zane wouldn't take this lightly, but no, I hadn't listened.
What would I do??
The guards saw me run, raising my gown high, so I wouldn't trip on it, but thankfully, they didn't even get alarmed in the least.
I dashed towards Zane's room, since it was the only place I knew that could lead to a hiding place.
I went past the guards who stood at his door, and locked it.
What would happen if they told Zane I went in, but didn't come out?
The room was neat and clean, nothing out of place. If only I could hide under the bed, sleep, wake up, and realize that it had all been a nasty dream.
‘The windows. Make them think you went down.’ Maini said from within, clearly annoyed.
I ran to the curtains, yanking them back, pushing the windows open, before going to get bedsheets, frantically tying them together.
‘Wait. You don't have time for this!’ Maini screamed.
“If we want to make them believe this, then we have to do better. Do you think I can jump down from such a height without injuries? I'll put this down, and make them think I slipped onto a balcony on the way.” With trembling hands, I threw the combined blankets down, and tied the part I held to the window fiercely.
Yes, it was a job well done.
Quickly, I located the loose floor board, tapping around.
“Where the hell is she!?” I heard Zane roar, and I gasped, turning to look at the door, “If anyone sees the Luna…”
‘What the heck are you doing!? Get down there!’ Maini screamed, and I pushed the floorboard open, slipping into it as Zane gave
order for guards to find me.
Just as I slammed the floorboard shut, I heard the guards.
“She came into your room just now.”
My heart was thumping in my mouth, as I made my way down the dark stairs, buckling knees threatening to push me down, and tumbling to the ground.
I raised my long gown, regretting that I'd chosen to wear the gown.
Now, where do I go?
Hot tears welled in my eyes, as I turned down different paths, left, right, up, down, just twisting down the corridors without even knowing how I was going to get back out.
My heart pounding hard within me was the only thing I could hear as sweat poured down my body in torrents.
Then I slipped, and unfortunately let out a screech, as I tumbled down a set of stairs.
My gown wrapped around my head as I went headfirst, skidding down, rolling and tumbling,
And then, this time, I was struck hot! Luna's memories came pouring in, but I couldn't even scream to stop them from coming.
Everything began to fade away. I bit my lip hard, since I couldn't scream, as my name threatened to slip off the pages of my mind.
And then, suddenly, everything went blank.
I was surrounded by utter darkness, and in the distance, I could see a white light shining like the end of a tunnel.
Was I in my head?
The place seemed to echo as drips of water sounded from somewhere faraway, and then I heard someone call in my own voice.
“Keira! Can you hear me? Are you there? Surrender!”
