Chapter 94: Chapter Ninety Four

Luna's Pov

I rose to my feet sharply, my chair scraping backwards behind me hastily.

“I got a… a letter from the MoonCub!” I squealed, my feet bouncing off the floor as I jumped, before running around.

“Wait, what? Come here! Bring it!” Nikkie shouted, coming to me, as I ran around the room, unable to contain my energy.

“Wait, Luna, let us see!” Elaine cried, and they all crowded around me, passing the letter among themselves.

I went down onto my knees, covering my mouth to muffle my scream.

“I'm going back home!” I cried, suddenly feeling the overwhelming need to let tears down. Damn, my throat burned.

“Okay, let's not get too excited!” Emily screamed, even though her face was pink with shock and excitement, “This so-called MoonCub might, and might not help. We can't rejoice until we know for sure. We have to see this person first!”

“Emily's right. I swear I might break down if my heart is broken again. The first thing to do is see this MoonCub.”

“Got it. I'll go now.”

“Okay, hurry up!” I said, dashing out the door excitedly.

Hurriedly, I dashed up the stairs, climbing as quickly as I could.

My heart was pounding in my chest.

Zane— I would see Zane!

His face flashed in my head. His lovely smile, those beautiful green eyes. The way he hated to be flustered, and the way he loved me.

In my head, I only have very few memories of us. How we met, I didn't know who we were to each other, I didn't know either, but those precious moments that I could remember made me know that he was someone special to me.

By the time I had gone a few staircases, I was exhausted, breathing hard, as I tried to climb my way upwards.

It was almost evening. Damn, I'd wasted hours on these stairs. Where the heck were the elevators and the secret passageways?

By the time I got to the very top, my knees crumbled, going weak instantly.

My hands went down along with my knees onto the cold floor as sweat dripped down my head.

“Damn you, MoonCub.” I breathed out, my chest heaving heavily, “You took me through this painful journey.”

As I rose, I staggered, hitting the wall.

“Damn, her body remains ever weak. What is all this?”

I managed to stand upright, and walked into the hall.

Did this MoonCub really see me with Lenny? Perhaps they saw love overflowing for the stranger who made me want to have a baby.

And poor Lenny, was she perhaps waiting for me? What if she heard I was leaving so soon? Wouldn't she be heartbroken? Because I could tell she liked me. She was only pretending not to because she'd probably learned not to grow attached to people, given her situation.

As I moved farther into the corridors, I began to see uniformed maids, standing alert, looking like soldiers despite their positions.

They turned, their gazes trained on me, harsh and sharp.

And then they began to form a barrier, lining up so that the narrow hallway was blocked. No path for me to go through.

I thrust out my hand, extending the letter.

Damn, if I hadn't come with the letter, would they have made me go all the way back? After I almost died while trying to climb the stairs?

The maids read it, passing the letter to one another, before clearing the path.

Then one of them beckoned to me with her finger. She was insane.

Me. A whole Luna.

I followed her, and she led me into a room that seemed like a hotel suite. Like the kinds I'd seen in magazines, and the movies Emily watched. It was an elaborate room, painted in cream. White sofas, a floor-length window, and the best part of it was that it even had a mini swimming pool right in the room.

Then the maid began to take off her clothes.

“What are you doing?” I asked her, stepping backwards since her odd behavior was startling, but she didn't reply.

She continued till she was stark naked. I took my eyes off. Then she stepped into the water, going down the little stairs before beckoning to me with her fingers.

I let my gown slip down my shoulders, but didn't take off my underwear, before following her down the path she'd taken.

The water was lukewarm, inviting, and so comforting that I could just sit in it.

Finally, we were submerged in the water, our arms and legs shooting out, so we could cut across the water peacefully. Surprisingly, the water was quite deep, and stretched underground.

Wow! This lady didn't even warn me! Keira's lungs were trash! What if I badly needed to breathe?

She stopped when we were well underneath the ground, several feet away from the opening, and then she drew a strange sign on the floor of the water, and a path opened.

We swam like fishes. I was already getting urgent with my need for air.

And finally, she rose, gracefully.

We were on another side.

This place was darker.

I slicked my hair down my back, pressing out water from it. Then three kids came to us, bringing clothes.

My God! The MoonCub liked kids! Perhaps they saw me with Lenny, and went soft.

The maids there were all kids, and I recognized some of the kids from the other side.

When I stepped out, I was given clothes to change into by more kids, before I was led to a room.

There was a little hum going on in the room, and I was surprised to find moonlight streaming in from a large window in front of which a little girl stood.

The maid stood next to me, and finally, she spoke, “Before you meet the MoonCub, you will have to answer some questions.”

“Go on.”

“Do you know her?” She asked, pointing to the girl, and she turned.

Lenny!

“Yes! I know her. Is she connected to the MoonCub?”

“Why did you move closer to this particular kid?” I was asked, as Lenny tapped her way closer to me with a walking stick.

“We noticed you were more particular about this kid. You fed her, bathed her and dressed her. Is that true? Note that lies will be detected.” She said, and I lowered myself to my knees to reach out to Lenny.

“Can I take her home with me?” Lenny came into my arms, soft, warm, and inviting, “If the author would allow it? Lenny's eyes can be fixed, and yes, I'm particular about her. Is that a problem?”

Then Lenny turned to me, looking directly at me.

“I want to take you home to…” I began, but noticed something was wrong.

Lenny wasn't staring out of focus. She was completely focused, staring at me, like she could see.

Then she smirked, “Who are you taking home, Wolf?”
