Chapter Eighty Nine

Chapter Eighty Nine
Keira's Pov

I adjusted myself on the bed, holding onto Damien's arm desperately, “You can't do this. It's wrong. You can't just decide to kill the Alphas, and… how sure am I that you won't kill me? The throne is what you want, isn't it?”

“You don't have a say in this!” Valerie snapped, picking up a jug, which she hurled fiercely in my direction. Acting fast, I screamed, ducking as it smashed into the wall behind me, a few shards hitting me as they bounced off the wall, “Thanks to you, they all have to die. Including Zane too. You're going to die either way, unless you know how to kick your butt out of here all by yourself.” She spat, as she approached me slowly, eyes full of scathing venom.

When she got to me, she poked her finger in my head, sending me backwards.

“It's all good, Valerie. I told you; once you find your mate, it will all be over. You will forget that anybody named Zane ever existed. You would never have him to yourself anyway, because the jerk will love Luna forever.” Damien tucked her hair behind her ear affectionately, “Let's get the power first. Then you can do anything you want. With Zane on the way, you would never feel completely safe. So now, let's stop sulking and focus on our mission.”

This was wrong.

I couldn't let the Alphas go just like that? These people were heartless. The Alphas would not even suspect anything. Then they would die just like that.

“Look here, Crazy. Your life isn't the only thing at stake, know that?” Valerie asked, her eyes burning into mine. I will make sure that everyone you know suffers a painful death if you dare tell the Alphas. Your job here is to accept the concubines, make the Alphas know that you don't actually mind them making love to the concubines, and it would be done on the day of the festival.

“That way, no one would suspect anyone of trying to steal the crown and take over it. It would seem like a natural thing. Three Alpha died along with the concubines they slept with.” Damien said, smiling at me, but I needed no one to tell me their sinister plans.

There was no way out for me. If I told the Alphas, then they'd kill the people I'd forgotten, including me too, and if I let the Alphas and the concubines die, all suspicion would fall on me. It would even be easier for me to be blamed as the one who killed them. Then they would kill me.

Damn. They had backed me into the wall. I needed an escape route.

This would be a problem.

“I won't tell anyone. In return, you really won't hurt anyone I've forgotten, right?”

Damien stroked my hair, grinning, “We won't, so play your cards right, Keira. No one must know of this. And don't think of rebelling at us because I'll always be with these bodyguards, so attacking me or Valerie would warrant your unfortunate, or perhaps, fortunate death.” He whispered, before turning around to leave the room, his men following behind him instantly.

Immediately they left, I slumped against the headboard, letting out a sigh.

No.

Something had to be done.

At this crossroad, I could no longer watch and wait. While I was waiting, I needed to do something.

~
The next morning, I requested my nurse to see Lily, fidgeting with my fingers as I awaited her arrival, contemplating on whatever it was that I was going to do.

I couldn't tell the Alphas about Damien's plan. They would be so shocked to realize Damien was evil, and that I'd been working with him, and then Ryder would spill that I wasn't Luna. Hell would break loose when they confront Damien, and both me and the people I wanted to desperately remember would suffer greatly for it.

So what was my plan?

“Maini, do you…?”

‘Be patient. Wait for the elixir.’ She commanded, but that was pretty sick.

How could we wait for the elixir when such a problem was on the ground!? People would die, but she wanted us to wait??

“No, I can't wait. We have to do something.”

‘What would you do? Tell Ryder and get yourself killed? Does Ryder look like he can think calmly when he's mad and shocked?’

“I have to do something.”

‘Do nothing! Luna will take care of it when she's back.’

“And where's she? We don't even know what she's doing. What if she's seated on a sofa, watching TV, with a bag of chips in one hand, and sweetened milk before her? What if she's forgotten all her memories?”

‘Luna wouldn't wait that long doing nothing, so just do as I say.’

“You mean I shouldn't tell the Alphas to sleep with the concubines? Damien will know. He'll attack me. Besides, if you're worried, you don't have to be. There's still a little time before the festival. Luna may have been back before then.”

The door was pushed open, and Lily came in, “Lily, I'll need you to tell the Alphas that I'd like to meet them in the throne room, and the concubines they have chosen. I'm sure they will know what I'm about to do. Then, send another maid to get me clothes. Hurry up.”

‘You’ll get yourself killed.’ Maini warned.

“No, I won't. Just watch and see. I know you think you know best, but you can't always know all the time.”

‘You don't even have a plan!’ she spat.

“Well, the same goes for you. You just want to wait for Luna because you don't have a solid plan in mind, and we really can't wait for that. We don't even know if Luna will be coming back or when she will be coming back, and actually, I might take the first step that I'm willing to take.” I said, folding the blankets on which I'd slept on.

“What first step?”

“Letting the other Alphas know my true identity.”

‘Bad idea, Keira,’ Maini said immediately.

“Ryder would help in it.”
