Trix POV
Although his arms were around me, I still sensed some hesitation. Lucas had buried his face in my neck, and was gasping for breath, or my scent. I was so confused, but this also felt right. I couldn’t explain it. Even Jewel was quiet.
I pulled back a little, and Lucas let me. I stared into eyes that held so much fear and doubt, I could almost feel my heart break for this strong wolf before me.
“I don’t even know your name, little wolf.” Lucas said, huskily. I chuckled lightly, but stopped quick enough when I saw him hang his head in shame.
“Hey now. It’s okay. It’s all going to be okay.” I made Lucas look at me. I looked deep into his eyes.
“Lucas, my name is Trix. I am a member of this pack, and I am also Evie’s nanny. There is nothing else you need to know, at the moment. Because, the only thing that matters, at the moment, is us. Do you understand.”
I had whispered everything but I knew it wouldn’t matter. I knew he would hear me. Jewel was about to tell me something, when Lucas jumped up so suddenly, i toppled backwards and landed in a heap at his feet.
Lucas was kneeling by my side in an instant. He looked stricken.
“You see! I am already hurting you. We cannot be a mated pair. We can’t be….
I Lucas…..”
I stood up as fast as I could and put my hand across Lucas’s mouth.
“Do not continue. You will not reject me. Whether its because you are trying to be all noble, or not! You are my mate. I am your mate. And that is final.”
Lucas stared at me for a while, he said nothing in response to my little speech. He just stared at me. I refused to back down, so I held his gaze.
Relief flooded my body when I saw a hint of a smile. It soon turned into a grin before he said, “I can see I will have my work cut out for me, trying to control you. Little wolf.”
My temper flared, “control me?” I snapped back, “no one will ever control me again!”
I turned to walk away, but found I couldn’t due to the vice like grip on my arm. Lucas spun me back around so I was once again facing him.
“I am sorry. I was trying to be witty. Clearly, both of us are bringing a lot a baggage with us, into this. Are you prepared to wade through all my bullshit? It may take all of your lifetime to sort me out. And that would be such a waste of your life.”
As he spoke, I could see Lucas was pulling closer to me. Almost absentmindedly.
Jewel gave me a shot of her energy, making me bolder. I grabbed the back of Lucas’s neck and pulled him towards me. Just before our lips met, I whispered, “I got all the time you will need.”
Our lips met, I closed my eyes and saw fireworks behind my lids. It felt like I was being electrocuted. The energy zinged along every fibre of my being. I pulled Lucas closer to me. I wanted to feel his strong body touching mine.
‘Mine.’ I thought. He was mine. And I was his.
Lucas POV
This was insane. I had only just returned to the pack from the living hell I had endured. And all I could think about was getting my body as close to Trix as I possibly could.
I know I had changed. That bastard had done something with my DNA. Making me into a monster. Nonetheless, it didn’t stop the electricity flow over my skin and into my veins. How could this be wrong? It felt so right, having this she- wolf in my arms.
I broke the kiss, smiling to myself when I heard the small moan of protest leave her. I wasn’t finish yet. Smiling again at the sigh of contentment coming from Trix as I trailed little kisses across her jaw and down her neck. Finishing on the sensitive spot just above the collar bone.
I should not be feeling like this. Pulling back from the beauty in my arms, was one of the hardest things I had ever done. Baring in mind that I had escaped the vampires lair.
I placed my forehead on Trix’s. We were both breathing heavily, “we have to stop this. I must find my sister and brother in law. Before I can think about us, I have to think about them. Please tell me you understand?” I begged.
Trix stepped back into the circle of my arms, this time it was only for a hug as she told me she understood.
“I have rooms in the pack house. Come and find me when you are ready.” Although Trix had spoken softly, I could still hear the disappointment in her voice.
My own heart had started beating so hard, I thought it possible for it to burst out of my chest. I didn’t want her to leave me. I told her so, and was rewarded with the most dazzlingly beautiful smile I had ever seen.
Neither of us said another word, as I led the way to my sister and the explanation that would change my life, forever. And could/would result in me losing this enchanting She-wolf, who currently clasped my hand. I could tell by the looks she had given me, that she trusted me.
The question was, would she still trust me/ want me, after all I had to say.
I trudged through the pack house, heading to the top floor. I had only reached the top of the first landing when I saw my father.
We just stood and stared at each other for a few seconds. In that time, though, I saw my fathers eyes take in the clasped hands of my mate and me. He said nothing. Only walked forward and put his arms around me, pulling me in for a tight hug.
“Where have you been, Lucas?” I heard him say. I only shook my head a little.
Then said, “follow me. I am on my way to see Genni and Jonas. I will explain everything once we are all together.”
Seeing the trust shine from my fathers eyes made tears spring to my eyes. Would they all look at me the same way, when they discovered what I had been turned into. And for what purpose.
Genni and Jonas were already waiting for me, they stood by the door to their apartment. When they saw Trix and me walking up the stairs, Genni beckoned towards us. Directing us to the living area.
Without me having to ask, Genni had called everyone who was part of the inner circle, to them. I could feel all eyes on me. Some held a look of surprise, when they saw who’s hand I held. While others looked on quietly.
Trix let go of my hand, and rushed over to the baby that was in my sister’s arms. Genni smiled down at Trix, her manner one of trust and affection. Genni whispered something into Trix’s ear. Although they were possibly the same age, Genni had an air of maturity about her. Being a Grand Luna did that to you, I supposed.
Genni pointed to the chair she wanted me to sit in. It was central to everyone else in the room.
I walked over and sat down, my anxiety going through the roof. These people were my family. I begged to the moon Goddess, to keep them all by my side, after they had heard my tale.
