The maid came into the room and brought some fruit.
James followed after her. After she dropped the tray on a low stool in the room, she bowed and walked out
James watched the door close and was sure she was gone before he turned to me
"I am sure you don't need me asking how you are feeling?" He said and I rolled my eyes
"You should learn how to act according to the script James," I said
"I did not think I would have to since it's just you and me here," he replied
"Yeah right," I said and took an apple. I took a bite and stretched it towards him. "Do you care for some?"
"No I don't," he replied.
"The doctor said I lost a lot of blood and water and he recommended the fruits," I said and smiled. "It's not easy for a woman who just lost her baby."
"Now that you have done this, what is your next move?" James asked. "I told you, this wouldn't be a great one. I need you to know the Alpha is having a lot of questions and speculations."
"So?" I took another bite, unruffled. "If you were to be in the Alpha's shoes, wouldn't you be worried too? He's a man in distress. He just lost his child."
"He's not just a man in distress," James said. "He is a man who is cursed, and his only chance of having a child was what you made him believe, and now you have done this without caring how it would affect him."
"Oh, don't be so dramatic, James," I told him. "Either way, at the end of the day I am not carrying his child. I needed to do this to buy myself some time."
"So what next? You'll really give him a child this time?" He sounded sarcastic, but I smiled.
"Let me worry about that, James. As long as Marcus does not know the truth about my pregnancies and doesn't get any suspicions about the curse, there is nothing to worry about."
"That is why I want to know how you intend to keep up with this knowing fully well you cannot give him a child," James pushed.
"Again, let me worry about that."
He sighed.
"By the way, I have some information about Aria," he said and my hand stopped midair with the apple in it
I sat up proper and dropped the fruit back on the stool
"Spill," I said calmly even though there was a rush in my head immediately he mentioned Aria
What did he find about her? Is she not dead?
"It's just minor information, though, and not necessarily that I have found her. But I got information about the guy who helped Doctor Mills with Aria's escape."
"What did you find out?" I was getting impatient.
"His name is Thomas. His relation to both Aria and the Doctor has not been fathomed. But I am certain he had a role to play that day."
"Where is he?" I asked
"No Information about that yet. I mean, he's left his old pack after the incident. It seems Aria or Doctor Mills, or both of them, had it all planned. My sure guess is he should know where Aria is, or at least, know what happened to her."
"Find him," I ordered. "We need to get every Information we can."
"I am on it," he told me and I nodded
"Good job, James," I said to him but my mind was far off wandering.
This sure means Aria was not out alone in the woods like we had thought
She had company and sure must have survived
Doctor Mills, that dirty scheming fool. She made it easy for Aria to get away alive
A great feeling of worry began to rise in my chest
Aria might be alive somewhere with Marcus's heir, his real child
And she might be there recovering and planning for a big return
Surely, if she comes back to this pack with a child, Marcus will be torn between me and her
"We need to find her at all costs, James," I said in a very serious tone.
"We are not even certain she's alive," he said
"The chances of her being alive are getting higher by the day. You just said it now. They had planned her escape so well. She was not alone. Doctor Mills made sure of that."
Gosh, I should have known this earlier. If I had thrown a heavy and intense search sooner I would have been able to track Aria down but I relaxed
I never thought they would have had it all planned out like that.
I thought Aria had taken off alone and I was sure she wouldn't be able to survive out there. I have to find her before Marcus does
James headed for the door and as if he just remembered something came back
"Sophie, I need to remind you about my wedding. I hope you haven't forgotten. I'm getting married to Veronica and it's happening soon."
I shot him an angry look. Definitely, he doesn't read the room.
I am here bothered about a very real threat and he's talking about some stupid marriage
"I have followed through with all your plans. Your miscarriage and giving you some information about Aria. I have done my part. I need you to know I will waste no more time getting married to the woman I love."
"If you want to get married so badly, get me all the information I need about Aria. Nobody's stopping you," I hissed.
I watched him walk out and was filled with so much rage and anger. His Marriage was the least of my worries right now, acting like he was the only one in love and couldn't wait to be with that girl.
And if he thought rubbing the marriage thing to my face would help him, then he's in for a big surprise. Because married or not, he'd continue to serve me.
