Chapter 85 - The Luna He Rejected

A week had passed, and it had been the longest week of my life. My mom had kidnapped my mate and didn’t even let me see her. I was just notified that they were planing the Luna ceremony and that I should not disturb them. My mom even moved Ivy to the Luna suite, because, according to her, I had to pay a bit for what I did to her. Being so close and yet so far was like hell. I knew where she was, but I couldn’t go there, not unless I wanted my mother to throw me out of the room like she had done before. I even tried to sneak inside one night, only to be scolded and dragged away without getting a glimpse of my precious mate. I was counting the hours until I could see her again, and thankfully it was coming to an end.

They had organized everything for tomorrow, so today was filled with people working around the pack. The flowers, tables, lights, and so on. I looked at them working through the window in my office. I didn’t want to go out and not be able to see Ivy.

“I miss mate.” I do too, buddy, but tomorrow we will see her.

“Athena doesn’t answer my link either.” That could be mom’s doing.

“Why is she torturing us?” Probably to teach us a lesson.

“And why am I paying? You were the asshole, not me.” Hey! We are the same person, they can’t punish me and not you.

Atlas huffed and retreated. We were really irritable now that we couldn’t see Ivy. It proved how necessary a mate was, and why a mate bond existed in the first place.

There was a knock on my door. It was Andrew, he was with Stephan. I wanted to talk to him, but he disappeared for two days with his mate, and knowing how the mate bond works, it was best not to disturb them.

“Come on in.” I told them, and soon enough they were both inside my office. “What can I help you with?”

“Ehmm, I’m leaving.” Stephan blurted out. I guess he was nervous of my reaction, but the truth was that I was expecting it. He would be a great alpha and I wish him the best.

“I expected it, my friend, and I wish you the best. When are you leaving?” He looked dumbfounded. Why was he so surprised by what I just told him? “What?”

“We thought you would react differently, taking into account the Ivy situation.” Stephan answered me. I sighed at his remark.

It was true that I didn’t feel myself right now, but I wouldn’t commit the same mistake twice.

“I won’t do that again. People learn and grow, Stephan. Now tell me, when are you leaving?” They looked relieved. I was sad that my former was leaving, but my cousin gained her mate and the pack had an amazing Alpha, so my uncle could retire. I had to find another gamma, but that would be after Ivy’s ceremony, and her sister and stepmother’s trial.

“I’m leaving tomorrow, after the Luna ceremony.” He was leaving soon, but that was what he had to do. It had taken him some time to assume his current position. I expected him to stay behind after the events in Blue Lake Pack, but everyone had their own time.

We talked for hours, it was our way of saying goodbye to Stephan, and also I didn’t want to go to my room just yet. I dreaded entering and finding an empty bed once again. My mother’s punishment was working for sure. I felt miserable.

Eventually, they had to return to their rooms, and I walked towards mine. I walked slowly, so it would take more time to reach it, until I felt someone mind link me. I wasn’t going to answer at first, but my persistence made me realize that it could be something important.

“Hello honey.” Ivy’s voice filled my head. It felt like I had been revived. I had missed that voice so much, and finally I heard her. “Your mom let me mind link you. She told me that you weren’t feeling okay, are you alright?”

“Now that you have talked to me, I feel amazing my love. I missed you so much.” Her voice was a melody, one that I anxiously waited for.

“I’m so sorry, I-"

“I know it was my mom’s idea. She believes that I deserve some punishment for what I did to you, and she is right. After this I will never, ever do anything to upset you.” She didn’t answer me straight away. I meant it as a joke, but Ivy probably didn’t get it.

“I miss you too, but today is the last day we spend apart." The love that I could feel through the bond was enough proof that she was missing me like crazy as well.

We talked for hours, until it was time to go to sleep. A busy day awaited us. She was finally going to become my Luna. Everyone in the pack would know that she is my mate, and that made me the happiest man on earth.

I woke up early in the morning. The anticipation of seeing my mate was too strong to stay in bed. The ceremony started at two in the afternoon, as we had to wait for the guests to arrive. Some Alphas from other packs were coming as well, as we had to invite everyone.

The only ones that we didn’t send an invitation to were Arthur and Alexander. The reasons were obvious. So it surprised me when I was given a note sent by Alexander.

King Kaid,

I know today is Ivy’s ceremony, and I know that I wasn’t invited. I’m not writing to you to rant about that. I want to tell you to take care of Ivy. She is an amazing and beautiful woman, and from the fight that I saw in my pack, she is also strong.

I was her first mate, but I didn’t treasure our bond. I dated her sister and treated her as a lowlife, when I should have cherished her and made her my Luna. Because of that mistake, I’m now left with nothing.

So take my advice, and never disappoint her, or you might lose her too. She has a heart of gold, but she can be incredibly stubborn, and once she looses faith in you, you lose her forever.

Things are going to change in Blue Lake. I realized that we have a lot to improve, especially the treatment towards our weakest members.

I’m also investigating my father as some past crimes have been brought to my attention, so I hope I have your help on that matter. Also, if you need me to testify against Bianca in the trial, I’ll gladly do it.

I just want to atone for my sins. And hopefully, one day, meet a good woman, so she can be the Luna of my pack. I’m not going to lie to you, if I could have a second chance with Ivy I'd take it, but that is not going to happen.

I wish you well, and hope that she was a wonderful ceremony. She deserves it.

Alpha Alexander.

I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. Alexander was admitting his mistakes and wishing us well? It didn’t seem right.

“It smells fishy, but we will see when he has to testify against Bianca.” Yeah, only time would tell if he had really changed or not.

What got me thinking was the part where he was investigating his father. If that was true, then he could count on me. I wanted to clean packs from corruption, and if Alexander wanted to help out I was not going to tell him no.

The arrival of the guests went smoothly, everyone was set in place, waiting for Ivy to arrive. The garden was full of white flowers and lights. It gave the whole place a beautiful scenery, perfect for her ceremony.

The time passed, and soon I heard the wolves howling, announcing the entrance of their Luna. I straightened myself, as the car parked in front of the road was made with petals.

Andrew opened the door of the car, and he helped Ivy out. As soon as I saw her, my heart skipped a beat. She looked gorgeous.

Her caramel skin contrasted perfectly with her white dress. She looked like an angel as she walked, and the flowing skirt trailed her every move. I could recognize that it was my mother’s Luna ceremony dress, but they had changed it, so it could fit Ivy like a glove. It hugged all her curves in the right place. The heart neckline was decorated with diamonds, and I could see that an emerald was added in the middle of it. She was wearing a pair of gloves that gave her whole outfit a classic style.

Her makeup was flawless yet natural, with a soft smoky eye that made her green eyes pop and a nude lip that made her lips so juicy, like just begging to be kissed. As for her hair, she's rocking those luscious curls swept up into a messy bun, with a few tendrils framing her face.

My mom had given her the family’s relics as she was wearing the diamond necklace that belonged to my grandmother. It was a full moon, filled with precious stones.

When she reached me, I got closer to her ear. Her scent hit me like a train, making desire bubble up like crazy.

“You look gorgeous, my love.” She turned around, looking at me with her previous eyes.

“You think so?” She was blushing as she asked me that question. I could stop looking at her, she was my mate. My beautiful and intelligent mate.

“Isn’t it obvious? When I saw you, I felt my heart stop.” I wanted to continue complimenting her, but Andrew cleared his throat and gave me the microphone, indicating that I had to start the ceremony.

“I will continue this conversation later, love, it is time to make you my queen.” I mind linked her, and I could feel her anxiety through the bond.

“Hello everyone, thank you for accompanying us at this wonderful moment. Some of you may already know her, some of you don’t, so I want to present Ivy Summers, my fated mate. She is my gift given by the Moon Goddess to treasure, love and protect. And she has accepted our mate bond, as you can see. Now let’s give her a big applause!” I took Ivy’s hand to make her come forward.

Everyone applauded as she stood in front of them. Most of the audience were happy about the ceremony. A few whispers here and there didn’t agree with Ivy becoming Luna, but they came out of jealousy.

The Elder that had to do the ritual came onto the stage. He held the sacred cup, covered by a white silk cloth. It was time to make Ivy swear her alliance with the pack, and to accept the bond in front of everyone. After that, she had to drink from the cup that contained my blood and some potion that they possessed. No one knew what it was, which was why an Elder always had to be present in these ceremonies.

"Do you, Ivy Summers, swear to protect the pack, from all evil that may arise?"

"I swear"

"Do you, Ivy Summers, swear to treat all werewolves as if they were your own family, as you, as queen, are now mother of all our species?"

"I swear."

"Do you, Ivy Summers, accept Kaid as your mate and King?"

"I do." She looked at me and smiled. It was time, her time to become Luna Queen. The Elder gave her the cup, and finally told her.

"Then drink from this cup, and remember to always fulfill the promises made today." Ivy took the cup and drank from it. When she drank we all felt the connection form.

My queen had finally accepted her role, and now we were finally together as the royal couple. It was the beginning of our new life, the beginning of something beautiful.

Thank you, Selene, for not letting me lose her. For her not becoming the Luna that I almost rejected.
