Chapter 84 - The Luna He Rejected

One moment I was staring at Ivy’s beautiful face, and the next one I was hearing a piercing scream. Ivy bent in pain announcing the arrival of her Lycan. It was only time until pain consumed me as well, and taking into account that Ivy was very strong, it meant that the pain was immense. I tried to comfort her, but soon I felt like someone was burning me from the inside. The burning sensation started spreading all over my body, consuming me whole. I tried to control the scream that wanted to slip from my lips, but it was in vain. An Alpha, screaming in pain in the middle of the woods. I didn't show any emotion when I first changed, but this, the pain was indescribable.

I felt how every bone in my body broke, how my insides burned like I was being boiled alive. I felt how my nose turned into a snout, my legs into paws, my spine rearranged itself, and lastly, I had finally transformed, but instead of being on four legs like I usually was when I turned into Atlas, I stood on my two hind legs, and from my point of view it seemed that I was way taller than before. Fur covered me whole, and for once it seemed like Atlas and I were one.

I don't know how to explain it, but before we were two minds inside one, now we are kind of joined. He didn't fight for control over our bodies, because he already had it. I turned around to look at Ivy, and she, too, stood on her hind legs. She was magnificent. Her white fur covered her whole body, but it glowed like the moon. She released a glow from her fur, and her eyes looked like two emeralds that sparkled in the night. She was almost the same size as me, and for sure her power was palpable in the air.

"Close your mouth or a fly is going to enter it." She said. Wait. She spoke in her Lycan form?

"We are just in awe of your beauty." I answered back. My voice had changed as well, it was deeper in this form, more powerful as it was a mixture between mine and Atlas.

She walked towards me, and we held hands while we looked at each other. The sparkles were intense, even more than before. It was like we had merged with our more primal part. I felt wittier, funnier, I felt… more like Atlas.

"We are one in this form. Once we return to our human selves, you and Atlas will separate again. Don't worry, us wolves are sometimes wiser than you." I couldn't refute them, because if I had listened to Atlas a lot of my problems wouldn't have happened in the first place. I simply nodded, and continued admiring her beauty. I was looking at my strong and amazing Luna, the one that almost slipped my hands if I had rejected her.

"Wow, you are huge!" Silvia came right next to Ivy, she looked tiny next to us, like she was a child next to a bear. She was amazed by our change, and it showed as her eyes were filled with curiosity. .

"How do I look?" I knew I had black fur, I could see it in my paws, but I wanted to see if something else had changed.

"Look for yourself." Ivy giggled, and took my hand, so we could get closer to the pond. The reflection that stared back at me amazed me. I still had my black fur, but now I had a patch of white fur in the middle of my chest that looked like a half moon. My eyes were also brighter, but the main change that I could notice was that now I seemed to absorb the light next to me. The only thing that emitted light from me was the white patch and my eyes.

After we admired each other, we shifted to our human form and returned to the cabin. Ivy and I were exhausted from the transformation. I was glad that Atlas and I turned back to our normal selves. He was too crazy for my liking.

"Crazy? They like me more, I am more fun." No, you are too impulsive for my liking.

"Like I was the one to jump to assumptions when you fucked things with Ivy." You win this time. I have already told you that I should have listened to you. Do you need to gloat so much?

"Absolutely." Fine, gloat some more.

Atlas laughed and I sighed. We were so different that sometimes I wondered how Selene could pair us up.

After we arrived at the cabin we each went to our room. I cuddled Ivy, and we drifted to sleep. We were so tired that we overslept and ended up arriving at the pack almost at dinner time. I guess that turning into a Lycan was too much for our bodies to handle. It was nice to arrive at our home, to know that Ivy was soon to become Luna. What I didn't expect was to hear a familiar voice in my home.

"Kaid Hills! Where the hell have you been?" My mother yelled as soon as we entered the house. Ivy tensed next to me, my mom had just come out of nowhere. Of course, she was tense.

“Hello mother.” I got in front of Ivy so that she wouldn’t scare her even further. Sometimes my family can be too much to handle, especially my mom.

“Mother? You never call me mother. If you are mad that I came unannounced, then you should explain to me why your aunt met your mate first? Also, I need to ask that poor girl if you are behaving properly now.” She stood in front of me with her arms crossed. I heard a giggle behind me, and then Ivy’s hand on my elbow.

“Don’t worry Kaid, your mother doesn’t scare me. I like her!” She moved past me, and when my mother saw her it showed that she liked her as well.

“You have an intelligent mate there, so you had better behave yourself, or she is going to leave you.” My mother said while she took Ivy’s hand. “Come dear, we have a lot to talk about.” She dragged Ivy to the stairs, while she looked at me trying to reassure me.

“Tell me if you need help love.” I mind linked her. I knew my mom could be too much to handle, so I wanted her to know that she has my full support.

“Don worry, I can handle it.” She closed the link, and I was left there with Andrew, hoping that my mother didn’t overwhelm my mate.

Ivy’s POV

Kaid’s mom took me to the Luna suite. There I noticed that there were several bags, probably those belonged to her. Kaid had the same hair color, same eyes and smile, but the rest, I suppose he got it from his father. Even if she came out strong as soon as we met, it was clear that she was a good person. She looked like someone sweet, but witty at the same time.

“So dear, what is your name?” She asked me while we entered her room. All the way here she was talking about how stupid Kaid had been and that if I chose to do something to get back at him, she was going to help me.

I giggled all the way to her room, as I couldn’t believe that his mother was the one that suggested payback. In the end, I refused because we had already been through so much that I didn’t need more drama in my life.

“Ivy Summers, ma’am.”

“Ma’am? Just call me mom, or Elena if you want. I don’t want to pressure you.” Mom? Could I call her mom? It would be the first time I had actually used that word with someone.

I think she noticed my sadness because she quickly took my hand to caress it, just like I had seen the mothers in my pack with their pups.

“Kaid told me partially what happened, and even if he is my son I can tell that he was an idiot. I’m so grateful you forgave him, but believe me Ivy, I’m on your side in this case.” She smiled at me, and I felt my eyes filled with tears.

Her motherly love was something that I had always craved, and now I could have it. For some time I even thought that my mom hated me because I caused her death, but now I know the truth.

“Thank you mom.” I told her and her eyes filled with tears as well.

“I always wanted a daughter, and now I have one, so thank you dear.” She hugged me. At first, I was startled, but then I hugged her back, feeling the warmth and comfort of a mother’s love. How I wished I had this as a child.

“Now.” She said while she broke the hug. “We need to plan your Luna ceremony. From your friends here I learned that you don’t have a Luna dress?” I nodded to let her know that she was right. My father didn’t give me a single thing from my mother, not even a picture, and Oscar only provided me with one he had from her graduation. Apparently, my mom took everything with her, and my father had discarded it like it was trash.

“I- I wanted to give you something.” She was nervous, something odd to someone that was as strong as she was. “It is tradition to wear your mother’s dress, and since you can’t obtain it, I hope you don’t mind if I give you mine.” She stood up and took something out of the closet.

It was the most beautiful white dress that I’ve ever seen. It was like it was taken from a fairy tale. And she was giving me this amazing dress.

“Thank you so much, I’ll be honored to wear it.” We hugged once again, but at that moment the door burst open, and Kaid was standing at the other side of it.

“Is everything all right?” He asked frantically. Elena and I just looked at him like he had just lost his mind. “I’m sorry, I felt your sadness through the bond-.” He stopped speaking and looked at the dress, making his mom scream and close the door in his face.

“We are fine Kaid! You can leave.” I heard him groan from the other side. His mom turned around with a hand over her chest. “That was close, he can’t see the dress, it is bad luck. Now, we have a Luna ceremony to prepare.” She said and I couldn’t feel happier.

I had a home, I had a mom and a mate, and nothing else mattered.
