Chapter 24

The day had finally come that Sophie had been looking forward to have finally arrived, Zander was finally coming home. She would be able to spend time with him and not have to hide. Looking in the mirror she could still see the bruise on her face, although it had faded quite a bit. The thing bothering her was how would she explain the bruise to Zander? Maybe she could hide it with makeup, and he would not even notice it. Then again she had promised Kay-Leah if the bruise was still there that she would tell Zander what had happened. But how was she going to tell him? Her and Zander were to be married in six days, she was not about to start her marriage with a lie, she had to tell him. She would wait until after he met his family, that was making her nervous enough along with everything else, just then her thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. Okay get with it; answer the door, feet walk to the door.

Sophie opened the door standing behind it in just a bathrobe.

“Hi, honey, surprise, your limousine waits. Okay but you are not ready yet are you? I was hoping that you would be ready to venture out with me; I had plans for us to go out of town. Look, at me why are you looking away?” Zander grabbed Sophie’s face gently toward him. “Okay now I see, what the hell happened to that beautiful face of yours? It looks like you got into a bar fight. Who did that to you?” Like I really fucking care, the person should have just taken your ass completely out, they sure as hell could not do any more damage than has already been done. Of course I have to pretend I care, and this is going to be a long ass ride with you, but, I am in the movies and can act very well.

“I cannot go out on the town with you, look at me I am a mess, I have nothing to wear, and I am embarrassed to be seen with this bruise. Why didn’t you tell me that you had planned for us to go out, I would have gone and tried to get a makeover to cover the bruise at least, and get my hair done?”

Believe me when I say no makeover will help your fat ass, no matter what you do to yourself, I hope I did not just say that out loud. I am the one who has to be seen with you, imagine my embarrassment. “Having nothing to wear no problem, I stopped on the way here and bought a dress, shoes, and a necklace to accent the outfit. Of course Jewel told me what sizes to get so blame her if the dress and shoes do not fit. Now, tell me again why we cannot go out on the town. Oh, you do still have something to tell me. Who did this to you?” Jake pointed once again at the bruise, wanting to laugh but he knew better he had to pretend to care. “I want to know, I need to know now. You are not going to start our relationship, or impending marriage this way. I will not stand for it, you know this. I should not have to repeat myself to you.” Oh shit I bet she is going to tell me that I was too harsh, I guess my disgust is showing just a little bit too soon. Zander handed the dress, shoes and necklace to Sophie, “Hope you like them.”

Sophie’s eyes began to sting with tears, she had never had anyone treat her this way, and she was not sure how to react. “Thank you so much, but, you really should not have done this. Although I must admit you do have good taste, it is all so beautiful, give me a minute to go put it all on, then we can go.” Sophie turned around and ran up the stairs.

Zander followed behind her, thinking to himself damn what are you thinking, this is not your type, image all the women waiting for you back in the movie set. “Wait right there.” Jake said as he walked into the bedroom, “You need to tell me what happened to you, and who did it. We are not going anywhere until you tell me.”

Sophie turned around, gave Zander a weird look then she turned back around looking in the mirror, “Fine, I will tell you. Please, sit down, and listen. I made a stupid mistake, I called Alex a few weeks ago to come over, and I wanted to be sure that I was completely over him before you and I got married. Once he got here, I let him in, and took one look at him, and realized that I should have never called him, I am over him, and I love you. Well, Alex tried to kiss me, I tried to push him away, and he just did not react to well to the aggression I showed to him. Of course he slapped me, then he pushed me down on the couch laid on top of me, and said that like it or not we were going to have sex, and I would have to enjoy it, he knows I still love him, and that I want him, then he punched me, of course that is how I got the bruise, it was way worse, it is like it does not want to go away. He just went crazy, he said he would win me back one way or another that you and I would never get married, and he was not going to leave. Then thank god the kids came home. Kay-Leah is the one who finally got him to leave. We both did, but mostly her. She even stuck up for you and not her dad. I am sorry Zander, I was totally wrong, I should have had more faith, and trust in the way I feel about you. I am so sorry, please forgive me.” Sophie was crying at this point hoping that Zander would not walk away and not come back.

You are one stupid bitch, I am one stupid bastard for not turning around and walking out that door right now, but my kids await, I have to get them. “Yes, you I can forgive, I know you had to be sure. You did that before, and then went back to him. What I am having a problem with accepting and forgiving is what Alex did to you. I will get him for that, Jewel now I cannot forgive her either, how could she….”

“Wait, no Jewel and Josh do not know, please do not tell them. I did not call them, for one thing I knew that Jewel has priority over me at calling you, and she would have done it. For another, I did not want to have Josh put in jail, and that is where he would go.” Little do you know, that little relationship you have with Jewel will be ended as soon as we are married, I do not like the fact that she can call you whenever she wants and I cannot do that. In due time, I will see to it however is necessary for me to put an end to it.

Zander thought to himself, if you only knew what Jewel and I have cooked up, you would not be saying anything about her, she will fuck you up one day, and trust me I will be there to see it. “I think, honestly, it would have been easier if you had just called the police and had Alex arrested. No matter how the kids felt, no man should put their hands on a woman the way he did, no woman is a punching bag, besides he is considered an attempted rapist in my book. As for Josh, since he is family to me already, well, I would have put up the bail money for him, he would not have been in jail that long. In all seriousness it would have been my pleasure for him to do my dirty work, being in the movie business I cannot afford for my face to get messed up. He would have been giving Alex back what Alex gave to you. Enough about this for now, I made plans for us, he will be taken care of later, you need to finish getting dressed.”

Sophie turned around and finished doing her hair; put her makeup on, then the beautiful dress that Zander had bought for her. Perfect. Sophie just had to tell Kay-Leah that she and Zander were leaving, and would be back later. Damn it, I forgot to put the necklace and my shoes on. Hope this night goes well than when he just showed up without warning.

“Kay-Leah, I need you to do me a huge favor, watch the kids for me. Zander got a limo, and bought me this outfit so we could go out. Please, Zander will give you money to do it. I personally will leave you money to get a pizza; we just really want to go out.”

“Sure, why not, where else do I have to go? I am always home. No life of my own and it will only get worse a few months from now.”

The two of them walked downstairs together, Kay-Leah reluctantly said hi to Zander.

“Hey, Kay-Leah, what’s up? How are you and the little one doing? You have gotten pretty big, you look very uncomfortable. Oh, yeah, here is a fifty, order pizza and keep the rest. Don’t wait up your mom and I plan to tear up the town. Are you ready to go Sophie; time is money on the limo.” Damn I cannot believe that I have to deal with these entire fat ass bitches. This is crazy, what am I thinking? Oh yeah, kids, need to take them away from their mother.

“Thank you Zander,” Kay-Leah walked over to hug Zander, he tried to push her away, then she whispered to him, “I know what you are up to bastard, if you go through with this and hurt my mom, I will be the one who will play hell on your life, think about that one. You two have fun now. Don’t worry about us we will be just fine.”

“Oh by the way I bought you kids two new outfits as well. One for tomorrow night for dinner, and, one for the wedding.” Wow really would not want to be seen in public with these loser ass kids and their fucked up wardrobe. Bad enough I cannot change how fast they are, but I can do something about the clothes they are wearing.

“Wow really Jake you did not need to do that, these kids have clothes on top of clothes that the tags have not even been taken off of.”

“Remember we are going to be one big happy family soon, so that means I have to do my part to clothe them. This is my part.”

Sophie and Zander finally left. First they had dinner in a fancy restaurant, and then went dancing, Sophie wished that the night would never end, she was having so much fun, fun that she never knew was possible to be had. After dancing the night away the two finally made it home, shared a bottle of wine, while talking, then they decided it was time to make love. Their love making to Sophie felt like it was their first time all over again, magical, and then fell asleep in each other’s arms.
