Chapter 12

Sophie had finally realized that Alex was gone and she went to check on the kids. At first she felt the emptiness of the room, his belongings were all moved out, then she realized that she was alone with three kids, and not sure how to react to that one. Once the children were settled and in bed Sophie went to sit down and cry, she hoped that she had done the right thing, because right now all she could feel was guilt. She was not sure if she were regretting what she had done, or if it was because she was all alone and just scared. Then she finally wrote a letter to Jake.

Dear Jake, I wish you were here with me right now. I so need you in the worst way. More now than ever. The next five months are going to feel and seem like an eternity. They are going to drag on and on like years. Does it have to be that long before we can get together?

Alex moved out today. I felt a sense of relief, yet at the same time I feel so scared and alone. The kids took his moving out pretty hard, they cried for hours, of course as you probably know Heather took it the worst. You would have had to see her to understand, she looked so sad, and lost.

I have not managed to get the nerve up to tell them about us just yet. I am waiting to do that. They are not even aware of my planning to divorce Alex as soon as possible in order to marry you. For that matter Alex does not even know about the divorce coming soon. I plan to file within the next week or so, and then when you do come home we will be able to spend more time together, and not have any more issues.

I honestly do not even feel any guilt at all for asking Alex to leave this time. Last time I did, this time was so much easier. The last time I asked Alex for a divorce I cried, and he of course asked what I was doing to him, to us, this time he just talked to the kids and he left peacefully. He must know it is time to give up, that I am not going to change my mind. I guess he realizes that there is not anything left between us to try to save.

I hope to hear from you very soon. Jake, I love you, and I did this all for you, for us, please do not let me down and change your mind. I miss you so much, and really need to hear your voice.

Oh and by the way, I forgot to mention thank you for the gifts. I loved the watch, I wear it all the time, the ring well it was breathtaking, and no I have not worn it yet, the money well of course that helped out a whole hell of a lot. It got me out of debt and still has some left to fall back on. In answer to your proposal well I cannot answer that not now, not in a letter. I will let you know when you come home.

I love you and write or call me soon.

All my love Sophie Sophie put the ring Jake had sent her on her finger, and then she stared at it. She began to cry, she hoped she was doing the right thing, wondering why all of a sudden that Jake was not calling or even writing to her.
