Chapter 33

Savannah's POV

This wasn't my house, but I didn't say anything. It wasn't too big, perfect for one person. I imagined gold coating the houses here, but it was nothing like that. It was simple, similar to the houses in the human realm. I was genuinely surprised. I didn't really pay attention to the interior. I sat down on the first chair and unlocked my phone which was somehow fully charged.

“Hi Martha! Can you give me my mom?”

“Oh, dear! We were so worried, of course, just a moment.”

“Sweetie! How are you? Is everything okay?”

“As good as it can be. Are you okay?”

“Yes. Martha was really helpful. Now tell me everything. I still couldn't speak with your father.”

“We lost. There were only the two of us, but we kicked their asses pretty good. I don't know when we'll be able to meet. We can't leave her because of a seal that my grandmother placed on us. God, it's so strange to say that.”

“I'm just glad you two are okay. You're stronger than you think. You'll figure something out. Have you called the others?”

“Not yet. I just got my phone back. How are things with the witches?”

“They're panicking without their leader. Martha is trying everything to calm them down.”

“Gather them together. I'll call you via video chat this evening.”

“Okay sweetie. Just take care.”

“I will mom, but you too. Don't let Martha stress too much. It's not good for her health.”

“Sure, sure. Love you.”

“Love you too.”

I was glad that she was accepted, just like I was. This wasn't easy for either of us, but we had to get through this. I knew that with mom and Zamyr I had all the time in the world. I was worried about Maddie. She was human with a human lifespan.

“Hi Maddie! Are you okay? I saw you fainting and hitting the ground.”

“Oh my God! Sav! I'm fine, but are you? You must be if you're calling me. Are you home? Where are you?”

“I’m okay. I’m not home and I don’t know when I’ll be. I’m stuck here for who knows how long.”

“I want to kick your behind so bad for saying goodbye in a text.”

“I didn’t want to drag you into my mess. You’re human and I could never forgive myself if something happened to you.”

“I’d have been fine. I hurried as much as I could, but I was late. Where are you exactly?”

“In Heaven you can say. I mean literally.”

“Then you got what you wanted. Have you found the grimoire yet?”

“I wasn't exactly in good shape for an expedition. I just woke up. I used too much of my magic and my body shut down. I'm okay now.”

“Are you stupid? So now what?”

“I had no choice. Anyway, I'll look for the grimoire and for a way to break this stupid seal my grandmother put on me. I can't leave as long as it's on me.”

“Damn girl! I know you will.”

“I put your stuff in our bedroom. Oh, sorry. I thought you were finished with your call.”

“No, is that a problem? And we'll talk about that later. Sure as hell that won't happen.”

“Who was that? And our bedroom? Sav, what's going on?”

“Ugh, that was Gabriel.”

“Okay. What are you doing with him? Hey, you still haven't answered my other question.”

“After we lost and he figured out my connection with dad he touched me. He's my soulmate too.”

“What? Is that even possible?”

“I don't know Maddie. I'm so mad at him and now I'm forced to move in with him. When I woke up he got a taste of his own medicine. I knocked him out with my magic.”

“That's one way of expressing your love for him. I'm just joking, before you get angry. Will you give him a chance?”

“I don't have a choice. I'm stuck with him. I still need some help with the search. Did you talk to Zamyr?”

“He's in bad shape. He was the one who found me passed out. He's beating himself up because he didn't see the message immediately.”

“I'll call him, I just wanted to know how he really felt.”

“Call me anytime.”

“You can call me too. And Maddie, apart from you nobody knows about me and Gabriel.”

“I won't tell.”

“Thanks, Maddie. For everything.”

She was the person everybody wished for. She was my best friend, my sister. She helped me figure out that I'm a witch. She was there when my powers awakened. This time I had to be the one to fight. For immortals a decade or a century didn't matter. For Maddie it did. Her time was limited and I needed to see her in person at least once more.

“Savannah! Is that you?”

“Yes, Zamyr. How are you holding up?”

“I'm so sorry that I arrived late.”

“Don't. That was my intention. I knew you'd come even if I begged you not to. I couldn't let you mixed up in it. That might've resulted in a war.”

“So you're not mad?”

“Of course not. We fought and we lost.”

“They refused my request about returning you.”

“I know and I'm working on it. I can't leave because of a seal.”

“I figured that. Otherwise you'd have been here by now.”

“You know me too well. Yeah, I wanted to leave, but well, that has to wait a bit now.”

“I can wait. It was just hard. When I found Maddie laying on the ground I knew I was late. Then I went inside and everything was a mess and both your dad's and your things were gone.”

“Just don't do anything stupid that may result in a bloodbath.”

“I won't. You can't leave at all?”

“No. I haven't tried, but my dad said so.”

“I know you'll figure something out.”

“Why is everybody telling me the same thing?”

“Because we know you and what you're capable of.”

“Damn! I need to work on my poker face. I have to go unpack now. You can call me anytime you want.”

“I wasn't supposed to tell you this over the phone, but I'm in love with you Savannah Rose. If you don't feel the same way I'll make sure that one day you will.”

“I think I'm starting to fall in love with you too. The beginning wasn't easy, but we worked that out. Until I'm stuck here in realm arrest I'll make myself useful and look for the grimoire. Maybe in it I'll find a way to break this seal.”

“Be careful my love.”
