Chapter 41 John's Investigation Results
John took a deep breath, but before he could speak, Gerald stopped him. Gerald noticed that Jennifer seemed uncomfortable in her sleep.
Jennifer's face looked restless as she slept, beads of sweat appearing on her forehead. Gerald took a tissue and wiped Jennifer's forehead.
"What's going on? Why does Jennifer look so scared and restless in her sleep? Is she having nightmares?" Gerald muttered, his face serious as he looked at Jennifer.
"John, speed up the car, but be careful! It looks like Jennifer isn't comfortable sleeping in the car!" Gerald ordered.
Slowly but surely, the car began to drive faster than before, and before long, they arrived at a luxury condominium. From the car park, several bodyguards ordered by John were waiting to greet them. Gerald quickly carried Jennifer while John carried Alex.
They took the special lift provided for the residents of the condominium's penthouse.
Gerald's penthouse was in the heart of New York City, where there was a spacious open-concept balcony with a long U-shaped sofa, an electric fireplace in the middle, and an infinity pool directly opposite, overlooking the lights of New York City. The apartment, estimated to be worth approximately $102,333,000, is one of the most expensive penthouses in the New York City area. It has four bedrooms and eight bathrooms with an area of -/+1,200 square metres, a dining room that can accommodate -/+ 20 people, a television room and a mini cinema for watching films on a large screen, complete with grey and black sofas and a mini kitchen for snacks. There is also a mini gym with a complete range of equipment, such as a treadmill and so on.
The grey-themed penthouse has a luxurious kitchen complete with cooking equipment and a marble table in the same grey-black colour. Almost the entire room feels dark yet luxurious.
Gerald put Jennifer in the spacious master bedroom, which had an en suite bathroom with a bathtub facing the glass and a beautiful view of southern New York City at night.
Gerald covered Jennifer with a thick blanket before leaving to check on Alex in the room next to Gerald's.
Gerald walked slowly and entered Alex's room to check on him briefly, kissed his son on the forehead, and then turned off the light.
"Let's talk in the office, John! I want to discuss yesterday's assignment!" said Gerald as he walked to his office, passing the minibar room where he kept his collection of various drinks.
John followed Alpha Blackstone, his boss at the office, from behind.
Gerald sat in his large chair, behind which was a wooden bookshelf filled with books. Gerald's desk was not too big but also not too small, with a laptop and a desk lamp on his left.
Gerald's office was quite large because, in addition to the two chairs in front of him, there was also a long sofa in the room.
John sat comfortably in front of Gerald.
"Now explain what happened on the day I fainted and you went home and saw the situation in the south. What exactly happened, John?" Gerald asked John.
"That day... our area was attacked, Alpha Gerald. They tried to steal... it seems like the holy water stock and... hmm... our gold storage warehouse!" John exclaimed again.
"WHAT?? Who dared to do that? Did they succeed?" Gerald sat up straight, worried.
John shook his head, "Fortunately not, but some of our people were injured while trying to fight back, Alpha Gerald!" said John, biting his lip.
"I'm sorry, when I arrived, they seemed to be trying to escape! I'm sorry, Alpha, I was a little late!" John bowed his head.
"It's okay, John! At least you tried! So, have you taken care of our injured men? Make sure they have everything they need! Give them the best treatment and let them take time off until they recover! Do you understand, John?" Gerald exclaimed.
"I've already done that, Alpha!" John exclaimed again.
"Good work, John! So, have you found out who did it?" Gerald asked again.
"Not yet, Alpha! We're still investigating, I'll let you know the results later! But... I don't know... their tracks seem to be the same as..." John seemed hesitant and paused for a moment, weighing whether he should report the news or not.
"The same as what? Let me guess, the same as the attack on Captain Bryan's house?"
John frowned, "How did you know, Alpha? But we're still looking for concrete evidence!"
Gerald crossed his arms over his chest, "I don't know, it's just a hunch! Who are they really? Try to follow Dixon's movements! There's no way he'll stay quiet after I humiliated him at his office yesterday! I'm worried he did it! But what does that person want? Does he want to take Jenny away from me?"
John shook his head, "I don't know, Alpha Gerald, but we'll investigate it so we can find the real culprit as soon as possible!"
Gerald nodded, "Yes, we must, Beta John!"
"Oh, yes, John, do something, keep following Captain Bryan. I don't trust him! I don't know, even though he seems sincere in wanting to help Jenny, but... there's something I don't like about Captain Bryan's eyes! He seems like a cunning and dangerous man! I hope my guess is wrong!" Gerald exclaimed again.
"Alright, Alpha!"
"Have you gathered any information about Jennifer's parents in Chicago? Who are they really? Investigate them. Were they involved in the attack six years ago? And how did they find Jennifer? And who are they? Are they werewolves too?" Gerald asked again.
"We found out that Mrs. Jenny six years ago... they said they adopted Mrs. Jenny because they were two elderly people who couldn't have children! But... I don't think they were involved in the incident six years ago, Alpha!" John exclaimed again.
“Are you sure? What makes you so certain of that conclusion?”
John sighed, “Because they’re human, Alpha Gerald! They didn’t even know who Mrs. Jenny really was, that’s why the neighbours said… when Mrs. Jenny was declared pregnant and then gave birth, they were also surprised, especially when asked, Mrs. Jenny couldn’t remember anything! Not even her own name! That's why they... said..."
"What did they say, John? Tell me!" asked Gerald curiously.
John looked sad, "They said Mrs. Jenny underwent insemination and the sperm donor was kept secret by the hospital!"
Gerald nodded, “So that’s why… Jenny always said and believed she was pregnant because of the insemination process! No wonder…”
“Oh yeah, what about the attack at Jenny’s apartment? Have you found out who did it?”
“About that…” John wanted to continue the conversation, but then.
