Chapter 16 Gerald's Secret Plan!
"Yes! Go home..." Jennifer tried to repeat her words as she moistened her dry throat.
Gerald stared at her with an unreadable expression, then took a deep breath before speaking.
"I know! Back to Captain Bryan Smith's house, right?" Gerald looked annoyed and turned his face away to stare at the streets of LA.
Jennifer turned her head and Gerald turned his at the same time.
"How did you know, Mr Williams? Have you been following me?" Jennifer looked suspiciously at Gerald.
Gerald stammered, he blurted out.
"Of course not! I know because... last time you chose to accept his offer to stay at his house temporarily, right? Well, that's how I know! But I don't know exactly where he lives!" Gerald exclaimed convincingly.
"Oh... We're temporarily staying at his house on the outskirts of the city in the Sylmar area!" Jennifer exclaimed.
"Oh... in Sylmar!" Gerald pretended to have just found out.
'Tsk! If I hadn't seen it myself, you'd be perfect as an actor, Alpha Gerald! Your acting is incredibly natural! Even though we've been there before and you almost didn't want to come home if I hadn't forced you!' John thought to himself as he drove to the area Jennifer wanted to go.
Jennifer glanced vaguely at Gerald.
"Is that true? Are you sure you just found out, Mr Williams?" Jennifer asked again after vaguely hearing John's thoughts.
"Of course!" Gerald assured her.
"All right! Then how did you know I was at Mr Dixon's office, huh?" Jennifer asked again.
"Well... Get! Didn't you promise to come to my office to work from 9:00 to 10:00 in the morning? And since you didn't show up... I ordered my men to stand guard downstairs and they saw you enter Mr. Dixon's office at that time! Why did you go there?" Gerald said, turning to press Jennifer.
Jennifer finally explained why she had to go to Dixon's office.
"But now, I've hurt him! Ah, my life is so unlucky! Do you think he'll sue me?" Jennifer looked back at Gerald.
"I don't think so! I've already given him appropriate compensation! It's not a problem for me! And there's no need to thank me! He wouldn't dare mess with me! Anyway, hm... you're my person! We have an agreement... not to interfere with each other! Just think of it that way!" Gerald leaned back and raised both hands to use as a pillow for his head, revealing the wound on his right hand to Jennifer.
"Wait a minute! You're hurt, sir! Let me treat it as a thank you for helping me, sir! I'll definitely reimburse you! Oh, yes, John, do you have a first aid kit in this car?" Jennifer pulled Gerald's hand and held it.
"I think so, ma'am! The box is in the back seat, ma'am! Do you want me to get it, ma'am?" John replied to the lady. "No need, I'll get it myself! Just drive the car well and without any jolts, okay?" Jennifer ordered.
"Yes, ma'am!" John moved the centre mirror towards Gerald to ask for help from the Alpha.
Gerald just smiled slightly. 'Just do what your mistress says!'
Gerald seemed to speak to John with his eyes.
'Aish! Now they're both telling me what to do! Ah... my life is not going to be easy from now on!'
But when Jennifer turned around, Gerald glared at John, "Keep your eyes on the road, John!"
Nervously, John looked ahead and turned his rear-view mirror back.
'His sense of ownership is truly terrifying!'
"Ah! Finally found it! What did you say, sir?" exclaimed Jennifer, returning to her position and opening the first aid kit to look for what she needed.
"I didn't say anything! Maybe you heard wrong!"
"Oh, alright... I'll go slowly... but please hold on if it hurts, okay?"
"Alright..."
John stifled a laugh when he heard Jennifer's words and Gerald glared at him.
"A wound that small couldn't possibly be felt by Alpha Gerald, Madam! He's been through worse than that and it's nothing to him! You underestimate your husband too much, Mrs Ross!" John could only shake his head.
Jennifer pressed Gerald's wound and looked at him, "Does it hurt?"
"A little! But since you treated it, it doesn't hurt anymore!" Gerald exclaimed, looking at Jennifer's bandage.
"Burr!!" John spit out the drink he was drinking.
"John!" Gerald growled. Gerald knew his assistant was mocking him.
"Sorry, sir! I didn't mean to!" John exclaimed, bowing his head to hold back his laughter.
'Since when did he become so good at sweet-talking? Really, lonely men are terrible!'
"All right, done! Please change the bandage every day! And try not to get it wet until the wound dries," said Jennifer softly.
Gerald looked at his wife's bandage with great pride.
"Oh, yes, sir, you haven't answered my question. So why did you go there? Was it because your men saw me at Mr Dixon's office?" Jennifer asked again.
Gerald shook his head, "Not only that! I deliberately went there to see you so that... you wouldn't be in breach of contract, which could have fatal consequences in the future!" Gerald explained, beginning to carry out his plan.
"What do you mean? I don't understand!" Jennifer looked confused.
Gerald smiled and handed her a copy of Jennifer's employment contract with the company, which had been signed before Gerald fired her.
Jennifer took it and read it, "So? I know this is my previous employment contract with your company! But... didn't you fire me?"
"Ahem! Ahem!" Gerald coughed.
"I apologise for my previous mistake, but according to the contract, if there is a unilateral termination, there must be a written statement from the party requesting the cancellation."
"Huh? Is there? How come I didn't know? Wait, let me read it again!" Jennifer, who looked confused, opened the contract again and sure enough, the clause was there.
"And one of the clauses states that if you violate the contract, the penalty is..." Gerak stopped speaking when he saw Jennifer's reaction as she stared at the number in the clause.
"What? 100 billion? Are you serious? What kind of contract is this? Why is the penalty so expensive? Obviously, I won't be able to pay it!" Jennifer angrily threw away the copy of the contract.
"That's just a copy, so if you throw it away... I still have the original!" Gerald said casually.
Jennifer narrowed her eyes and stared at Gerald. "You did this on purpose, didn't you? If this is the case, then... I'll have to work for you for the rest of my life, right?"
Gerald wanted to laugh at his wife's reaction, who didn't recognise him. 'Gotcha! That was my intention!'
Jennifer looked resigned and pouted at Gerald, "So? What now?"
Gerald returned to his serious tone, "There's no other way! Work with me! I'll give you a decent salary, the same as what Dixon's company offered! And... one more thing..." Gerald stopped talking when he saw Jennifer's reaction.
"What else?"
"You have to l
ive in the house I provide or live with me to make your work easier later! All of that is stated in the contract! How about it?" Gerald intimidated Jennifer.
"WHAT???”
