Chapter 113 - Epilogue
The quiet moment they had in the early mornings had become the most precious time of their busy days. It was the only moment that they could enjoy being in each other’s presence without any interference.
It had become one of the few times that they could worship each other to their heart’s content.
“What time will the ladies get here?” Jason said as he placed a line of kisses from her bare shoulder to the back of her neck.
“Hmm… In a couple of hours…” Amelia replied as she rolled over to face her mate
“We’ve got time then…” Jason said as he smiled down at her mischievously.
“Yes, we do…” Amelia replied as she reached up and grabbed his neck and pulled him into a deep kiss.
Chuckling against his mate’s lips, Jason lowered himself to return her kisses before he positioned himself between her legs. He slowly kissed down her neck to his mark as he positioned himself at the entrance to her core. And Amelia gasped when he sucked on the sensitive flesh, ready to devour his mate.
They both froze when they heard the familiar high-pitched cry of their baby ringing through their home. When the sound of the baby crying didn’t stop, they both looked at each other and chuckled at their pup’s poor timing. As Amelia threw back her head and let out a frustrated sigh, Jason buried his face in her neck and took a breath of the scent before he rose from their bed.
“I’ll check on him”, Jason said as he put on a pair of pants, much to her disappointment. “You can go ahead and get ready.”
“Ok…”, Amelia sighed again, frustrated that they hadn’t gotten many chances recently to be intimate with each other.
When he walked out of their bedroom, Amelia begrudgingly got out of bed and walked into their bathroom to take a shower. She took a quick shower and wrapped herself in a towel before she walked over to the washbasin to brush her teeth.
As she wiped the fog from the mirror on the wall, she chuckled to herself at how uneventful their lives had been the past year. Looking at her body, she realized that her scars didn’t seem as prominent as they once were to her. She ran her hand over the large scar on her shoulder and smiled sadly, wondering how long it would take for her not to feel sad every time she saw it.
However, she didn’t allow herself to get lost in that rabbit hole of emotions because she had more important things to think about at that moment. So she hurriedly got dressed for the day and walked out into the living space.
When she walked into the open kitchen, she saw Jason holding their baby with one arm as he switched on the coffee maker. He then started rocking back and forth as he gently patted the baby’s back.
It often amazed her that someone so large and imposing was so gentle with such a tiny creature in his large hands. And their son was more than happy to sleep in his father’s arms like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Good boy, Ethan”, Jason said when he burped against his shoulder.
Amelia couldn’t help but chuckle at how cute the two most precious men in her life were together. Jason turned around to see her watching him as he rocked their baby against his chest while Amelia looked at them like they were the most beautiful things she had ever seen.
“What?” Jason asked as she continued to look at him.
“Nothing. Everything’s perfect”, Amelia said with a contented smile.
“Yes, it is”, Jason chuckled.
Wanting to relieve her mate, Amelia walked over to him, carefully took the baby from his arms, and placed him against her shoulder. He protested a little at being moved from such a comfortable position and even opened his eyes to try and see who was picking him up. This only made Amelia smile down at him when she saw the adorable face that already looked just like his father’s, with his black hair and her amber-colored eyes that were similar to hers and her mom’s eyes.
When Ethan had settled into her arms and fallen back asleep, Jason kissed Amelia before he went to get ready for the day. Watching her baby sleep in her arms, she knew that no matter how difficult things became she wouldn’t change this life they had built together for anything in this world.
As she was about to place Ethan into the mobile crib they kept in the living room, the front door opened and Michelle and Sarah walked in.
“Hey, Lia!” Michelle said as she walked in with her daughter in swaddle across her chest.
“Hey, Michelle, how’s Annie?” Amelia asked as she placed a blanket over Ethan.
“Crying through the night as usual”, Michelle said with a chuckle.
“I’ll take a crying baby over one pressing on my bladder any day”, Sarah said as she half-waddled to the sofa and carefully lowered herself to sit down.
The other two ladies couldn’t help but chuckle as they remembered what it felt like to be nine months along and desperate for some relief.
They began talking about their plans to build an additional daycare facility for the pack when Jason walked into the kitchen dressed for work.
“Good morning, ladies”, Jason said as he poured himself a cup of coffee in a traveling mug.
“Good morning, Alpha”, the ladies said in unison, making Jason chuckle.
It was clear that they were in a good mood, and he didn’t want to intrude on their fun. So he kissed Amelia and hurried out the door to get to work at the pack house.
Amelia watched carefully as he walked out of their home, and immediately turned to Michelle when she was sure that he had left.
“I need the number of your babysitter right now!”, Amelia exclaimed desperately.
“Okay… what’s the rush?”, Michelle asked curiously.
“If I don’t get some alone time with Jason tonight, I might just jump his bones in the middle of the office!”, Amelia confessed to her friends.
Both women tried desperately not to laugh too loud so as not to wake the sleeping babies. They also found it amusing that she had become more open to discussing such things even though she had been too reserved to do so just a year ago.
“Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered”, Sarah reassured as they continued to laugh at her expense.

Jason didn’t hide the fact that he was trying to finish work as quickly as he could. He needed to hurry up with work so that he could go back home to continue what they had started that morning. And he was doing so well until he looked up from his desk to see Michael smirking back at him.
“What?” Jason asked.
“Oh nothing, you look like you’re having fun”, Michael said with a wide grin.
Looking back at his paperwork, Jason couldn’t stop from smiling because Michael was right. He was enjoying everyday life so much that it worried him. He didn’t realize how enjoyable peace was until he was experiencing it himself.
He was pulled away from his thoughts by Michael’s phone chiming that it had just received a message. Unlocking his phone, Michael pulled up the message and shook his head with a smile. He then placed the phone down on the desk for Jason to see what he had received.
It was a picture of Pete scuba diving with sharks. Over the past year, he had been going on increasingly outrageous adventures during his time away. And he had kept his promise of checking in regularly to let them know what he was up to.
“I honestly don’t know why I was so worried…”, Michael chuckled.
“I guess he was right”, Jason said. “We just needed to see that he could handle things on his own.”
“I guess so…”, Michael said as he retrieved his phone and looked at the picture again. “But you need to go. It’s late and I know you can’t wait to get back to Amelia and Ethan.”
Looking out of the window, Jason noticed that the sun was already setting. So he hurriedly put his documents away and rushed out of his office as he patted Michael’s shoulder on the way out. Michael could only chuckle and follow his friend out of the office and towards their homes.

Walking into their home, Jason noticed that the lights were all switched off but there was a soft glow coming from the corridor to their bedroom. So he walked slowly toward their bedroom, unsure of what was happening at that moment.
When he got to the doorway, what he saw stopped him dead in his tracks. Amelia was lying on the bed wearing red lingerie as she propped herself up on one elbow.
“Aren’t you going to join me?” she asked in a sultry voice.
Not waiting for a second invitation, Jason hurriedly took off his Jacket, waistcoat, tie, and belt before he jumped in bed with his mate. He immediately buried his face into her neck as he took in her scent.
He couldn’t help feeling upset with himself that he didn’t return home sooner because every moment he spent away was one less moment to spend with his mate.
Before he could do anything, Amelia flipped them over until she was straddling him. She then held his hands and ran them up her body from her thighs to her waist, and then to her chest. She bit her lip in anticipation before she lowered herself to kiss her mate.
But when their lips were almost touching, Jason frowned and immediately looked away. Amelia was confused for a moment before she realized that someone was speaking to him through the link, so she waited for his conversation to end. But she realized that something was wrong when the frown on his face deepened before he looked back at her.
“We need to head to the gate right now”, Jason said.
Putting on a tracksuit, Amelia joined Jason as they rushed out of their home and ran towards the pack’s front gate. They weren’t sure what they would find, but it was highly unusual to receive unscheduled visitors to the pack at such a late hour.
When they arrived at the gate, they could tell immediately that all the guards were on high alert and none of them had removed their hands from their weapons on their holsters. They immediately spotted Michael and Thomas who stepped aside to reveal the visitor they told him about.
It was a woman who was wearing a large hooded jacket that covered her face and was carrying a backpack. But it didn’t seem like she was carrying a weapon so Jason stepped closer and immediately smelled why the brothers had been so concerned that they called for him.
Glancing at Amelia, he noticed her take a whiff of the visitor’s scent and immediately frown. She had smelled the same thing he did and it made her uncomfortable.
Not wanting her to get too close, Jason held his hand in front of Amelia to tell her to stay back before he stepped forward to address the woman.
“Are you the one they call the Lycan King?” the woman asked.
Frowning at her question, Jason thought to himself that it was annoying that Allan had gone against his wishes and broadcasted to all that they had found the next Lycan king. And this woman was not the first to ask him if he was indeed the Lycan King.
“I represent the Lycans”, Jason said sternly. “But I am no King.”
The woman seemed to perk up at his words before she tilted her head as she looked at him.
“Yes, you are”, she said flatly.
Jason frowned again, wondering why so many people were insistent on crowning him when he didn’t want any additional titles.
“Tell me, what business does a pure-blood vampire have with a wolf pack?”, Jason asked concerned.
Her eyes flashed red through the darkness at his question, but she kept her head covered by the hood.
“I have a request for the Lycan king”, she said.
Jason looked back at his team concerned before he faced the woman again.
“Reveal yourself and tell me your request”, Jason said
The woman paused for a moment before she raised her hands and slowly lowered her hood to reveal a head of platinum blond hair that was brilliant enough to rival Amelia’s silver fur. She raised her blue eyes that glowed in the darkness to look at Jason.
“I am Adriana the first, and I seek sanctuary”, the woman announced.
This was the first time that any of them were this close to a pure-blood. Any wolf would do what they could to avoid pure-bloods at all costs. But now that she had requested sanctuary, they could not turn her away.
So they all prayed that the arrival of this new addition to the pack would not become an ominous event.
