Chapter 42

I stood there in utter shock. My father, the man who was supposed to protect me as a child… deceived everyone that he ever knew. I don't know when the attack happened, or where he went, but I do know that I searched for him and couldn't find him. Maybe that is because he ran away and let it all happen. Maybe it is because this huge plan of Logans has something so great that letting his whole pack get killed, letting his mate die, and losing his only child is worth it... I can't imagine what could be worth that much though. Nothing in my opinion is worth losing your family. To me family is everything. And because of my father, I lost everyone I ever knew. He is the fucking reason I wake up most nights with that recurring nightmare. He was the reason why I didn't trust anything that had to do with packs or mates. Up until today, I loved my father. However, right now the hate that I have for him outweighs everything I have in my heart. The only good thing that came out of losing everything was Gram and Shane. The Goddess only knows if I would have met either of them. I am happy I have. But truly wish that things would have been different.

"What does my father get out of this? I mean he gave up his Alpha title to work under someone... And for what?"

"Luna… That is not a question I can answer as far as why he gave up his title and left his pack and family to die... What I can answer is that your father was promised more power than an Alpha could ever imagine if he did this with Logan. He was promised riches beyond his wildest dreams."

"Did my father ever love me?"

At that moment, all I could do was cry. I fell to my knees and sobbed like a baby. Shane came right over to my side and sat on the floor next to me. I pulled my face away from my hands and the tears continued to fall. Shane pulled me close.

" I know this is a lot for you, Sierra. What I need you to know is that I do love you with every ounce of my being. I promise on my life that I will never leave your side. I will stand and fight with you until my dying breath. You mean more to me than you will ever know."

I couldn't say anything back to Shane. The tears fell harder and I sobbed louder. All kinds of thoughts ran through my mind. But one stuck out more than the others.

What if Hilda is working for Logan? Or my father is a prisoner? What if my father is a bad guy? Could my mother have known about my father? With my body pressed as close to Shane as it could be I began slowing my breathing and matching it with his. My sobs became more quiet and I was able to compose myself. Shane and I both stood back up, but he never left my side or took his arm off from around my waist.

"Do you know anything else?"

I asked Hilda hoping that she didn't have any other damning information but at the same time was hoping she did have something else.

"I am sorry Luna but I do not have anything else to say about this."

"Thank you for your time."

"You are very welcome Alpha and Luna."

"I will have one of my guards bring you back, considering my mother is not available.."

"No need, she kept her driver waiting outside. I will just go back with him."

"Are you sure?"

"Completely."

Shane, Beta Jackson and I all walked Hilda to the door and wished her well. Once the door was closed Shane began to talk to Jackson.

"Beta I need you to get every piece of information you can on Alpha Logan and Jessie. Also, can you go and send out some guards to grab Claudia? I need to ask her a few questions."

"Yes, Alpha."

"Bring her into the holding cell where my mother is and I will be there shortly."

"Yes sir."

***** Shane's POV *****

Sierra was just given some really heavy news. However, she is my mate. I will never do to her what her father did to her and her family.

"Would you like something to eat babe?"

"No, I am not hungry honestly"

"I know you might not be, but you need to eat. How about something small."

"Fine..." She responded sounding a bit upset.

"Want to split a sandwich?"

"Sure, that's fine."

Shane- Good

I got right to making the sandwich for the both of us. I only did turkey and cheese with a little bit of mayo. Nothing big. I know that her emotions probably have her stomach turning right now. At least I know what my emotions would have done to me. After we ate I cleaned up and we sat there for a minute before I began to speak.

"I want to go and question Claudia. And also my mother. Do you want to come with me?"

Sierra’s eyes filled with tears.

"You don't have to come with me if you don't want to." I said to her wanting her to know that she had a choice.

"No, I want to come with you."

"Are you sure?"

"Very."

***** Sierra's POV *****

I want to tear his mother a new ass, and rip Claudia’s head off! I need to find out everything Claudia knows, and I want to know why his mother acted the way she did. Shane and I left the kitchen and headed to the holding cells. This is part of the pack house that I have never been in before. We were still on the first floor as Shane unlocked a door. We descended the stairs into a dimly lit room. There was a small hallway before there was a string of cells that lined it. The first two cells that we passed were empty. Then the next one held hands mother.. But that was not the one that I was looking to speak with. Right after Carolina’s cell was Claudia’s. Shane and I both came to a complete stop once we were in front of her cell. I stood off to the side of Shane so the first one Claudia saw was Shane and not me.

"Alpha… What am I doing here? I didn't do anything wrong."

"Well, Claudia information has come to my attention that you have."

"What do you mean by that."

"Well, it has come to our attention that you have information about another Alpha and his plans.."

Claudia gasped as she was surprised to hear Shane say that.

"I am not sure that I know what you mean."

"Stop playing fucking dumb Claudia. I know that you know something about Alpha Logan in regards to my mate Sierra."

"You know she should not be your mate. I should. We would make…"

"ENOUGH!"

Shane used his alpha tone causing Claudia to whimper.

"I have told you that she is my mate and that is it.. There is nothing that can change my mind. I love her and I will be with her forever. But you have answers that I want!"

"I don't have to tell you anything.."

"Fine then I guess you becoming a rogue is what you want then.."

"What?! You wouldn't…"

I stepped from behind Shane and spoke.

"He wouldn't have to. Because I have no problem doing it. You either tell us what we want to know. Or become rogue..easy as that.."

"You bitch.."

"Bitch? No, not yet. But I can show you bitch if you would like. I am giving you an option. I don't have to... I can just make you a rogue and we can end this here. Is that what you want?"

I wanted to kick her out of this pack. Claudia kept her mouth shut once again.

"Good. Now back to the question. What is it that you know?" Shane asked her again.

Claudia took a deep breath and dropped her head.

"Jessie asked me to please keep an eye on Sierra. He wanted me to also keep a close eye on her ring that she is wearing. When I asked him why he said that it was important to his alpha and that he would be so happy once he got his hands on it. I asked what was in it for me, and Jessie promised to make me his chosen mate and that we would be richer beyond our wildest dreams."

"And that was enough for you to deceive your own Alpha and Luna?"

"Well yes, because your mother told me a long time ago that I was going to be your chosen Luna, and when you found your mate that all changed."

"But I never agreed to that."

"That is not what your mother told me. Plus I want to be loved like you love her. I know that he will make good on his promise just as long as I keep up my end of the bargain. So I agreed to it all. Plus your mother knew about it."

"What do you mean she knew about it?" I questioned her now feeling my blood boiling.

"Jessie said.."

"You stupid bitch you better keep your mouth shut.." Shane's mother shouted from her cell.

"Well Claudia, I think that is all I need from you right now. But you will stay here until I know I don't need anything else and know that you can be trusted again." Shane explained to her.

We then walked over to Shane's mother. Shane's eyes were very dark. I knew that he was about to let his wolf take over.

"Mother you better explain yourself... If you don't then I will charge you with treason.."

How could the witch not know that his mother knew about this? And to top it off Shane's mother stood there with her arms crossed and a smile on her face.
