Grey must have stood in front of that door for an hour just wondering how she was going to walk up to it and knock. She had the spare key in her pocket but it didn’t feel right to use it anymore. She felt like an intruder in the night.

Sky and Ela walked her up to the apartment and gave her their best wishes. Now she was frozen in time. Unable to take the next step to the next phase of her life. It would either be with him or without him. Sky told her he was home so she couldn’t lie to them that he wasn’t home.

She sucked in a deep breath and wrapped her fingers around the handle. She walked in. She would have to do it like pulling off a wax strip.

“West?” She whispered, hoping he wouldn’t hear.

Instead she heard the sound of cups clinging in the kitchen.

He was drinking. She knew. He was expecting her. He was hunched over the kitchen isle swirling the ice cubes in his glass. He straightened his back when she walked in.

“West… you’ve been drinking.” Was that really the best she could come up with? “Listen I’m sorry.” She hurried around the isle to cup his cheeks, but he brushed her off and backed up.

“No Grey.” He spat.

“Please hear me out.” Her voice came out small.

“Hear how you lied about who you are? What the fuck do you take me for? Do you really think I would have given a damn if you weren’t rich?”

Tears stung her eyes. He didn’t understand. It was just about survival nothing else.

“I didn’t know I would fall in love with you.” She sniffled. “I didn’t intentionally lie. Mia just assumed and I let everyone believe the story.”

“You came up with details. Did your father really die Grey?”

“Yes! It’s because of him I was able to come here. A friend of his is supporting me.”

He ran a hand through his hair. He closed the gap between them and gripped her shoulders. The hurt was clear in his eyes.

“Why me? Did you want to empty me out when I relaxed?”

Grey shrugged out of his hold. “No! I’ve never asked you for anything!”

“Doesn’t mean you couldn’t have drained me dry. I don’t know you Grey. I don’t know your life before here.”

She scrawled, “Because I’m not an heiress I can’t be decent? I’m not a thief or a gold digger. I’ve actually worked for everything I got.”

He laughed cynically. “So I haven’t? Empires don’t stand on their own.”

Her face was stained with tears while his with rage.

“I tried to tell you West. Today. That was what was so urgent.”

“We’ve been going out for months.” He shot back.

“I really love you West.”

He shook his head, “So did I. You were the last person I expected to play me. I knew I should have stayed away from women.”

“No!” she reached for him. This couldn’t be the end. Not after everything they shared.

How would she get him out of her heart? He was permanently stuck on her skin. She would have to see him every day knowing what they used to share had gone up in flames. He touched her tear stained face and wiped away her tears. He cupped her cheeks and stared into her eyes. Her heart was pounding so hard her chest was aching.

He pulled her close and captured her lips. Fast and hungry her devoured her. Heat rose to her chest replacing the pain. She moaned against his lips and pulled him closer. She wanted to fight for them, make him understand her position or even better for them to start over. She would tell him everything. About her life, her college days and her thrilling high school ones. It would be different this time. He pulled back, still gripping her face.

“Turn around.” He whispered.

“What?”

West motioned at the isle. “You want me to what?” She shook herself.

“I’m going to fuck you off me Grey.”

That felt like an arrow to the heart. She was numb. Earlier she had been pelted with eggs and rotten tomatoes now the man she loved wanted to fuck her one last time so he could get her off his skin. It was a hard blow to take in. Like a robot she turned around. She pulled up her hoodie and laid flat on the marble isle. This was the one place in the house they hadn’t done it.

West didn’t say anything just shoved her pants down to her knees. He slapped her ass cheeks and she winced. She heard the fabric of his sweatpants fall to his ankles. She bit her lower lip to keep from moaning when West’s fingers ran up and down her opening. Seconds later the tip of his cock was teasing her damp entrance. She gripped the side of the isle. West pushed in. Grey cried out. She wasn’t properly lubed.

“I’m sorry.” West murmured.

His hands travelled inside her hoodie and found her breasts. He gripped the right one and yanked as he ploughed into her. He was rough and fast as if he was chasing his climax to be over with it. Grey didn’t hold back her cries. Not because it hurt but because this might be the last time their flesh touched like this. The sound of her cries and flesh smacking flesh filled the kitchen. When she came West was still pumping into her, gripping her tight as he rode out his orgasm.

“The last time Grey.” He said close to her ear.

Grey breathed heavily. West pulled away, leaving her empty and alone.

“You should leave.” He said.

“Wait—”

“We’ve got nothing left to talk about. You can pick up your stuff tomorrow.” He walked away back to his room.

Grey contemplated falling to the marble floor and wallowing, but she wouldn’t let herself fall that low. She picked up her pants and fixed her hair. Heartbreak wouldn’t leave her broken.

Three hours later Grey finally got to her dorm room. She walked in and instantly Ela and Sky were on their feet. Ela’s face instantly after just looking at Grey.

“I’m sorry.” She said.

Grey let out a shaky breath. All she wanted to do was crawl into her bed and sleep forever.

“He hates me.” Grey said.

“No… he’s a hot head and after Harley it kind of messed with his head. Give him time Grey.” Sky said.

Grey shook her head. “He wouldn’t even listen.”

“Trust me Grey. You make him happy. I know my cousin. He’ll come back.” Sky’s optimism should have given her hope, but she was too exhausted to latch on to anything.

Her legs were weak and her vision blurred she reached out for something to support herself, but grabbed thin air. Ela reached for her but missed. Grey fell to the ground. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head. Her friends panicked. Sky picked her up and carried her out and rushed her to the campus hospital.
