Chapter 179
The security room echoed with thunderous snores. The two new guards were still fast asleep, unaware of what had happened during the night.
James banged on the door several times before waking them.
"Go check the surveillance footage."
William ordered.
James turned on the computer, found the relevant videoand opened it to a screen full of static.
"Mr. Morgan, the surveillance has been destroyed. We can't see anything."
William narrowed his eyes. Go search outside.
They had brought several bodyguards with them this time. James led them into the cemetery for a thorough search.
William stood at the entrance, surveying the cemetery's layout. He was thinking about where someone could easily hide, where those two criminals had taken Sarah.
If it were a simple kidnapping, they should have called him to demand ransom, but his phone had remained silent.
This was what scared him most—if they raped and killed her directly without giving her a chance to survive, then no matter how much money he prepared, it would be too late.
As he stood there anxiously, his phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled it out quickly—it was James calling.
"Mr. Morgan, we found her."
William's heart suddenly tightened.
"Where?"
As he spoke, he rushed toward the direction James and the others had gone, passing small grave mounds, and saw several people in the distance.
He hung up and strode over.
In front of Nancy's grave, both Nola and Sarah had passed out, lying on the ground still in kneeling positions. Their bodies had gone numb.
When William arrived, James and several bodyguards were already untying them.
"Sarah, wake up."
William crouched down, brushed the disheveled hair from Sarah's face, patted her cheek a few times, and called to her.
Sarah slowly regained consciousness at the sound of his voice. Her first reaction was to struggle and escape, but her body was stiff and unmoving.. After being tied up all night, her whole body was numb.
"Don't come near me, don't come near me, don't hurt me..."
Sarah was terrified, crying and shouting.
She could speak, which relieved William. Compared to what he had imagined, the outcome was relatively good. At least she was alive, though she seemed to have been badly frightened by something.
"Sarah, it's me."
He said again.
Sarah shook her head.
"Please spare me, I didn't kill you..."
She was clearly terrified. When William looked back toward the parking lot, the black Maybach was slowly driving away.
"Sarah, do you know who kidnapped you? Was it Robert?"
It took Sarah a while to realize it was William speaking. She burst into tears and threw herself into his arms.
"William, I don't want to stay here. There's a female ghost here. She grabbed my hair and tried to gouge out my eyes. She also said she would take the baby from my belly. I'm so scared!"
Sarah was crying incoherently.
William urgently wanted to know the truth. He pulled her from his embrace and continued asking,
"What happened to you all night?"
Sarah shook her head, too emotionally overwhelmed to speak. She cried and was about to pass out again.
Nola, awakened by a bodyguard nearby, began rambling wildly.
"I didn't kill anyone; it wasn't me who killed her. You had poor driving skills yourself, you can't blame me..."
The bodyguard smelled the foul odor on her and disgustedly stepped back.
William's gaze fell on the tombstone. The words 'Nancy Davis' made him pause. The woman in the photo on the stone was smiling brightly, her fox-like eyes almost identical to Ava's.
He recalled that Ava visited a grave every year, but he had never accompanied her and didn't know where her mother was buried.
He had learned something about the grudges between Ava's mother and Nola. Now seeing these two tied up and thrown at Nancy's grave to kneel all night, driven mad with fear.
Thinking back to seeing Ava at the hospital yesterday, looking gloomy and on the verge of exploding, and her and Lucas's accusations against Sarah, he suddenly had some clues about this incident.
This silent, ruthless yet non-injurious revenge that inflicted tremendous mental torture—it was definitely something that little woman would do.
He had thought that over the past three years, he had raised a docile little lamb. Only in recent months had he seen clearly that she was a fox with hidden claws, not someone just anyone could bully.
Sarah had completely passed out. William picked her up and walked toward the exit. He guessed that they had been tied up, kneeling at the grave all night, and were scared out of their wits.
He saw that Sarah had no obvious external injuries, but to be safe, she still needed a full physical examination at the hospital. She was pregnant, after all.
"Take them back first, to the hospital."
William carried Sarah ahead. The bodyguards behind him were somewhat at a loss with Nola. She had defecated and urinated yesterday, and her body was filthy. The bodyguards didn't know how to handle taking her away.
James frowned.
"Just drag her."
So, in the same position she had been dragged here yesterday, Nola was again dragged out by bodyguards holding her arms on both sides.
Nola now reeked. The two bodyguards had to cover their noses and breathe through their mouths the whole way. She had been so frightened by those men yesterday that she had completely emptied her bowels.
At the parking area, William naturally wouldn't allow Nola in his car.
The bodyguards were also disgusted. They took some plastic bags from the car and threw them at Nola.
"Wrap yourself up completely in these, or we can't take you."
Getting that filth in the car would be unbearable.
Nola completely ignored the bodyguard's words. Her eyes were vacant, and she kept repeating,
"Don't come for me, don't come for me..."
Seeing this, James thought Nola might have been scared insane. The boss was anxious to take Sarah away. He covered his nose and told the two bodyguards,
"You two watch her here. I'll call her family to pick her up."
In Nola's condition, there was really no way to get her in the car. That would ruin the car.
James looked up the number and called Steven, giving him the address and asking him to come pick her up.
At the hospital, Ava had slept all night soundly and had already settled the payment for those men in the morning. The leader looked at the transfer amount on his phone and smiled.
"Ms. Davis, if you have this kind of work in the future, call us again. We guarantee your satisfaction."
Ava’s lips curved faintly.
"If someone named William Morgan comes to trouble you, just tell him that Ava Davis paid you to do this."
The men were stunned.
"William Morgan?"
Wasn't that the tycoon who often appeared in financial news? They heard he was cold, ruthless, and very capable.
"Ms. Davis, don't scare us. Will this offend Mr. Morgan?"
Making money was one thing, but they still valued their lives. If they really offended William, they wouldn't have good days ahead.
"Just push everything onto me."
William wouldn't bother dealing with small fries. She told the men to blame everything on her—first, she didn't want to implicate others, and second, she wanted to completely provoke William so he would immediately proceed with the divorce.
She was tired of this life. She wanted to leave this place and start a new life.
