Chapter 145

Chapter 145

Ava glanced at the water Sarah handed her and thought to herself, who does she think she's fooling?

"Since you put it that way, I don't mind at all. Actually, I think the glass in your hand looks better. How about we switch?"

Sarah froze for a moment, then quickly recovered.

"Ava, these two glasses are the same - they're both lemon water. I've already drunk from mine. It's not that I won't switch with you, but I have a bit of a cold lately, and I'm afraid of passing it to you."

Ava's eyes stayed fixed on Sarah for several seconds, making her feel uncomfortable.

"Since you have a cold, I don't dare use the glass you've touched either. Why don't you drink both glasses? When you have a cold, you need to drink more water anyway, and the vitamin C will help you get better faster."

Sarah realized that the woman in front of her had changed - she wasn't as easy to fool as before. She was clearly on guard now, no longer so gullible.

At that moment, William came downstairs after finishing a cigarette and saw the three of them talking.

For some reason, he wanted to avoid this troublesome situation. He didn't dare face Sarah now, and even less so Ava. These two women were together, mixed with that troublemaker Emily - the scene was too awkward.

He turned to leave, but Emily's sharp eyes spotted him.

"William, don't go."

William stopped in his tracks and reluctantly walked over. His eyes swept across the three women as he asked,

"What's going on?"

Sarah burst into tears in a second.

"William, my sister offered me water, and after drinking a few sips, my stomach started hurting. Please help me."

Sarah looked extremely weak, barely able to stand, needing support.

William regretted it - he should have stayed on deck until the yacht docked.

Before he could reach out, Sarah had already grabbed onto him, complaining tearfully,

"William, I think there's something wrong with this water. You should check it. My stomach hurts so much. Nothing's going to happen to our baby, right?"

Emily was frantic.

"Sarah, don't be scared. We have our family doctor on the yacht. Although the medical equipment isn't as complete as that of a hospital, his medical skills are good. Wait here, I'll call him right now."

With that, Emily immediately called the family doctor.

Sarah was helped to a nearby chair in the dining room to rest. A few minutes later, the family doctor arrived. Emily went to meet him.

"Dr. Miller, thank you for coming. Please check on Sarah quickly. Her stomach hurts really badly. Is she going to miscarry?"

Dr. Miller was the family doctor who served the Morgan Family exclusively. His mentor was a famous old doctor in Emerald City with excellent medical skills. Dr. Miller had learned from him with amazing talent, and though middle-aged, his medical skills were already renowned throughout the city.

If not for the Morgan Family's high pay, they wouldn't have been able to recruit such talent.

He came over and looked at both Ava and Sarah's faces, noticing both looked a bit off. Sarah was sitting in the chair, groaning heavily, looking very uncomfortable.

He examined Sarah, then his expression relaxed.

"This young lady is pregnant. There's nothing wrong with her body. Where do you feel uncomfortable?"

Sarah immediately cried out, "My stomach hurts. Dr. Miller, it started hurting after I drank the water she gave me. Please check what's wrong with this water."

Ava was speechless. Whenever William was around, Sarah acted like she was in a soap opera. Pregnancy, abortion...

But she was curious about what was actually in that water.

William watched these people coldly, feeling a headache coming on.

Dr. Miller took the glass and brought it to his nose to smell it. His expression changed instantly.

"Where did this water come from? There's abortion medicine in it. You absolutely must not touch it."

Sarah's expression froze, then she immediately burst into tears.

"William, I'm so scared. Why would Ava give me water like this? My baby is only a few weeks old. Why is she so cruel to me?"

William was also shocked. He had thought it was just women being jealous of each other, but he never imagined it would involve something as vicious as abortion medicine.

He looked up at Ava with doubt, as if questioning her.

That look shattered Ava's heart.

"William, she handed me the water. When I wouldn't drink it, she came to frame me. If you don't believe me, you can check the surveillance footage."

William just wanted to know the truth, but he didn't want to make this embarrassing matter public by going through the trouble of checking surveillance footage.

"Ava, according to you, Sarah gave you the water, and she put the medicine in it herself. Then why would she give you a glass of water with abortion medicine in it? Unless you're pregnant too?"

According to what she said, the whole thing made no logical sense. Why would Sarah put abortion medicine in Ava's glass? Who was lying?

Ava's breath caught.

"No, I'm not."

She answered.

Sarah scoffed, thinking to herself that Ava was at least sensible enough not to mention her pregnancy at this point. Sarah was certain that Ava treasured this baby and was terrified that William would harm the child in her belly.

At that moment, Dr. Miller looked at Ava's pale face and asked,

"Madam, you don't look well. Would you like me to examine you?"

Ava nervously broke out in a cold sweat.

"No need, thank you, Dr. Miller."

Sarah cried pitifully.

"William, you must protect our baby. This is my only chance to be a mother. If I lose him, I don't want to live either. The baby and I will die together."

William now had PTSD from the word "die" coming out of Sarah's mouth. Whenever he heard her say that word, his whole body tensed up, tense to the point of suffocation. It wasn't that he was really afraid she would die - it was that suffocating feeling of being threatened and blackmailed that made it hard for him to breathe.

He said coldly, "Stop crying. No one's going to do anything to you."

Sarah kept pressing.

"Are you really going to ignore the person who tried to harm our child? My baby - I don't know if he's okay right now, if he's in pain."

She placed her hands on her abdomen. "Baby, don't be afraid. Mommy will protect you and won't let evil people hurt you. If anything happens to you, I'll go to the other side to be with you. Even in death, we won't forgive the person who harmed us."

Emily stood to the side, almost in tears, too.

"William, you need to deal with Ava. Look how cruel she is - she could do this to an unborn child. Today, luckily, nothing serious happened, but you absolutely can't let this go easily. If this matter just ends like this, what will happen in the future? How can Sarah live her life from now on, having to guard against people trying to harm her every day? How can that be good for the baby's development?"

William's head was about to explode. Sarah and Emily were going back and forth, singing the same tune, while Ava, the one being accused, stood calmly to the side.

He raised his eyelids and asked her, "Do you have anything to say?"
