Chapter 134
Everyone gradually arrived, and the servants on the cruise ship had been busy all afternoon. Exquisite food, seafood, red wine, champagne, fruits, and small desserts were all ready. The rooms had been tidied up as well.
Everyone excitedly boarded the ship with their room numbers, needing to take their luggage up first.
William's luxury suite was on the top floor. Both of their luggage was packed in one suitcase, and James led the way carrying it upstairs.
William carried the giant gift box with Ava following behind.
"Ava, did you pack condoms when you were packing?"
Ava's heart skipped a beat. What was this man thinking about in broad daylight? Always thinking about that kind of thing, not even afraid his assistant would laugh at him.
Considering James was still ahead of them, she quietly replied, "I didn't bring any."
William didn't treat his assistant like a person at all, acting as if he were invisible. He asked again,
"Why didn't you bring them? Don't you want to?"
Ava wanted to cover his mouth. "Let's talk about this later."
William glanced at her reddened ear tips and couldn't help but smile.
Walking ahead, James felt like he had eyes on his back. Thank goodness he could keep his mouth shut. He'd heard countless little conversations like this, but if he shared even one of them with the group chat, it would explode.
Look at William, so impatient. Usually, at the company with that cold, restrained face, employees had only seen him scold people. Who would have thought that in front of Mrs. Ava Morgan, he'd look so unsatisfied and pathetic? His cold CEO persona was about to collapse.
James quickly dropped off the luggage in the room and left, afraid he might see something he shouldn't. Curiosity killed the cat, and he didn't want William to silence him. His fiancée was waiting for him in their room anyway.
In the room, Ava tried to avoid William, afraid he'd bring up that topic again.
But of course, what you fear most is what happens.
William opened the suitcase on the floor and rummaged through it for a while, looking disappointed.
"You really didn't bring any?"
He thought she was just too embarrassed to say so with James present, but after turning the suitcase inside out, he really couldn't find any.
Ava sat on the edge of the bed, not daring to speak.
William sat down next to her, then leaned back and fell onto the bed. The movement was so sudden that the mattress trembled from the impact of his weight.
"Ava..."
He called out, his voice lingering. One hand played with her hair that hung down her back.
Ava's hair stood on end at his call. That tone of "Ava" was too familiar. Every time she begged for mercy with a crying voice, he would kiss her eyes and say,
"Ava, open your eyes and look at me."
Right now, she could guess what he wanted to do without even thinking.
Ava shifted her bottom a few inches away from him.
The next second, William hooked his arm around her waist and pressed her beneath him.
"Ava, are you doing this on purpose? Are you mad at me?"
He thought she was still sulking, deliberately not bringing the condoms. She clearly knew he wasn't used to other brands - they were thick, and the size didn't fit either.
William looked down at Ava from above, brushing all the loose hair from her forehead behind her ears.
"Ava, how long has it been since we did it?"
A long time, so long he couldn't even count. Before, as long as he wasn't on a business trip and she didn't have her period, they would do it almost every day. He finally realized there was a problem between them, though he didn't know when this state of affairs had started.
He'd been so busy lately and had neglected her a lot. It had been a long time since he'd given her jewelry or bags. William blamed himself for being careless.
"Ava, why are you avoiding me?"
He wanted to get to the bottom of it. She wasn't this cold before. She used to be very sensitive, responding to just a touch. Now she kept making excuses and avoided his touch like the plague.
He felt they were very out of sync in this area.
Ava's lips trembled as she carefully asked him,
"Can we get up and talk?"
In such a dangerous position, she was afraid he'd do something, and also afraid of pressure on her belly.
William turned a deaf ear to her words.
"Explain yourself, and I'll let you go."
Ava put her hands on her belly and pushed him with that tiny bit of force,
"I'm not avoiding you."
Seeing that he couldn't get any answer, William still didn't give up and kept asking, wanting to understand. This kind of thing really affected their relationship. She was clearly avoiding him, yet still lying.
And if this continued, he couldn't take it.
"Ava, explain. Did I hurt you? Are you uncomfortable? Is it the position?"
Ava's face turned bright red. "None of those, get up."
William couldn't figure it out. "Then is it too short?"
He fell into deep self-doubt, recalling the last time they did it. The experience wasn't that bad, was it? He clearly remembered her every reaction. She had clearly enjoyed it.
Soon, he decided the problem wasn't on his end.
"Ava, tell the truth. Do you have someone else in your heart?"
Women have sex for love. If she didn't want to do it with him, there was only one possibility - she didn't love him anymore and had someone else in her heart.
Thinking this, William's chest unconsciously grew heavy. Last time, when she went to Harmony City to find Joseph and came up empty, had she found something out?
Hearing his accusatory words, Ava's tears suddenly fell.
"What did you say?"
She was furious, her eyes red.
Hearing him make such baseless accusations again, her heart felt stuck and terribly uncomfortable.
She loved him, loved him so humbly without leaving herself any way out, and this was what she got in return - his suspicion.
Why did he have to doubt her feelings for him?
The one who was unfaithful was clearly him. Ava felt insulted.
William narrowed his eyes and asked again,
"Did you find Joseph?"
Ava stared into his eyes. He was seriously asking her, not joking.
That was what hurt the most.
"Yes, I found Joseph."
She turned her face away, not wanting to look into his eyes while lying, answering along with his words, so angry her whole body felt numb.
Hearing her affirmative answer, William's face immediately darkened.
"If you don't want to continue this marriage, let's get the divorce procedures done quickly. I won't keep a woman who's half-hearted. You cheated during marriage, so you're at fault and shouldn't get compensation, but I'll allow you to take all the jewelry, bags, and clothes."
His words calmed Ava's wavering heart. Sure enough, he was as ruthless as ever. He casually arranged the divorce matter so clearly, even being considerate of her, allowing her to take away those handouts he'd given her.
Ava felt so sad that she laughed.
"Thank you for thinking of me. I'll take what I bought myself. Things that aren't mine, I don't want."
William got up from her and stormed out, slamming the door.
He stood on the deck, blowing in the sea breeze for a long time, forgetting to light the cigarette between his fingers.
He made a call to James.
"Look into who Ava has been in contact with recently."
On the other end, James was with his girlfriend. William's words made him pause. He only had him investigate Mrs. Ava Morgan's recent whereabouts when he was angry.
They were just fine earlier, showing off their love on the beach, with company employees going crazy watching them. What did they say wrong now to have another fight?
James reminded him,
"Mr. Morgan, hasn't Mrs. Ava Morgan been with Howard lately? She probably hasn't been in contact with anyone special, right?"
"What, can't I use my own assistant anymore?"
James immediately accepted the order.
Ava straightened her clothes and sat up. She didn't want to explain. Let him stay angry. Why should he always say such ridiculous things to make her angry? Let him experience what it feels like to have a third party involved, even if it was fake. Making him angry counted as venting some of her frustration.
Evelyn called her on Facebook. She changed clothes and went to the first floor of the cruise ship, where the party had already started. Everyone had put on their most formal clothes, drinking and toasting, everyone's faces filled with laughter. It was quite lively.
Ava took a plate to get some food.
"Ava?"
A voice called out to her. Ava gave Daniel a smile.
"Ava, where's William? Where are you hiding him?"
