Chapter 133
Ava felt uncomfortable being called "Mrs. Ava Morgan" over and over again. She emphasized once more,
"Just call me Ava. If Mr. Morgan hears you calling me that, you'll get scolded."
The person who had just spoken covered their mouth.
At that moment, someone from HR came in to notify everyone,
"The bus the company ordered is here. We can head to Shadow City now. If you're ready, follow me. Those bringing family members or waiting for someone can take the vehicles behind."
After saying this, everyone cheered.
After working overtime for so long, they hadn't had such a relaxing activity in ages.
Previous team-building events were just dinners, karaoke, or house parties. Same old routine with nothing to look forward to.
But this celebration party was even more elaborate than the annual meeting, and their minds had already wandered off.
Ava stood up and walked along with everyone else.
Evelyn took her hand, "Ava, are you coming with us too?"
Ava nodded, "I'm still part of the design department for now, so of course I'm going with you guys. What, not welcome?"
After she finished speaking, a few girls behind them caught up and walked together,
"Welcome, of course you're welcome. We want to hear some dirt on Mr. Morgan."
Evelyn laughed awkwardly, "I thought you'd be riding in Mr. Morgan's Bentley."
Ava got on the bus with her colleagues.
William got the news on his end.
James hurried into the office,
"Mr. Morgan, the handwriting on Mrs. Ava Morgan's dress has been sent for analysis. The results should be ready in a day."
William nodded. He could tell the handwriting on the dress was deliberately imitating someone, and having professionals analyze it would confirm who wrote it.
He'd wait for tomorrow's results.
He had an answer in mind, but that stubborn woman at home wouldn't believe it. He had to get evidence to show her.
William stood up and draped his suit jacket over his arm,
"It's about time. Call Ava down, let's go."
James hesitated before answering,
"Mrs. Ava Morgan got on the bus."
William stopped in his tracks and let out a heavy sigh.
Just because they argued a bit in the car, this woman was holding a grudge against him. Not taking the Bentley and choosing to ride the smelly bus instead—was she trying to prove she was down-to-earth?
If Howard found out, he'd misunderstand and think William was bullying her again.
He thought to himself, if she loves riding the bus so much, let her ride it. He wouldn't care anymore.
In less than three hours, the first group arrived at Shadow City.
HR first arranged a beach BBQ to keep everyone entertained while they waited, so they could snack before everyone gathered to board the yacht.
William had originally planned to take Ava back to Howard's place first, but now that she wasn't in his car, he didn't dare go back alone. If Howard saw him without her, he'd definitely get another scolding.
This time, he personally carried her dress box from the parking lot.
Some colleagues at the beach BBQ spotted their CEO and shouted,
"Look, look! Mr. Morgan is carrying a big gift box!"
A few of William's fans squealed,
"Wow, so handsome. The male lead from a drama just appeared."
"Don't talk nonsense, Mrs. Ava Morgan is right over there. Our Mr. Morgan is taken."
William walked straight into the crowd carrying the dress. Ava was sitting on the beach, munching on chicken wings. When the light in front of her was blocked, she looked up to see that unhappy face.
"Keep it yourself."
William said this, but still hadn't put the dress down.
Ava quickly chewed a few times, swallowed the food in her mouth, and looked up at him,
"I can't carry it."
She wasn't being dramatic—the box really was quite heavy. Normally, she could manage it, but now that she was pregnant, she didn't dare push herself with things like this.
William asked irritably,
"Was the bus comfortable?"
Ava turned her head away without stubbornly answering. Of course, the bus wasn't as comfortable as his Bentley. She just didn't want to be stuck with him and end up fighting again.
Now, surrounded by people, she definitely wouldn't fight with him.
"Want some?"
Ava held up the skewer in her other hand and asked.
William saw that her attitude had softened, and in front of so many employees, he didn't want to embarrass her. Normally, he wouldn't touch BBQ food at all.
"My hands are full, you feed me."
He held the box and bent down a bit.
Ava grabbed his pants and slowly stood up, holding the skewer to feed him.
People around them frantically took photos with their phones.
"Ahh, so sweet, oh my god! I never knew our cold Mr. Morgan could be like this."
"Oh my god, are they filming a drama?"
"Did our Mrs. Ava Morgan save the galaxy in her past life? If I save the galaxy and do good deeds in this life, is it too late?"
...
William bit the meat Ava offered him, swallowed it, and had her wipe his mouth too.
The two were just having their normal couple interactions, completely unaware they were being watched by employees, stirring up everyone's romantic feelings.
In group chats without leadership, photos taken from various angles spread like wildfire. Their sweet interactions had already been turned into memes by quick-fingered people.
Everyone was especially interested in their relationship. Some said Mr. Morgan pursued Mrs. Ava Morgan first; others said Mrs. Ava Morgan pursued Mr. Morgan first. The two sides stuck to their opinions, neither giving in.
Someone pulled James into the group.
[James, give us the inside scoop. Did Mr. Morgan pursue Mrs. Ava Morgan first, or did Mrs. Ava Morgan pursue Mr. Morgan first?]
James inexplicably received a bunch of messages. He opened the group and saw countless messages, and before he could read one, it was already pushed away by new chats.
He did see the question clearly, though. These people were crazy, daring to bet on this, with the loser buying the winner breakfast for a week.
He didn't dare gossip about William's affairs. James was known for being tight-lipped; otherwise, he couldn't have stayed by William's side for so long. He knew William hated gossip the most.
He sent a meme announcing he had something important to say, and the group finally quieted down.
[Just take a look at these photos and delete them, don't spread them around. You know Mr. Morgan's personality—don't come crying to me later.]
With that said, everyone stopped joking around and tearfully opened their albums to delete photos.
[James, give us some inside info?]
[James, please, we promise not to gossip.]
[We just saw another side of Mr. Morgan today; he's so devoted to his wife. James, tell us more about their love story.]
James thought to himself, 'You think this is sweet? You haven't seen these two fight—each one more childish than the other.'
[Alright, alright, everyone disperse. You've all seen how our Mr. and Mrs. Morgan interact. That's how they usually are, spreading sweetness every day.]
James lied through his teeth. Their daily routine was more like throwing daggers at each other.
Everyone replied,
"James is so stingy. What's wrong with telling us a bit?"
James had already left the group chat.
