Chapter 166: "We've All Been Deceived."
Chapter 166: "We've All Been Deceived."
Fabian's POV
Theo and I finished handling the company affairs in the afternoon.
"Damn it!"
Theo slammed the documents on the table.
"Why are there always so many troubles!"
He irritably tugged at his tie, his whole body appearing restless and agitated.
I toyed with the pen in my hand, narrowing my eyes.
"Don't you think something is strange? Why are problems cropping up at this exact moment? I just contacted Mrs. Frost, and not only are we having trouble, they are too."
Theo paused, a flash of alertness crossing his eyes.
Just then, the office door was pushed open and Logan walked in.
"Fabian's right."
Logan's face was grave as he crossed his arms.
"My parents called, urging me to return to the Shadow Wolf Pack quickly."
My heart suddenly sank, an ominous premonition enveloping my entire body.
"Theo, quickly call Sophia and check if she's safe."
Theo's expression turned terrible.
He hurriedly pulled out his phone and dialed Sophia's number, but the other end was switched off.
Logan said nervously, "What's going on? It's already afternoon, Sophia can't possibly still be asleep."
Theo growled, "Fuck! Has she encountered some danger?"
"That's impossible!" I said. "I just finished a call with Mrs. Frost. Kieran hasn't returned to the Frost Wolf Pack, which means he's still with Sophia."
"Knock, knock, knock."
The knocking interrupted our tense nerves.
The secretary pushed the door open. "Mr. Fabian, Sebastian has important news for you."
"Let him come up."
Sebastian's expression was somewhat serious.
"Gentlemen, Miss Sophia asked me to pass along a message. She and Mr. Kieran have returned to the Blood Moon Pack. Please don't worry."
What? Why did Sophia suddenly go home?
I asked in confusion, "Did something happen at the Blood Moon Pack?"
Sebastian shook his head.
"I'm not quite sure about that. According to Miss Sophia, it should be that Mr. Will's health has deteriorated, so she rushed back."
"Alright!" Logan was visibly relieved.
"Perhaps she's taking care of Will, so she didn't notice her phone was off."
He raised his wrist to check his watch.
"In that case, I'll head back first to handle matters with the Shadow Wolf Pack."
He walked to Theo's side, patted his shoulder, and left the office.
Sebastian also left.
The door closed again, leaving only Theo and me in the room.
Strangely, Sebastian's words didn't lighten my mood at all; instead, I felt increasingly heavy.
Theo sighed.
"Forget it, Fabian. Let's go have a meeting with those old folks first. After things are resolved, we can go find Sophia."
I took a deep breath, suppressing the unease in my heart, and nodded.
What followed was a three-hour emergency meeting.
Since Roger's bribery scandal was exposed, I quickly cleared out a batch of senior executives and promoted young, talented alphas and betas.
The meeting finally ended as night fell.
I removed my glasses and pressed my temples with my fingers, relieving the tense nerves.
Theo pulled out his phone again and dialed Sophia's number.
"Why is it still switched off?" he said through gritted teeth.
"Shit!"
I let out a low growl, finally unable to suppress my emotions, and stood up abruptly.
My gaze met Theo's in mid-air.
We both saw the same determination in each other's eyes.
"Let's go. To the Blood Moon Pack. Now," I said.
Theo was about to nod when his phone suddenly vibrated.
He glanced at the screen and answered.
"Logan? What is it?"
Logan's heavy breathing came through the phone.
"Just now, Laura, representing the Blood Moon Pack, officially announced an alliance marriage with the Frost Wolf Pack."
"What?!"
Theo practically roared, the hand gripping his phone showing bulging veins.
I frowned. "Explain clearly. What exactly is going on?!"
"Will has woken up," Logan continued, his tone full of anger.
"Because we were a step too late, we let that bastard Kieran get there first! The news says Kieran will marry the Blood Moon Pack's little princess!"
Theo let out an angry roar and punched the desk.
"Fuck! How could this happen?!"
He paced back and forth in the office like an enraged beast.
"No wonder Sophia isn't answering her phone. Turns out she's getting cozy with Kieran!"
Logan's emotions were also terrible.
The fury of two alphas nearly set the entire room ablaze.
But I suddenly calmed down in this moment.
I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and let rationality reclaim my mind.
"Both of you, calm down."
Theo looked at me, his chest heaving violently.
"What are you trying to say?"
I pushed up my glasses and began to analyze.
"Don't you think this routine is very familiar? Will clearly knows about our relationship with Sophia. As a pack leader, he couldn't easily offend us. Moreover, I trust Sophia. She couldn't possibly agree to marry Kieran behind our backs."
"So, this is very likely a trap someone designed for us. We've been deceived."
Theo froze for a moment, his anger slightly subsiding.
"What do you mean? Did Laura deliberately say this?"
I picked up my phone and quickly dialed a number.
Fortunately, after leaving the Blood Moon Pack, out of caution, I had planted a spy in Will's villa.
The call was quickly answered.
"Owen, what's the situation at the Blood Moon Pack?" I asked.
"Thank God you finally contacted me! Fabian!"
To prevent Owen from being easily exposed, we had made an agreement that only I could contact him directly.
His voice sounded very anxious. "The situation is terrible!"
I pressed the speakerphone button so Theo and Logan could hear.
"This afternoon, Sophia and Kieran did come to the villa. At first, everything seemed normal, but shortly after Frank led Kieran into Will's room, I heard a gunshot."
"What?!" The three of us exclaimed almost simultaneously.
My heart skipped a beat.
"Was Sophia shot?!"
"I'm not sure. After the gunshot, I took advantage of the chaos to sneak into Will's room, only to discover that Will was still unconscious in bed. He never woke up at all."
My pupils constricted sharply.
Owen's voice carried anger.
"So Laura lied. Will never woke up! That marriage alliance news is also fake! There are too many guards here now. I can only find a place to hide temporarily and figure something out after things die down!"
A burst of noise came through the phone, then it was hastily disconnected.
"Shit! That bitch Laura! She's been deceiving us all this time!"
Theo's eyes were bloodshot, his fangs nearly showing.
"I can't wait anymore! I'm going to take the guards and storm over there right now! Rescue Sophia!"
"No!" I growled, grabbing Theo who was about to rush out.
"Sophia is still in Laura's hands! If you charge over there now, you'll only put her in more danger!"
Logan on the other end of the phone also calmed down.
"Fabian's right. We need to come up with a thorough plan."
