Chapter 167: "Today Is Your Death Day!"

Chapter 167: "Today Is Your Death Day!"
Sophia's POV
I held the unconscious Marcus, sobbing until my voice was hoarse.
"I'm sorry, Marcus, this is all my fault... I shouldn't have trusted Laura, I should have looked for you sooner..."
There was barely an inch of unharmed flesh on Marcus's body.
Laura had subjected him to whipping, and the blood on his wounds had already coagulated, with his skin stuck to his clothes.
I leaned down, pressing close to his chest, and could still feel a faint heartbeat.
This signal told me he was only unconscious, not completely dead.
But now, I had no first aid kit by my side.
Apart from praying and crying, there was nothing I could do to save Marcus.
I had never felt as desperate as I did at this moment.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
Two gunshots rang out abruptly, the sound reverberating through my head.
Three seconds later, I fully realized what had happened in the villa.
In this villa, only Laura had a gun.
"Oh no!! Kieran!!"
I let out a desperate roar, the heart-wrenching pain nearly causing my wolf to go berserk.
All my strength was drained in that instant, but I gritted my teeth and used my last bit of energy to crawl to the iron door, pounding on it with my fists again and again.
"Let me out... Laura, I'm begging you..."
"Laura, I can die, please don't hurt him, I'm begging you..."
My fists struck the cold iron door, making dull thumping sounds.
My knuckles quickly became raw and bloody, the blood running down the back of my hand, but I felt no pain.
I cried until I nearly passed out, curling up on the floor, my eyes completely losing focus.
Time seemed to stop flowing.
I didn't know how long I had been in the darkness when I vaguely heard someone calling me.
"Sophia... Sophia..."
It was Marcus's dry, hoarse voice.
My heart seemed to start beating again. I opened my eyes abruptly.
Marcus slowly opened his eyes, his lips moving.
I propped myself up with my elbows and crawled to Marcus's side, holding him in my arms.
"Thank goodness, you're finally awake..."
"Sophia, why are you here?"
He began to cough violently, coughing up blood.
"Laura locked me in here," I said.
A hoarse sound escaped Marcus's throat.
"This is all my fault. I've harmed you. I should have told you the truth long ago."
His eyes were filled with regret.
"Marcus, why did you take me away from the Blood Moon Wolf Pack? What is the truth?"
I gripped his hand, desperately wanting to know the answer.
He slowly sat up, leaning against the cold wall, gasping for breath.
After a long while, he finally spoke in a weak voice.
"It was your mother, Mrs. Parker, who told me to take you away."
I frowned, my heart pounding wildly. "What?"
"Many years ago, Mr. Will arranged for me to protect her by her side. Ever since you were born, Laura didn't like you. She thought you had stolen your parents' love from her. Once, Laura poisoned your food and water, but Mrs. Parker accidentally consumed it instead."
"Oh my God..." I covered my mouth.
So it was Laura who had killed my mother.
Marcus swallowed with difficulty.
"After Mrs. Parker gave birth to you, her wolf spirit remained in a weakened state, so the wolf poison took her life. You didn't ingest much of the poison, but from that point on, your wolf remained in a dormant state, which is why I deceived you and told you that you were an Omega."
"Most importantly, Mrs. Parker knew it was Laura who poisoned her, but she didn't want to lose either of you children. So, she gave me a large sum of money and told me to take you away from the Blood Moon Wolf Pack and never return."
Perhaps my mother had done the right thing.
She didn't want to see us kill each other.
I shouldn't have returned to the pack.
If I hadn't, the people around me wouldn't have been hurt because of me.
Marcus saw my guilt.
"Sophia, don't blame yourself. I'm the one who failed to protect you. I should have told you the truth earlier, so you could have been prepared..."
"Cough cough cough!!"
He coughed violently, spitting blood all over the floor.
I looked at him nervously, my heart in my throat.
"Marcus, are you okay?"
His breathing became even weaker.
"Laura gave me slow-acting poison. I probably don't have much time left..."
"No! It won't happen!" I shook my head forcefully.
"I'll find a way to save you! Just hold on a little longer! Fabian and the others will definitely come looking for me!"
My phone had been confiscated by Laura.
I believed that as long as they couldn't reach me for more than a day, the three alphas would notice something was wrong.
They would find a way to rescue me.
Over the following days, Marcus and I depended on each other in this dark room.
During this time, servants came to deliver food, but Laura was never seen.
Marcus's condition deteriorated.
I stayed by his side, using what little water we had to clean his wounds.
Until one day, the iron door was opened.
Laura walked into the room.
She frowned, looking at me with disgust.
"Look at yourself. Where is there anything princess-like about you?!"
She raised her hand, covering her nose and mouth with a handkerchief, hating the sour smell emanating from us.
I ignored her mockery and asked urgently, "How is Kieran? Is he okay?!"
Laura crouched down and grabbed my chin with her hand.
"You should worry about yourself first."
Laura curved her lips into a cold smile.
"I came today to tell you some good news. I deliberately spread the news that you and Kieran were about to get married. Because of you, Silver Moon and Frost have become enemies again. I believe it won't be long before the Blood Moon Wolf Pack becomes the first pack."
"No, impossible..." I murmured.
The Ellis brothers were so smart. They definitely wouldn't be deceived by Laura.
Laura released my chin and stood up.
"You're no longer of any use, Sophia. Today is your death day!"
I shrank back abruptly, my back pressing against the cold wall.
Marcus heard Laura's words and struggled to come protect me, but was kicked away viciously by Laura.
His weak body fell heavily to the ground with a muffled groan.
"Marcus!" I screamed.
Laura held a cup of water that gave off a strange smell and walked toward me.
She grabbed my hair and dragged me in front of her, then pinched my jaw with her other hand, trying to force the water into my mouth.
I clenched my mouth shut tightly, twisting my body desperately trying to break free.
The liquid splashed on my face and neck.
Laura cursed: "Open your mouth, bitch!"
Her fingers pressed hard on my jaw, trying to pry my mouth open.
Just then, a servant's voice suddenly came from outside the door.
"Miss Laura, there are reporters outside who want to interview you and Miss Sophia."
