CHAPTER 20 — LOOSE VAMPIRE
Karl was on the floor, bloodless, his fangs out. Sucking out his blood, she knew wouldn’t kill him, but he would be immobile for some time. She stood back, her hair, dress and lips stained with blood, her eyes dark red. There was no sign of humanity on her wildly sexy face as she smirked and smacked her lips. She took the oak from the fallen man and drove it through Karl's chest. She watched with a pout as the fire spread from that point and engulfed him, leaving only the oak stick. There were now three bodies around her, all bloodless. She had leapt on them one by one and sucked their blood out like the animal she felt like. They had been too weak. Way too weak to save themselves. She chuckled as she drove the oak through the second man's chest and watched him burn.
Dale ran as fast as he could, searching the woods for a weapon, something he would use to rescue his dear Elsa. The men keeping him hostage had all gone into the inner room, leaving him unattended to. He turned back and thought he saw a flash of fire, and then blonde blood-stained hair. He turned, and started to make his way back, slowly, so they don’t get him again. He heard the sounds of footsteps and went around the shrubs, camouflaging into them. He watched as the door flew off its hinges, flying through the air and landing somewhere close to him. Elsa stepped out, cracking her neck. She was Elsa. He could see it. But she wasn't. Her eyes were blood red, everything on her was stained with blood. She licked her lips and stretched, a smile on her face. "I am hungry." She said and sped through the forest in the opposite way.
His heart was beating fast, as he soon lost sight of her due to her insane speed. Even when she had fed on him, she hadn't been this uncontrollable. He tiptoed into the house, knowing he wouldn't come any harm. He saw nothing. Just a stick on the floor, and a chair that had been flying around the room. Where was Karl and the three other men? What had they done to Elsa? Something in his mind told him the question was wrong. What had Elsa done to them? He ran out of the house and started to run in the direction she had gone, risking his life to save the woman he loved. His only faith was Karl's words.
In case she lost control, the person she had the most emotional connection with was the person who could bring her back. And that had been Karl’s mistake with her parents, killing the mother before the father. He couldn't go at her insane speed, and couldn't run for too long, either. He stopped to take a breath, then looked around, realizing they weren't in the PCT anymore. He didn't even know where he was as he stood in the middle of thick forests, alone, scared, and tired. He caught his breath.
He was going to look for her, no matter what. Even if he found a way out of here, he wouldn't leave without her. He was the only one who could save her, and he would. He continued running with all his might, forgetting the fatigue he felt and continued to propel himself forward. The sun was setting in the distance, and he knew it would soon get dark. What was the best way to get a vampire woman back to him? She had looked like she didn't care who she sucked off, as long as she was satisfied. The only idea he got could get him killed, but did he care at this point? Not exactly. He looked around him, looking for a sharp object, something that would pierce his skin. He walked forward, checking the grounds, till he found a little stick with a sharp edge. He tested it on his hand and if he gave it a lot of force, it would pierce him and draw blood. He put it in his pocket and continued to run, faster than he had when he wanted to save his restaurant. Elsa had become more and more important to him than anything else.
One hand secured his pocket, so the stick wouldn't jiggle out, but then something in the grass caught his attention. It looked like sharp glass, and he picked it up. He could get infected, but it was a better option. Close to it was a strand of blonde hair. Elsa's hair. She had been here, he wasn't wrong. He took the strand and continued on the path, her hair serving as inspiration.
Elsa sat on the floor with a deer close to her. It hadn’t tasted good at all, so she spit it out and let him. She wanted one of those she had earlier. They were nice and well groomed. She stood and started back, tracing her way to the house if she could find one more prey.
The path was dark now, and he kept tripping, he always did manage to find his way back up, but he got exhausted. The only thing keeping him going was his love for her, the woman he needed to save.
He went down on his knees on the floor, bending his head. At this point, he couldn't go further and going back wasn't an option either. He hated the helplessness that came with being a human mated to a woman of so many superhuman abilities, so many. A crunch nearby stopped his train of thoughts. He stopped and looked up, his heart beating fast. Whatever was running around at this time couldn't be good, he knew that much. He swallowed and stood up, taking the sharp object. If it was Elsa, he would at least see her even if she was going to take his blood. He slit his hand, the sharp piercing pain bursting in his hand, the blood starting to ooze out. In a second, a flash, a whiff of wind, and a figure was in front of him.
"Elsa? It's me, Dale,” was the last thing he could say before the sinking feeling of her fangs in his neck.
