Chapter 169: TigerRankings Expert, Proposing Marriage
Claire felt like a kid who'd just gotten caught doing something wrong.
The more time she spent with Jeremy, the more she felt like he was hiding something big.
Jeremy, the son-in-law of the Thomas family in Dreamville, Jeremy, the son-in-law of the Bailey family in Sunrise, GhostHealer—who was the real Jeremy?
She wanted to help, but she worried that Jeremy might not appreciate her efforts. She didn't want to end up as an ugly monster again; that was too terrifying.
Seeing her so nervous, Jeremy motioned for her to come over and then gave her a playful slap on the butt.
"Next time, let me know before you do anything!"
"Consider this your punishment for not telling me this time!"
Claire giggled, "Got it!"
Jeremy said, "Since you want to be the queen of Sunrise's underworld, I'll give you that chance. I'll have a few people follow you. But I want more than just Sunrise."
For the first time, Jeremy revealed his ambition to Claire. It wasn't just Sunrise, a small city's underworld, that he wanted. Even if he were given the entire southwestern region, ThunderLord's territory, he wouldn't be satisfied.
Claire realized for the first time that Jeremy had a terrifyingly large ambition.
Jeremy continued, "But I need to tell you, you must have a bottom line. You need to help me with a few things first."
Jeremy told Claire about the collaboration between the underworld and foreign crime syndicates, asking her to keep an eye on these people. He wanted to uncover the masterminds behind them one by one.
That day, the biggest changes happened not only to the Watson family but also to the Taylor family!
Peter woke up and exposed Rena's true nature in front of all of Sunrise. Rena had gone mad and was taken back by the Brooks family.
Gage was dead!
His body was naturally handled by the Brooks family. The world no longer had Gage and Hugh, the two brothers. Their deaths were both inevitable and coincidental.
If Jeremy hadn't appeared, Gage and Hugh might have lived a few more years.
At the Taylor family, Peter regained control and completely expelled all Taylor family members from the company. The recent events had made him thoroughly disappointed in them.
For a bit of profit, they had disregarded his life, collaborating with Rena and Gage to take over his Horizon Group.
The next day, Horizon Group announced that Peter would transfer all his shares to his only son, Jeremy.
This meant that Horizon Group became entirely Jeremy's private property, unlike the Bailey Group, where he only had management rights and access to funds and resources.
The happiest person was naturally Elijah, the project manager of Hillside Town.
He finally understood why Jeremy had asked him to wait a few days. The properties Horizon Group had acquired now all belonged to Jeremy.
With the changes in the underworld, no one was causing trouble, and the Hillside Town project progressed smoothly.
Sunrise's largest project finally began in earnest, with all the preliminary promotional activities officially launched.
But was everything really fine?
The answer was definitely no!
On the surface, no one dared to trouble Jeremy at this time. GhostHealer's appearance had intimidated all the major forces in Starcrest.
But behind the scenes, it was a whole different story. GhostHealer had been around for over a hundred years.
In those hundred years, he hadn't just made friends; he had enemies too. Some said he had hidden in the mountains for decades, fearing his enemies' revenge.
Now that GhostHealer had disappeared again but had revealed his student Jeremy in Sunrise, his enemies would naturally come after Jeremy if they couldn't find GhostHealer.
These were matters for later!
Sunrise was brewing a bigger storm under this strange atmosphere.
Through Claire's investigation, a lot of evidence was quickly gathered.
And all this evidence pointed to Sunrise's only noble family, the Brooks family!
The Brooks family, a century-old family, had secretly collaborated with foreign crime syndicates for tens of billions of dollars in annual revenue.
When all this evidence was laid out before Jeremy, his first thought was to wipe out the entire Brooks family.
But he held back. He couldn't act impulsively. The Brooks family had Marvin, a Half-step Innate Realm Martial Artist.
There were other strong fighters too. Kirk from the Brooks family, whom he had met before, was a Mid Grandmaster Martial Artist.
The Brooks family might have more hidden strong fighters. If he went to the Brooks Mansion alone, he might be the one getting wiped out instead.
He was still a bit too weak!
Marvin, a Half-step Innate Realm, didn't even have a ranking on the TigerRankings.
Avalonia's TigerRankings had twelve powerful Martial Artists below the Innate Realm, most of whom were Half-step Innate Realm. Two of them were only Supreme Grandmasters.
Those who made it to the TigerRankings had killed Half-step Innate Realm fighters with their Grandmaster-level skills.
Last time in Dreamville, so many strong fighters surrounded Jeremy, but none were from the TigerRankings or Half-step Innate Realm Martial Artists.
But now in Sunrise, a ranked TigerRankings fighter had arrived!
Travis personally brought the news to Jeremy.
And this fighter wasn't here for sightseeing. He was one of the two non-Half-step Innate Realm Martial Artists on the TigerRankings, Gabe Palmer!
Gabe wasn't an old man; he was in his fifties, in his prime, with a muscular build that exuded strength. His eyes were full of power.
Gabe had come to Sunrise to propose marriage for his son!
And the bride-to-be was Isabella from the Watson family!
In the past, Gabe would never have let his son marry a dying woman.
But recently, everyone knew that Isabella's illness had been cured!
Isabella and Gabe's son were college classmates!
Gabe had only one son, and he naturally supported his son's choice, coming personally to propose marriage to show his stance.
Faced with a strong fighter like Gabe, what could the Watson family do?
Owen politely said, "Mr. Palmer, I never interfere in my children's affairs. If they are willing, I won't stand in their way."
He knew his daughter definitely didn't like Gabe's son.
Gabe's eyes turned cold, "Mr. Watson, I heard you just held a son-in-law selection event a few days ago!"
"So, do you think my son isn't good enough for your daughter?"
