Chapter 175 Break In Through the Window

Chapter 175 Break In Through the Window

Amelia was truly not to be underestimated.

All along, Vincent had felt he'd been looking down on this woman.

"I admit it."

Vincent felt completely transparent before Amelia—better to just come clean.

Nothing mattered more right now than seeking her protection.

Albert had abandoned him. He had to latch onto Amelia now.

Seeing his honesty, Amelia smiled slightly. "If you want to stand on my side, it's not impossible—as long as you can produce evidence or leverage against Albert. Something I don't already know about."

This stumped Vincent.

"Ms. Wilson, I'd love to give you evidence you don't know about, but I honestly don't have any right now." He looked deeply conflicted.

"If you don't have any, can't you create some? Surely Albert didn't only have you do these few things?" Amelia smiled faintly, her words carrying hidden implications.

Vincent immediately understood.

But still...

Seeing Vincent's hesitation, Amelia said with a half-smile, "If it's too difficult to talk about, I won't force you."

With that, Amelia turned to leave.

Vincent immediately rushed forward to stop her. If he kept those secrets hidden now, he'd completely lose his last shred of usefulness.

"He did have me do several unspeakable things. If these were exposed, I'd face prison time myself."

"He used my name to invest in a shell company specifically for money laundering."

"He said he'd transfer 30% of the profits to me, but I still haven't received anything."

In other words, Vincent had done all the work for nothing.

Amelia shook her head, thinking Vincent's brain didn't seem to work very well.

How could someone with Albert's petty character possibly keep his word?

"You never asked him for it?" Amelia inquired.

Vincent sighed. "How could I not ask? Every time I brought it up, he'd tell me the overseas bank hadn't transferred the project funds yet, so there was nothing he could do."

So it kept getting delayed.

Amelia understood now. She looked at Vincent with a serious expression. "So if he transfers that payment to you, your criminal culpability becomes ironclad. But if he never transfers it, you're just an accomplice. Even if this gets exposed, as long as you truthfully confess the facts, you'd likely receive lenient treatment."

Vincent panicked. Honestly, the only reason he'd agreed to help Albert handle this matter was for that 30% profit.

Telling Amelia didn't mean he wanted to send himself to prison.

"Ms. Wilson, I don't want to go to jail." Vincent's face was full of pleading.

Amelia narrowed her eyes. "When you were helping Albert commit crimes, why didn't you think of this? Even if you don't want prison, once this comes to light, you're the primary culprit. He could easily pin everything on you."

Vincent fell silent.

"If you report this voluntarily, it's called induced criminality. But if someone else reports you, you're in real trouble. Not only will you face prison, but much worse consequences." Amelia rested her chin on her hand, speaking matter-of-factly.

Vincent sank into silence. He knew that once this was exposed, he'd definitely be implicated.

"Mr. Woods, I'll do what I can to help you, but you did commit this act—there will be consequences."

Amelia finished speaking and slowly walked toward the door.

Before leaving, she slowly turned back to look at Vincent.

"People always have to pay the price for what they've done."

She said nothing more and left the conference room directly.

Vincent wilted like a frost-bitten eggplant.

Amelia returned to her office. Soon her phone rang.

"Amelia, he's here!"

Hearing those words, Amelia's whole body tensed.

Victoria saying this meant that man had arrived!

She'd told absolutely no one about keeping Victoria at her house. If he'd come, how did he know?

Amelia didn't hesitate. She quickly gathered her things and rushed home.

Meanwhile, elsewhere.

Early that morning, Victoria had been taking a walk in the upscale villa's garden. After all, she was in her third trimester now. Though she didn't truly love this child, she could only accept her fate.

After her assistant got up, she went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

At that moment, the villa's doorbell rang.

The assistant was busy in the kitchen, so Victoria simply walked over to answer the door herself.

She never expected the person at the door to be Albert!

That demon who'd harassed her into getting pregnant!

Victoria's first reaction was to slam the door shut. Albert tried to force his way in with his men, but couldn't get through. He kept pounding on the door and shouting threats.

"I'm telling you, you're carrying my child right now. You'd better come with me obediently, or don't blame me for what happens!"

"After you give birth, I'll make you the biggest star."

"Open this door! If you don't listen to me, I have a hundred ways to kill you!"

The voice outside carried vicious threats that made Victoria's heart pound with terror.

Her first instinct was to immediately call Amelia.

The noise outside sounded like a death knell.

Both Victoria and her assistant inside turned pale with fear.

Soon, the knocking outside stopped.

The assistant spoke tremulingly, "Could it be... seeing we won't open the door, he's already left?"

Victoria quickly shook her head.

From what she knew of Albert, he was someone who never gave up until he achieved his goal.

Just as the two of them approached the door, planning to look through the peephole at what was outside, the sound of shattering glass came from the other side of the villa.

Glass shattered.

Both women were terrified.

In that instant, they understood.

Albert had already broken through the window with his men and was rushing into the living room.

Albert's eyes were bloodshot as he roared, "Take this woman away!"
