Chapter 121 CHAPTER 121

Chapter 121 CHAPTER 121
Worried things might get out of hand and she'll be found out again, Doveris tightened her fist in rage and flared out for everyone to see.
"You were present? Fine, if you were present, how come you didn't see me casting my spell to cease the hurricane?!" She raised her voice, sounding super serious.
The Alphas, Lily, and Elvador were ready to speak and shut Doveris up, but the sorceress quickly turned to face everyone, saying out loudly, "How will they see me when their entire focus was on a human who is supposed to be smart enough to know that jumping into an active hurricane is a death sentence!"
"Elvador and Lily had their eyes wide open, keeping a look out for demon bats while protecting the Luna," Dean spoke with an icy tone. Like he could pounce on the sorceress and rip her into pieces, anytime soon.
"Even though we weren't there yet, Elvador, our head guard, sharp with his skill, was there with Lily. He took the lower ground, and Lily was above. They told us you weren't there. Neither you nor Adira was present. So where exactly were you standing and casting your spell, Doveris?" Hugo questioned, as all three glared at the sorceress.
With the confidence in their words, Doveris felt her own boldness was fading away from her.
She knew talking on about the hurricane will only bring her reputation down, so she changed her approach and said, acting hurt, "For years, I have served this land and its people. Yet I am being questioned like some criminal by the ones who are supposed to be on my side."
Her words made the Alphas roll their eyes. Even Avara frowned her face at her drama, recognizing the victim card being played again, but in a different way.
"Do you know how I struggled to save this pack?!" She spoke out loudly, looking over at the people then at the elders who trust her so much.
"You all are focused on the fact that Luna Avara was found unconscious outside the pack, without knowing that the demon bats had a new Shaman and I went after them once the hurricane dispersed!"
"Another Shaman?!"
"Goddess! They have another one?!"
Everyone mumbled in shock, looking worried about this.
Doveris didn't stop but kept on talking, so her enemies won't have the chance to spot her lies.
"I went after this Shaman but he managed to escape before I could take him down. I went through this battle for my people, yet I am met with an accusation I know nothing of. Me? Harm that human? I feel so offended," She sighed weakly, placing one hand on her chest, like she's falling apart.
With the news of the new Shaman, Doveris succeeded in getting more people on her side, as they panicked and wondered if the demon bats will come back again.
Just as she was preparing to deliver her final hit and save herself... "That's strange. As far as I remember, you left the pack three to two hours ago before the attack even started," A voice spoke behind Doveris, causing the sorceress's heart to skip in fear, before turning around to find out who was talking.
"Messages were sent to you when the demon bats attacked. You answered one, saying you were handling an important matter at MoonDale pack. So, if you said you where at a different pack when things were getting serious, how were you fighting the Shaman or stopping the hurricane at that exact time we were calling you?" Valerie, who showed up to attend this trial, stepped forward, standing next to Doveris, few steps away from each other.
Her question left Doveris struck in the chest, engulfing her whole body with heat of panic!
This twist from Valerie stunned everyone too. And in Doveris's absence, Valerie and some other magic holders have shown signs of greatness and gained the people's trust, through their skills.
She is one of Doveris's loyal students, who carried on some high roles in the sorceress's absence.
So hearing her say this... Surely everyone will start asking if Doveris was lying all along.
"Valerie... You are asking me these questions?" Doveris gave her a wide eyes filled with anger, clearly trying to spike fear in the heart of the young sorceress.
But Valerie showed no fear. She turned to face the people and said with courage, "At the base, Doveris was leaving the pack in a hurry like she was late for an important meeting. I was also on my way out, but still went ahead to ask her where she was rushing off to. I wasn't the only one present when you said you had somewhere urgent to visit."
Valerie glared at Doveris, stunning the old sorceress with her confidence and determination to expose her lies.
"You left quickly. You didn't look back. I also stepped out to gather something when I noticed a change in the sky in the direction of Crescent Moon. When a message came to me, asking for my return as soon as possible, I didn't disobey. I came back to help," Valerie added, letting everyone know how swiftly she rushed back to help the pack.
Then she looked over at Doveris and told everyone how many messages were sent to her, and how she ignored all, including the Alphas' call, responding to one message, in which she talked about MoonDale and said she didn't want to be disturbed.
"If you were at MoonDale and you were also seen by Adira standing before our Luna before she passed out... Doesn't that prove you were indeed trying to harm Luna Avara?" Valerie accused, causing Doveris's blood to rise in anger.
The point made was impossible for anyone to call it a lie.
Doveris is the one who claimed she was there fighting off the demon bats and the new Shaman, yet at that hour, she already sent a message claiming she was somewhere else.
"Did Doveris just lie to us?"
"Was she trying to harm our Luna?"
"We all know the distance between MoonDale and Crescent. If she was there, then how did she get here fast? Does she have some new magic skill that teleports her to anywhere quickly?"
The questions and whispers grew louder, with all eyes which held pity for the sorceress before, now staring at her suspiciously.
The questioning look... Their whispers and gossiping tone... "No, I can't let this happen. I won't allow it!" Doveris panicked in her mind. Her heart pounding so fast like it's going to burst out from her chest.
With this tension engulfing her, Doveris lifted her eyes at Avara, fearing her end was about to happen because of her return.
"You should have died that night, Aurora. Why did you survive?!" She screamed in her head, about to lose it.
That's when Pesus yelled out, still taking Doveris's side, "She's the great sorceress! She has more magical skills than you, Valerie!"
"Doveris has been away for years, training, building herself, and helping others. I'm sure she found a quicker way to the pack to stop those bloody bats from bringing us down!" He added, getting other elders to join him.
To make sure no one else accuse the sorceress wrongly again, Pesus spoke out, pointing in Avara's direction, "Have you all forgotten what Doveris said? This human came into our world with the negative pull to attract evil to our land! What happened was a sign! A sign to get rid of her before she dooms us all!"
"It seems you don't like your freedom, Pesus. One more nonsense about my Luna and we'll make you regret it!" Jay threatened the old man, making him shut up.
But he already threw the words out. Now everyone is back to thinking and pondering on who's right and who's wrong.
Seeing how wonderfully well Pesus executed this, Doveris said to everyone, acting heart broken, "I have served this land because of the love I have for my Aurora. But if my loyalty is being questioned, I'd rather stand back and keep my distance."
She looked at Avara again, only for her to see the Alphas shielding her, glaring back at her.
They saw her looking at Avara, and immediately stood in front of their mate, just in case she plans to strike her.
They rather take the hit than allow Avara to suffer another blow again.
Avara saw this and couldn't help but feel so lucky.
She stood behind her Alphas, staring at a cold Doveris from the little gap between Hugo and Jay, listening to the sorceress act like the victim.
"From now on, I won't involve myself in whatever happens to Crescent Moon. You three will be the one to summon me when you finally see the truth about your precious mate. She will doom us all. You better act fast before it's too late," She said like she's delivering an end time message.
Then with her shoulder's held high, Doveris stormed away.
The Alphas didn't bother to send guards after her. She already made herself look like the one who's being wronged, and even if she's being dragged back, she'll only try to deny it.
Or worse, she might want to strike Avara when they least expect it.
Also, they didn't have time for her nonsense. To them, this is a distraction, keeping them from the main goal.
With Doveris gone, the Alphas took Avara back into the palace, so she can have her rest.
"We will never let anyone hurt you, Avara. We'll see to it that Doveris never ever raises her head in this pack or any other werewolf pack again," Hugo promised, lifting Avara off the floor and into his arms.
He made her sit on his arm like it's a chair.
This made her happy, as she wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder.
"I don't know what I'd have done without you three. Thank you," She appreciated from the depths of her heart, feeling her love for her Alphas skyrocketing.
The Alphas felt glad on seeing her calm. They were worried that she'd be dull after what Doveris and Pesus said.
But their Luna showed she was okay, thanks to them being by her side.
"Valerie really helped us," Avara pointed out, as they climbed the stairs, heading up.
The Alphas agreed, feeling pleased with her entrance.
Even the point she made, got the Alphas on their toes.
"Doveris left the pack hours before the attack. She even sent a reply that she's not in Crescent Moon," Jay spoke, repeating Valerie's words.
The trio spoke about it —from Doveris's absence, to Adira spotting her with Avara, to Doveris claiming to be fighting off demon bats and a new shaman— and they immediately concluded that Avara's life was indeed in danger.
This frightens Avara as she wished she remembered what happened to her.
"If I can just have a glimpse of that incident, I'd be able to expose Doveris too," She said sadly, getting petted on the head by Hugo.
"You will remember soon, Avara," Hugo said, stroking her hair.
"Don't stress yourself over this. Besides, Valerie is on our side. She's working tirelessly to find the cure," Dean added, heading forward to open the door they were approaching.
Jay placed his hand on her back and said, "Maybe Valerie found something new, that's why she's here."
The others agreed, taking Avara into the room.
They placed her in bed, about to leave and send Lily over, so they can meet Valerie and see if she found anything new. But Avara stopped all three, innocently asking them to stay with her.
"Please," She spoke sweetly, melting their hearts.
They didn't refuse her request and happily got into bed, cuddling with Avara, making her feel better.
"Thank you," She appreciated with a smile, closing her eyes to rest.
.
Meanwhile, Doveris who dramatically left the palace, stood inside Adira's room, thinking and panicking.
"This isn't how I imagined it. Everything was supposed to go our way!" Adira snapped, pacing about.
"That Avara! She didn't even say a word to defend herself but she still won this fight! ARGH!" She kicked the chair close to her dressing table, sending it to the wall.
The disruption pulled Adira's mom over, as the worried mother tried to calm her daughter's temper.
But as always, "GET OUT!!" Adira roared, sending the poor woman away with sadness.
Once she was gone, Adira turned to face Doveris and finally asked the question that's been on her mind, "What were you doing with that girl? And why did you run away? You looked scared of that human. It's nothing like you."
She stood before Doveris, noticing how troubled the sorceress was.
"Doveris?" Adira called, placing her hand on her shoulder.
That's when Doveris shivered, pulling herself out from her thoughts.
She lifted her trembling eyes at a confused Adira and said to her, "Listen to me, Adira. Until I've found a way to get rid of Avara, you must keep your distance from her."
"What?" Adira's brow arched.
What's going on with Doveris?
Doveris instructed her to stay away from Avara, no matter how much she feels like strangling her.
"It's for your own good," She added, making Adira's inside turn cold.
"Stay away from that pesky human? Why? Are you now afraid of her because she has a lot of people by her side? Tell me you're joking, Doveris," Adira scoffed, refusing to believe this.
Seeing Adira's stubbornness and pride wouldn't let her obey this simple command... "Do you know why that human is the only one who could see your necklace glowing? Do you know why the Alphas would rather choose her instead of you? Do you know why everything she does feels so similar to Aurora and why she's able to succeed no matter what you do?!"
Adira's legs trembled at the way Doveris got to her feet, asking her all those questions.
Then, with fear in her eyes, Doveris said, "Avara is not human. Avara... She's Aurora."
"What?" Adira's eyes popped.
She thought this was a joke and was about to laugh. But when she remembered how Avara stood before Doveris yesterday, and made someone as powerful as the sorceress run away in fear... "You're... You're lying. Tell me you saw wrong."
Her heart was pounding. She wanted Doveris's words to be a joke.
But Doveris will never play about this. Not just that, the look of terror in her eyes says a lot.
"Avara is... She's Aurora?" She gasped as she staggered close to her dressing table, making her makeup fall to the floor.
She turned to face the mirror, touching her face, as she realized the face she has been using for long, rightfully belongs to the one she hates so much.
The rightful Queen herself.
"Oh Goddess! Aurora is alive?! How?!" Adira trembled, reaching for the stone around her neck.
Doveris told Adira what happened to her inside the hurricane, and how she almost got killed by Aurora.
Adira was too shaken and remembered how Avara aimed for her necklace so many times. Now that she knows she's Aurora, it terrified her.
"This can't be happening. Aurora is... Wait," Adira turned to face Doveris in confusion, noticing something about her words.
"Why was Aurora trying to kill you?" She asked.
But Doveris didn't give her any reply. She just advised Adira to stay away from her if she doesn't want to get exposed.
"Don't say I didn't warn you," The sorceress said, leaving the room.
A petrified Adira fell on her knees, as she thought about the throne and plans to become queen.
With Aurora back... "I didn't sign up for this. Avara is really Aurora? This is bad."
She held her necklace, breathing heavily.
