A MISSION WITHOUT A PLAN

CHAPTER FORTY-EIGHT

DENISE'S POV

"You can't make such a decision without talking to us first?" I declared with anger in my voice.

Why would he want us to go with him into the woods, what about my mother? What about school? I hate school all my life but I can't just ditch it. Besides, it is the only place that I can be, without any drama coming up immediately.

The day was getting dark, and I just wanted to tell you what Blanc did. Lucas looked and both of us and hissed.

"A lot of people are after the Gem, people you won't believe, we need to find Morgana, the strongest witch to get the Gem destroyed," Lucas said as he walked around the room like he was in a panic.

I didn't understand what he meant totally, but going to the woods to find Morgana or whatever wasn't part of my plan. I exhaled and thought maybe I heard wrongly but his Expression on his face showed that he wasn't joking or making mistakes in his words.

"First of all, we need to deal with the betrayal in our midst," I said, trying to bring up the matter of Blanc's betrayal. I looked at him and surprise was written all over his face.

Fuck, why does he look surprised? I could not believe I almost kissed this betrayal, I was literally begging for his kiss. I'm grateful Lucas came just in time.

"Blanc is not a betrayal, I knew you saw the witch again. Blanc was as surprised as you were. I can't settle what is happening between you two, okay, get together and settle your differences before we head to the woods' ' he said and went inside.

I looked at Blanc in surprise, first of all, how did he know what happened? Was he involved or was it one of their plans that they don't like telling me? I looked at him one more time and decided to leave.

"But when you were begging for my lips I didn't look like a betrayal to you huh?" He asked.

I froze at that point, was he joking? He looked at his face and he was damn serious. Guess he didn't like the fact I assumed he was a betrayal.

"I..I... I was begging for your lips and besides you weren't surprised when you saw the witch. What did you expect me to think?" I asked as I folded my arms underneath my breast.

He scoffed a little bit, with hurt written all over his face, I guess I have pressed the wrong button this time. "I saw her a few minutes before she entered the police station. I tried to stop her but her powers were ten times stronger than mine. I knew you were going to find out so I stayed calm so she doesn't do anything silly to you" he said, without smiling or even playing around with one of his silly jokes. I felt sad that he didn't want to speak to me.

"So I guess you see, I'm not a betrayal and if you see me as one it means you don't love me, have a good time with Lionel" he said and felt me standing there.

I was speechless, like fuck, it is this guy I want to spend time with, but going into a relationship is not the best right now. I think it best we keep our distance. Maybe this little misunderstanding was for the best although I regret calling him a betrayal.

It was then the realization struck me that Lucas told us to get prepared and that we were going to the woods to search for some Morgana or whatever. Does he even have a plan? Even if there is a plan, I'm not going and I'm definitely not taking the Gem with me.

I walked hurriedly to Lucas' room and I pushed it open. Lucas was talking and I turned only to see Blanc there. He didn't even acknowledge my presence which felt very awful. He always says funny things anytime I interrupt their discussion.

I exhaled and removed Blanc from my mind. "I don't want to go to the woods with you Lucas, I have school to go to, my mother, and finding or searching for some kind of witch is not in my power. I getting to hate witches already" I said, in a matter-of-fact tone.

BLANC'S POV

"You don't have to go," I said without looking at her. I could not believe she thought I was taking place with the witch.

I felt so hurt not because she called me a betrayal but because she didn't care about how I felt. I decided to give her space, besides I need some time for myself as well.

I noticed the surprise on her face when I refused to acknowledge her presence, well none of it is my fault though.

"Then how are you going to destroy the Gem, Mr?" She asked, as she crossed her hands beneath her breast making them raise. I exhaled and tried to remove my mind from such thinking.

Lucas seemed as surprised as me, I'm sure he was wondering how Denise isn't going to come along and we will still have the Gem.

Well, the answer wasn't as deep as they were thinking, so I replied to her question by saying, "You will hand over the Gem to me, it seems like the Gem Guardian isn't willing to protect the Gem," I said and the hurt in her eyes was very noticeable. She cleared her thoughts and tried to stay strong.

The room was silent, as Lucas looked at me in shock, he didn't expect that to be my reply. But I know how Denise is with words, even though she tries to appear strong and ruthless after the death of her father, hurtful words still hurt her.

The room was silent for some time and we were just looking at each other, trying to read minds, it seemed I was the weakest among all but I didn't feel intimidated, I just tried to hide my thoughts.

"I'm coming" Denise stated, as she left both of us in the room. Lucas looked at me and smiled. He was grateful I got her to come with us.

He ushered me to start packing my things which I did without hesitation. As we were parking, I didn't have so many clothes so I took a little bag. Denise carried a little bag as well and we were ready for the search for the witch. We will just know the plan and ….wait what's the plan?

I turned to Lucas and asked, "What's the plan?" And he looked at me in silence. It was not possible that Lucas wouldn't have a plan, but it seemed like the impossibility was about to become a possibility. The expression on the face gave him away but we remained silent and waited to hear from the horse's mouth.

"I do not have a plan," he said after long minutes of silence.

Denise and I exchanged glances before yelling, "What"
