Chapter 121 The Traitor's Confession
Chapter 121 The Traitor's Confession
Alexander gripped the steering wheel of the black SUV as it sped along the winding mountain road toward his father’s remote cabin. His security team sat in tense silence in the back seats. No one spoke. They knew better than to interrupt when their alpha was in this state. His mind raced with a storm of emotions that refused to settle. Worry for Maddie clawed at his chest like a living thing. Guilt gnawed at him relentlessly. Rage burned hot beneath his skin threatening to break free at any moment.
He had spoken to her on the phone the night before. Her voice had been a lifeline in the darkness. But the separation still tore at him. The Silver family had made it clear she would stay with them until the war was over.
The road curved sharply and he took it faster than necessary. The tires gripped the asphalt with a low growl. He thought of Maddie’s face when he had seen her at the celebratory dinner. Guilt twisted sharper in his gut. He should have seen Ben’s desperation. He should have kept her closer, he should have protected her better. The thought that she had been drugged and chained while he was fighting the wrong battle made his wolf snarl with barely contained fury. He wanted to shift and tear through the forest until he found every last enemy who had dared touch her. But rage without direction was useless. He needed answers first, he needed to know who had truly orchestrated this.
The cabin came into view as the road crested a hill. It sat nestled among ancient pines, a sturdy wooden structure with smoke curling from the stone chimney. Two of his father’s trusted wolves stood guard outside. They nodded silently as the SUV pulled up. Alexander stepped out into the crisp mountain air. The cold bit at his skin but he barely felt it.
He walked straight to the basement entrance. The stairs descended into a reinforced room lit by harsh overhead lights. Ben and Jace sat chained to metal chairs bolted to the floor. Both looked worse for wear. Ben’s face was still swollen from previous questioning. Jace stared at the floor with dead eyes. They had been held here since the airport incident. Alexander had not visited them since. Until now.
He closed the door behind him with a heavy click. The sound echoed in the small space like a final judgment. Ben looked up and his eyes widened with fear. Jace remained silent.
Alexander walked slowly to the center of the room. He stopped in front of Ben and crouched down so their eyes were level. His voice was low and dangerous.
"You are going to tell me everything," he said. "Who contacted you to kidnap Maddie. How it happened, every detail. If you lie to me I will start removing pieces from you, until you beg to tell the truth."
Ben swallowed hard. His voice was hoarse. "I do not know what you want from me. I already told you everything."
Alexander smiled coldly. He pulled a pair of pliers from his pocket and held them up. The metal gleamed under the light. "We will start with your fingernails. Then we move to other things. Speak now."
Ben’s breathing quickened. "Kael Evans. He contacted me months ago. Said they had been watching Maddie, they knew she was the Silver heir, and they offered money and protection in exchange for delivering her to them. I didn't ask who they are, but he explained it's a clan called ironthorn, which I later overheard that they are actually moonthorn, but it was none of my business. I planned the fake divorce meeting to lure her to my apartment alone. I told her I wanted to sign the papers and apologize. She believed me and she came alone."
Alexander’s grip on the pliers tightened. "And Tamara?"
"She helped coordinate the escape," Ben said quickly. "She and the maid provided inside information from the estate. She was the one who helped us get Maddie out of my apartment to the warehouse, She rented the private jet. Kael Evan was the one who contacted me. Tamara was working for them too. They used the Ironthorn name to mislead you. They branded everything and also told the wrong name and symbols so you would look in the wrong direction."
Alexander’s wolf raged inside him. He grabbed Ben’s hand and positioned the pliers around his index fingernail. "Why did you do it? Money? Revenge?"
Ben’s voice cracked. "All of it. Money. I hated you for not giving me a seat on the board as you promised even after I got married. I hated you for sleeping with my wife. I wanted to destroy you, I wanted you to lose everything like I felt I had lost."
Alexander laughed. A short cold sound that echoed in the room. "Son there is a lot you do not know. And I do not have the time or luxury to explain it to you."
Ben shouted back, his face twisted with rage. "Do not call me son. I am not your son. You were once married to my mother but that does not make me your son. Besides, you should be five years or so older than me."
Alexander scoffed. "At least I am older than you are and it is more than a decade."
He released Ben’s hand and stood up. "We need to put our differences aside to find the people who want Maddie dead. Tell me everything you know about Kael Evan. Every contact. Every plan they mentioned."
Ben broke completely. He told them a few things he knew. How Kael had approached him with promises of power, money and how to get back at you. How Tamara had been the inside link, she wants maddie out of your life so she can be with you. Their ultimate goal was to use Maddie’s Silver blood and the baby for a ritual to create a super alpha, that's the summary of what i can make out of everything they said, i understand nothing about you monsters. This is all i know, find Keal and you will get the rest of the answers to your question, i know hes a mid level coordinate
When he finished Alexander stood up and walked to the door. Ben called after him desperately.
"If you want to kill me go ahead with it and not keep me here. Do it and get it over with."
Alexander paused at the door. He turned slightly. "I will not kill you, maybe not yet. But you will be locked up under here until I am done sorting out the mess you helped to create."
He walked out while Ben cursed him loudly. The sound followed him up the stairs but he did not look back.
The war was far from over. But now he had more pieces of the puzzle. He would use them to bring Maddie home.
