I was very Lonely
Chapter 38 - I was very Lonely
Special Chapter - Elliot's POV
My earliest memories started when I was four years old.
I opened my eyes to see the bright sky. Birds were chirping in the air and the wind blew on my face as I felt the soft grass caressing my back.
The place where I was in was very beautiful and peaceful.
However, I didn't know where I was.
In fact, I didn't know anything.
Why was I lying in that place? Who put me in there? Why was I there and what was I suppose to do?
Who was I supposed to be?
The only thing I knew... was the soft voice in head who told me that my name was Elliot and that I have to live my life in this place from now on.
So, I started to live my life, alone.
With my two young hands, I learned to gather fruits when I was hungry. I also taught myself to get the water from lake when I was thirsty.
I learned how to live.
And I grew up.
Alone.
It was only when I was ten years old that I felt a strange power. I was watching the stars before I sleep when I suddenly felt heat coming from my belly.
Instinctively, I stared at the north. It was like.. calling me.
So, I traveled in order to find that power.
I met a lot of humans on my way, and I learned to live among them. Even though I was young, I was aware that I am different from the humans.
That was why, I decided to live alone. I didn't allow myself to get close to anyone.
By the time I was about to turn fourteen, I knew that something strange would happen to me. I distanced away from the humans and found a forest where I felt safer and more comfortable.
I was very calm when I experienced my first shift. At that time, I understood what I am and what was my kind.
But still, I didn't understand why I was there. In that time and place.
So I traveled once again and finally found a place where I could stay.
The three old wolves saw my power and potential and decided to make me as one of their own. They've taught me everything that I didn't know and gave me a mission. Somehow, my life had a direction.
Still, in my heart I knew that place was not where I truly belonged.
Suddenly, one day, the scattered pieces in heart became clear as I stared at a young child with dark hair and dark eyes.
He was calmly sitting on a chair while slowly sipping his drink.
For the first time in my life, I felt my heart tremor and my nose turned sour... because I knew who he was.
I watched him from afar but I couldn't get close to him... as I didn't know.. if he knew who I was.
Also, for the first time in my life, I felt afraid... and my heart felt bitter.
Years went by, I clothed myself with black cloak which covered my body from my head to my toes. I've liked this cloth as it covered my insecure self and empty but longing heart.
As I was taught long ago, I learned that I have a mate, somewhere in this world.
I have always thought and convinced myself that maybe... my heart would finally stop feeling empty when I find her.
So, I started to earnestly look for my mate.
However, years went by and I visited all of the packs in the world. Still, I haven't found her.
I traveled the world thrice.
Still, my mate was nowhere to be found.
One night, my heart was feeling so much emptiness as I stare in the horizon. Could it be? That I was born in this world to be lonely?
In my desperation, I knelt and called to the soft voice that placed me in this world.
"Moon Goddess... I beg you." Was the only word I was able to utter.
I did not need to explain, because I knew she would understand.
I heard a gentle sigh and the soft voice told me, *"My child, finally."*
*"After all these years, you called unto me." *
Suddenly, I felt the wind changed their direction.
I instantly followed it until I arrived at a small human town.
There I've seen.. a teenage girl in her uniform. She had a brown hair that fell on her shoulders and her eyes are the brightest gray that I have ever seen.
She was sitting on the grass and leaning on a tree with a book on her hand.
She was... very beautiful.
I felt my heart throbbed so hard in my chest.
For the second time in my life, my eyes blurred with tears.
I stood hidden behind the tree as I watched her lovely lips form into a smile.
And with just her smile, finally, the feeling of loneliness that I felt in my heart since the beginning, slowly melted away.
...............................
Elliot sat by the side of the bed and softly held Iris' hand.
It was already morning, and he quietly stayed beside Iris the whole night.
Slowly, Iris stirred awake. The first thing she saw was the face of her husband looking at her tenderly. His eyes were showing deep set of emotions.
Iris blinked and sat down.
"What's the matter?" She worriedly asked him as she held his face.
Elliot deeply looked into her eyes as he carefully told her, "My love... the doctor said... that we are going to have a baby."
Iris blinked and her mind blanked for a few seconds while Elliot sat there like he was waiting for his life or death decision.
Suddenly, Iris held his hands and said, "Really?" Slowly, her face turned into a beaming one with eyes turning into crescents. The joy in her face was very evident as she excitedly asked him, "Inside me, am I really carrying your baby?"
Elliot looked at the joyful face of his wife then lowered his eyes to her still flat abdomen. Then, he returned his eyes on her face.
"Yes." He softly uttered. His heart felt overwhelming joy... and belongingness.
"Yes. You are going to be a mother... and I am going to be a father... of our child." Elliot slowly said before his voice cracked and a single tear fell from his eyes.
