Chapter 62

Rebekah gaped at us from the doorway looking from Scarlet to me, my heart almost leapt out of my chest and I couldn't help but wondered how much of our conversations she could have possibly heard. Plastering a fake smile on my lips, I hurried over to her side to bring her deeper into the room. Luckily Scarlet knew when to excuse herself, once she was gone, I closed the door behind her before I could attempt an explanation, Rebekah raised her hand.
"What was that all about? Don't tell me it was nothing okay" She reported folding her arms across her chest.
"Scarlet was just telling me a few useful things she know about the councils so far, turned out we both came from the same part. What did you think we were talking about?" I asked keeping my heartbeat under control, I knew she was listening to them to find out if I was
telling the truth or not. All werewolves do this.
"If you say so. I was really getting worried, I thought it was something else. I don't trust that Scarlet girl, I think you should rethink the decision of making her your maid" She replied. "Oh, I only came here to tell you not to look for me, Darren is finally taking me to see his parents but I'm worried, what if they don't like the fact that I'm an omega or the fact that I was a slave" She let out a breath. "Darren told me not to worry but I can't help it"
"If he said you should be worried then don't. Darren already marked you, there is nothing you can really do about it" I assured out as we both left my room, once she was gone, I hurried over to Scarlet's room.
"Finally, I was wondering when you are going to get rid of your friend. This is very important Luna, you have to open the gate for them to come in. It's a simple but important task" She repeated.
"Looks like the councils are forgetting I'm just a slave, I don't have access to the opening or closing of the gate or the palace. You know what? I want to send you back to the councils. Tell them our deal is off and if they try to hurt me, I promise to tell Alpha Kayden everything" I threatened, turning around to leave but she held me back.
"Tell Alpha Kayden? And what do you think would happen? He will kill you and you can say goodbye to your dreams of ever getting your freedom back. This is no time to pity these people, they hate us, they killed your parents"
"The councils killed my father in case you haven't heard. I want nothing to do with the fuel that is happening between them" I snarled snatching mine away from hers.
"Why do you think the councils used you anyway? This has something to do with you more than you can imagine. Alpha Kayden is your soul mate, that is why they are using you to get to him, what is the easiest to bring a powerful man like him down? Through his weakness" She blurted out. I rolled her eyes shaking my head at her.
"Jokes don't work on me. I want nothing to do with you or the councils. Stay away from me" I warned matching out of the door, but she ran towards the door and locked it. "Why did you do that?" I hissed at her.
"I won't let you leave until you listen to me. You can't back out of the councils. I'm not lying Alpha Kayden is your mate, why did you think Genevieve was killed? Why did you think Alpha Kayden bothered with finding Genevieve? Because they both knew the truth, these are powerful men and women Luna, they don't care about us. Your mate doesn't want you" I staggered, bumping against the door, I couldn't believe what she just told me. *Alpha Kayden is my mate?* that doesn't make any sense. It's can't be! Omegas do not get mated to Alphas. It's not possible.
"If Alpha Kayden is my mate like you said, why do the councils think I would want to kill my own mate? The more you try to convince me, the less sense it makes. I have a punishment hanging over my head already, I don't want anymore okay? Stay away from me and tell the councils are deal is off. I don't care about Kayden or the councils" I unlocked the door and walked out, bumping into Sophie who stood outside the door.
"Plotting against the Alpha? Who could have thought" Sophie laughed looking at me with disgust written all over my face? "I have always known you were up to go good. Wait until I tell Alpha about this" She spun around and walked off.
I made to go after her but Scarlet pulled me back. "Don't worry about her, she won't say anything. Rethink your decision about giving up your freedom" With that, she closed the door of her room.
I slowly walked back to my room recalling what Scarlet just told me, it doesn't make sense but more importantly, I can't possibly trust someone like Scarlet, I mean she works for the councils while on the other hand, she might know a lot of things because she works with them. At this point, I didn't know who or what to believe. I slumped down on my bed trying to take any sense out of what I have just been told.
"I know what to do" I mumbled under my breath. I have to confirm this from Kayden himself one way or the other. A noise from outside caught my attention since it was obvious it was coming from outside my room followed by a heavy banging on my door
"I'm coming" I yelled opening my door, I gasped when I saw Sophia laying down outside my door in a pool of her blood. "What is going on?" I asked the crowd of servants standing outside my door.
"It looks like the Alpha's slave has killed the Alpha mistress out of jealousy," Scarlet said out of nowhere as she join the crowd. "How can you explain her being dead outside your door?" She snapped, and everyone started to agree with her immediately.
I looked from Sophia's dead body to the crowd outside my bedroom, I was speechless and paralyzed with shock. When Scarlet told me Sophia won't talk, she had meant to kill her and now she was pinning the death on me!
