The reason for its ruin
Saviour's POV
“You drugged me,” my voice thunders within the room as I lock gaze with my mother, the first time since I woke up.
She stays relaxed on the couch, toying with her golden bracelet. “I helped you.” She mutters, lifting her gaze to me. “Stop being ungrateful. Now you see, there's no way that mutt is coming back.”
“Goddess, how did I ever see any good in you?” I groan, feeling worse than I'd like.
But how much better can I feel knowing my own mother drugged me with a substance that could cost me my life.
“I should never have come for you. I should have let you rot in the cell. I should have allowed you pay for your crime.”
“Crime? You ungrateful fool. I made you who you are. I encouraged you to be more even when I knew you wouldn't amount to anything. I taught you how to be the best.” she says, jumping to her feet.
“You taught me how to hate myself, to always doubt my worth, to never make decisions for myself. You taught me to compete all through my life. To always choose material things because that's all I've ever known! You snatched me from my mother.” I growl, my hands clenching in rage.
“You think she would have done a better job? That poor dog.” She scoffs. “I'll let you rant. When you eventually come back to your senses and recognize that you have marked Kira as your mate, then you'll come back to me for wise advice… not whatever it is you've been feeding yourself from that trash they call a pack.”
“I marked Kira?” My eyes widen in disbelief. Shit, I have no memory of it. “No, there's no way I'd do that, not even if I was insane.” I say, shaking my head.
“You didn't do it.” Kira's voice flows into the room.
Mother jumps to her feet. “What the hell do you think you are doing?”
“Fixing the mistake I made.” Kira says, her voice shaky as she steps in. “It was all a lie, the mark… it was your mother's idea but you kept calling for Raven and I couldn't bring myself to give you the liquid she said I should.” Tears fall from her eyes and she turns to Mother.
“I used a knife to create the illusion but I had to put in a bit of silver so it wouldn't heal. I wouldn't have bothered if I'd known all this then.”
Wiping her tears she turns to me. “I'd never have gone through with the plan to make Raven jealous if I'd known your life was at risk, Saviour. Please forgive me.”
“You have no right to seek my forgiveness. You knew exactly what you were doing. So if that drug didn't threaten my life then it would have been alright? Is that what you're saying?!” I bark, making her flinch.
Her lips tremble as she stutters. “Please forgive me. I promise to leave you alone now. I'll never have your heart and that's fine. I'll never have your body also and that's fine. I'm worth so much more and I don't want to ever stoop so low again.”
“Whatever deal it is we made, Kira. Today marks its end. Tell your father to take away his aids, I don't give a fuck. And you mother,” the words stick to the roof of my mouth but I continue.
“As from today, you lose the privilege to call me son. The moon goddess sure knew why she took that pup from you. And it's because you are not fit to be a mother.”
“Saviour! Come back here! Saviour!”
But I don’t look back at either of them. My hands clench the paper in my hand, my face squeezing into a stoic expression as I head down the hallway and to my father's study.
The moment I step inside, Rose's sharp voice echoes.
“I swear on my life alpha he’s fucking gay”
I stop at the door, my feet freezing in place when I take in the picture before me.
Andy grunts in pain as two guards holding his hands in an awkward position behind his back, roughly push him to his knees.
Callum is standing before Father, his eyes hardened with fury and fear.
I step further inside, tucking the paper into my front pocket. Andy's face is streaked with blood, his chest heaving as if every breath hurts to take.
Father sits behind his desk, his eyes blazing, his claws aggressively tapping on the wood like he’s trying not to snap.
“Rose, you risk your life accusing my son of something so great. Do you even understand the weight of your words?” he growls.
“It's true,” Callum chokes out, his voice harsh, his hands in tight fists beside him.
Andy raises his trembling voice. “No, don't hurt him. It was me, I forced myself on him. Please punish me alone, don’t punish him.” he says.
Callum’s eyes darken in wrath. “No Andy, stop. Don’t do this, don’t you dare take the blame. I can’t live with that trauma.” His chest heaves also, his whole body shaking.
“Callum, what is this madness?!” Father growls, slamming his fist into the desk.
“It's true we’re mates!” Callum shouts back. “I didn’t choose this but I can’t deny it anymore. He’s mine and he's the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
“Enough of this madness!” Father roars and the room instantly goes silent. “Guards! Throw that disgrace of a son in the dungeon.”
“No! Please,” Andy cries but stills at what father says next.
“And you Saviour,” I scowl at him. “...kill that boy now and prove to me your loyalty.” Father commands.
My heart stutters and I shake my head but just then Callum charges at one of the guards holding Andy and strikes, his claw digging into the man's neck.
He yanks out, causing the man's blood and tissues to gush out with the force.
“Saviour, get him, now!” Father yells but I don't move a muscle.
I'm done taking orders from him.
