203. HUSBAND & WIFE
203. HUSBAND & WIFE
SELINE
I am crying. Again.
For him, for me, for Celia, for Hana, even for Storm, for every fucking thing. I'm trying hard not to. I really am. But I can’t.
The dam just flows, flows, and flows. Kade held me through it all.
“I hate them,” I sniffled hard. “I hate them all.”
He rubbed my arms, pressing lingering kisses against my face.
“It’s alright. It’s over.” He repeats the same mantra.
“It will never be over. We can run from the past. But one way or another, it will catch up to us. It will never be over. Every time I look at Hana, I am afraid of how she would react when she knows the truth about her birth. Every time I learn something new about you, my heart breaks all over again. We don’t deserve it, Kade.”
“I know.”
“Then how can you stay so nonchalant? Does it hurt you, too? Are you suffering alone?”
The amber in his eyes burned as he took my chin in his hands, tilting my head to make me look at him, “Does your past hurt me? Yes. Does my past hurt me? No. Does the fact that we weren’t normal bother me? No. I would wish for normalcy for you if it had gotten you a better childhood. But I don’t want that. If I were normal, I wouldn’t have found you. I wouldn’t have obsessed over you. I am okay with everything that happened to me, Wildling. Because everything led to you.”
There was so much sincerity in his eyes, so much love and passion that I couldn’t help but sob like a child.
“Why didn’t you tell me about your past? Did you think I would judge you for that?”
He shook his head. “I thought you would be scared of me.”
A laugh escaped my mouth before I could stop it.
“I was never scared of you, husband, and never will be.”
“Say that again.”
“I was never scared of—,”
“No. Call me husband again.”
I laughed again, my head fell back onto his chest. “I call you husband all the time.”
“No, you don’t.”
“I do.” I protested.
He grinned. The heaviness in his eyes disappeared. He looked peaceful. I would burn the world to keep him that way.
I sat and cupped my face. He tilted his head and kissed the inside of my palm.
“Who set this all up?” I asked him.
“I have an idea who. But I needed to confirm it’s really him before I take any actions.”
I nodded slowly.
We both stay there for some more time, looking out of the window. There is no sea in sight. Bernan itself is an island. We can’t change the place. But he chose the perfect home.
“We will get through this. We will get through everything.”
He nodded in response.
“I will never be scared of you, Kade. I will never think of you differently because the adults in your life failed. I am sorry I ruined our wedding.”
I still remember the way he forced a smile out of his face when he saw me walking down the aisle in a pink dress.
He pulled me closer. “I ruined it first.”
“Yes. And I ruined the second one.”
That somehow made him smile, “We are made for each other.”
I smiled too.
“Imagine what Hana would say if she were watching us like this.”
“Cringe?” I guessed.
“Not aesthetic.”
I was laughing again.
“That’s not how you use the word, big man.”
There was silence again.
“God. Remember your apartment at Willowmark? I filled everything with Pink there.” I squeeze my eyes shut.
We were so occupied with hurting each other, getting rid of each other.
That Seline would have laughed if I said she would willingly marry Kade.
“No point in dragging the past. It’s over. We are married. We are home.”
“I still ruined our wedding,” I murmured.
“And I did that first. You didn’t ruin it, Seline. You rewrote every memory I had with that colour. You were there, walking down the aisle, ready to become mine in Pink, looking like an angel—”
I raised a lone brow.
Kade chuckled as he continued, “Looking as lethal as ever, and I fell in love with you all over again. Pink doesn’t disgust me anymore.”
As we both watched the sunset, there was only one thing on my mind.
“Wife?” He called.
“Husband.”
“I think—,”
“I think—,”
“We both should marry again.” We said in unison.
The next second, Kade was on his knees.
The guy with a big scar on his face, the guy who lived his life in shadows but came out for me, who scares an entire city but softens just for me, the don is now kneeling in front of me.
“Marry me one more time, Wildling. Give me one more chance. Make me yours one more time and let me you mine once more. I swear I will make everything right.”
I cupped his face, “You made everything right.”
“Then, let me make this right, too. Let’s get married again.”
I teared up. Again.
“We won’t get much time once they are born,” he pointed at my bump.
“Layla will spiral,” I said.
“Yeah. You know how she is — wait — does that mean, yes?”
I nodded my head eagerly, smiling through my tears.
He rose to his feet, lifting me in his arms and kissing me fiercely. We managed to discard our clothes in record time. His body covered mine as he pressed me against the wall.
His tongue is in my mouth, his fingers inside my panties, rubbing me senseless. And I was moaning, whimpering, and crying.
AUTHOR’S NOTE:
Dear Readers,
It has been a while since I left a note. This month would be the end of THE ENFORCER. I am not sure how I did it. I finished it. There is still a lot to learn and improve. I am grateful for all the support and love. I hope I keep you all entertained.
I may take a break for a month or two before starting work on the next project. I will probably announce the details this month itself. So stay tuned.
But I would really like to hear your thoughts and your likes. What are the genres you prefer, and what kind of stories are you guys looking forward to reading? I would like to know more about your thoughts.
If there is one thing I learned throughout my writing journey, it’s this: life goes on. There is nothing better than a good food, a good book, and a good sleep.
So, eat well. Sleep well. You guys are with me during my tough time. I hope my books stay with you during your tough times. I hope they become your escape when your reality gets heavy.
Note - My next book will feature either Lilly or Hana as the main lead. I can’t decide on whose story I should write first. Whose story do you wanna read first? Let me know. I promise, with their personalities and wit, the stories would be entertaining.
Thank you all.
