Chapter 68: Attempt of Reconciliation

**The Demon’s Love**

*Chapter 68: Attempt of Reconciliation*

Zaren’s

I squinted my eyes as I looked at Evangeline and Amari. I couldn’t shake off the feeling that I had been just replaced by another woman she hadn’t seen for a long time, yet they were so close. I found it annoying. How could two women who never met came so close to each other it was annoying? I felt my head throbbed at that thought, staring at the linking arms of the women.

Another uninvited person placed his hand on my shoulder which I was more upset. I looked at Louis and sighed.

“Why are you sighing so loudly, Mister Ren?”

That was the name I made from my name so that no one would know that I was here. I doubt if something even knew that me and Amari were here since we came using teleportation. I slapped Louis hand, and he clicked his tongue in aggravation.

I folded my arms, as we walked through the small alley. We were going to Evangeline’s exclusive place where she experimented with herbals and such things. We managed to put a hold onto Darkness and for the time being nothing would be able to attack the people or kingdom using that same method. No one knew that we came back from our mission to recuperate since most of the knights were wounded, injured, some were even killed.

And to mourn and bury them specially, we asked Evangeline for help as to make sure no one from the Palace knew that we came to bury and mourn for the comrades who went along with us.

I told Louis, “Does your father know?”

He smirked, “I never even informed him. By the way, why do you need me here?”

I sighed. “I think you need to see her, don’t you?”

Louis lifted a brow, “Her? What do you mean? Evangeline rejected me, you see.”

I laughed. To hear that from him sure sounded like a sarcastic comment. On the other hand, to have the courage to decline a Crown Prince’s affection seemed to be a lot of work. I respect Evangeline. Being the lover of Louis would stir trouble, besides, it would make the nobles and the higher ups mock Evangeline due to her humble background.

I don’t think one would notice because Evangeline looks more like a noble due to her pink hair. She is pretty, but of course, I love my wife.

“Efforts and hard work pay off.” I nodded my head at him intending to give him motivation, yet he looked disheartened. It had been one year since he was chasing Evangeline.

As far as I knew, Evangeline didn’t dislike the Crown Prince. In fact, she loves him too but since they came from different classes, it would be insulting to the Crown of the Prince to be with someone lowly as her. She wanted him to have a better partner.

Nonetheless, it was still heart wrenching that she was ready to discard her feelings away if it means protecting Louis dignity and power.

He shook his head, “She is upset and doesn’t talk to me. How are we going to reconcile?”

I patted his shoulder, “You used to tell me that same thing. Well, anyway, we are here to partly help you and help us.”

“Help you? What do you mean?”

“We got to know Evangeline knew Hieroglyph and with her knowledge, we could use it to bind Darkness and vanish till the end of the moon.”

Louis understandably nodded his head. “I understand your desperation but what she knew was the foundation of it.”

I laughed at him, “That is why we’re here. Amari has found something to help her awaken her powers.”

“Powers? What kind of powers does Evangeline has?”

I seriously looked at him who was doubting my words. I could see his emotion right now. There was confusion, surprise, and flustered. I think these three were mixed into one emotion called – bewilderment. I supposed that was the most emotion he was feeling right now.

“Evangeline has a foundation of being a Divine Priest.”

“Oh, like Daniel the one you took home?”

I frowned at his misleading words and grunted. “Your wordings are mismatched and could mislead someone. He is one of the people I saved not took home.”

He laughed after being corrected then I tapped his shoulders. Witnessing that Amari was sharing conversation with Evangeline, she must know she was ignoring Louis as to not make the atmosphere awkward. Though, I am very curious to what they were talking about without informing us.

“When everything is better, I will talk to Evangeline.”

“Hm, the reasons she rejected you was entirely because you are the Crown Princess, and she is a mere commoner. Besides, the Emperor might get upset.”

“I know. That is why I came here to ask for your help.”

I smiled at him, “Thanks in advance.”

“Come here, we’ve arrived.” It was Amari who smiled at us then I saw her mischievous wink. I feel like she had done something to Evangeline to act that way. We don’t want to continue our plan if these two doesn’t make up really quick. Otherwise, it would make things harder and more difficult.

If we desire to completely kill Darkness, we need her help. I could ask for assistance from the Tempel but that would cause trouble since officials visits there and we needed to be careful to where we go.

I nodded at her guidance. I led Louis and we followed behind. I asked Amari.

“What did you say to Evangeline?”

She merely smiled, “Nothing, just some things about her beloved.”

I pinched her cheek, “What did she say, then?”

She pondered, then giggled. “It seemed that she is in love but couldn’t be due to their identities. I gave her a rough idea of what we’re going to do, and she was willing than ever. I must say her efforts would be appreciated once this is over.”

I caressed her head, hurriedly leaning forward to give her a peck on her forehead.

“Thank you for your support. I am sure these two will definitely reunite.”

She held my hand, “Considering the way she acted and moved when I told her about him, she definitely has the feels.”

I nodded my head, “We must hurry so that both of them wouldn’t regret this.”

“Haha, let us!”
