Chapter 63 063

Chapter 63 063
LYKA

I met Derrick’s fiery gaze head-on, refusing to tear my eyes away from him even for a second. The intensity in his eyes burned like wildfire, but I refused to look away. I didn’t even know what had gotten into him all of a sudden or what nonsense he was trying to pull, but one thing I knew for certain was that I wasn’t going to back down from him. Not today. Not ever.
Why was he asking me to be his Luna all of a sudden? The words had come out of nowhere, completely catching me off guard. Did he honestly think he could fool me with something like that? Did he think I would simply melt and forget everything he had ever done just because he threw such a title at me?
He must really think that I am some kind of joke.
“You called me to your office just to ridicule me, but now you’re asking me what exactly?” I started saying, my voice laced with irritation and disbelief, but my words faltered when I noticed Derrick’s eyes blinking rapidly.
His fingers trembled slightly at his sides, and the tension around him felt strange, almost unnatural.
“Leave! I have no words to exchange with you,” he ordered abruptly.
His tone was sharp and final, and for a moment I simply stared at him in surprise.
He doesn’t have words to exchange with me? Wasn’t he the one who called me here in the first place? The audacity of this man truly knew no bounds.
Still, since he had chased me out, I decided to comply. I didn’t particularly want to keep arguing with him anyway. My patience with Derrick had long been worn thin.
Without another word, I turned around to leave.
My steps had barely carried me a few feet forward when I suddenly heard a loud thud behind me.
My heart lurched in panic as I turned around quickly, only to see Derrick collapsing toward the floor.
“Are you okay?” I asked in alarm, rushing toward him instinctively.
But my steps halted abruptly when Derrick burst into loud laughter.
“I got you, didn’t I?” he said between chuckles.
A frustrated hiss escaped my lips as realization hit me.
Seriously?
I couldn’t believe him. How could he joke around like that when we had just been throwing harsh words at each other moments ago? My chest still burned with anger, yet he was laughing like it was some kind of comedy show.
I shook my head in irritation and turned to leave the room again, determined not to entertain his childish behavior any longer.
But before I could take more than a step, my movement froze.
Derrick suddenly wrapped his arms around me from behind.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have shouted at you,” he whispered softly near my ear.
The warmth of his breath against my skin sent a sudden shiver down my spine, and I gasped slightly at the unexpected sensation. Of all the things I had expected from Derrick, an apology had never been one of them.
For a brief moment, I felt stunned.
I knew Alexia would normally be making a feast out of this moment, teasing me endlessly about the situation. But strangely enough, I couldn’t feel her presence at all.
That wasn’t normal.
Something felt wrong about that, but the moment passed too quickly for me to dwell on it.
“What are you...” I began to ask, but my words died in my throat when Derrick suddenly nibbled on my earlobe.
At the same time, his hand slid across my chest and squeezed my breast through the fabric of my clothes.
“Mhmm...”
A shameless moan slipped from my lips before I could stop it, and my cheeks flushed immediately with embarrassment.
How could I react like that?
Just moments ago I had been furious with him, and yet my body was betraying me in the most humiliating way possible.
“I know you missed me… and I missed you too,” he murmured, gently turning me around to face him.
My eyes had already drifted shut because of the way his hands moved across my body, sending strange waves of warmth through me.
And that was my mistake.
Because I hadn’t seen the man standing in front of me.
But why had he suddenly gone from threatening me to saying that he missed me?
Was he bipolar or something?
I was so lost in the moment that I didn’t notice the change in the atmosphere around us.
The air had grown heavier.
The tension in the room thickened like an invisible storm gathering.
“You are the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes on,” he said slowly, trailing his fingers along my chin.
Every cell in my body seemed to jolt with strange excitement at his touch.
What was he doing to me?
“Even at night, I see you now… and your eyes…” he continued, his voice dropping lower as he paused mid-sentence.
Something about that pause made me uneasy.
Slowly, I opened my eyes.
And the moment I looked into his face, my blood ran cold.
His eyes had turned completely black.
It wasn’t Derrick anymore.
It was him.
Panic shot through my veins instantly.
I tried to push his hands away when I noticed he had already begun pulling down the strap of my dress, but the moment I resisted, his grip around my waist tightened painfully.
“Oh no… you caught me,” he chuckled darkly. “Wasn’t I gentle enough?”
His once soothing voice had changed completely.
Now it sounded husky… darker… filled with something dangerous.
“I want to go back to my room…” I tried to say, my voice trembling.
But before I could finish my sentence, he slammed my back hard against the wall.
The impact knocked the air from my lungs.
His palm suddenly wrapped around my neck, squeezing tightly.
I choked as his grip tightened.
“Where did you think you were going?” he asked, his lips curling into a devilish smirk. “Now that you know it’s not him, you want to run away? No way that’s happening on my watch.”
“What is wrong with you?!” I whimpered, clawing desperately at his hand.
But he was far too strong.
It felt like all my strength had vanished in that moment.
Why is Derrick always acting like this?
My thoughts grew hazy as the pressure around my throat increased.
“You are the cause of it all!” he suddenly roared.
The force of his voice shook the entire room.
Furniture rattled violently, glass shattered across the floor, and objects that had once been neatly arranged were now crashing down around us.
The room looked like it had been struck by a violent storm.
And all he had done was scream.
“What is happening…?” I thought in horror.
“Why are you doing this, Derrick? You’re scaring me…” I gasped weakly, trying to pry his fingers from my neck.
“You are the one delaying me,” he said coldly. “Why are you giving him hope, hmm?”
I had no idea what he was talking about.
All I wanted was to escape.
“No… you’re wrong… I’m not delaying anything… you can do whatever you want… just let me go…” I begged desperately.
My vision blurred.
Dark spots began to dance across my eyes.
My body was slowly losing strength.
Was I really about to die like this?
“What is going on here?!”
A powerful voice suddenly echoed from the doorway.
Relief flooded through me instantly.
“Oh, long time no see, Scott,” the man said casually, as if nothing unusual was happening. “I’m just having a conversation with my mate.”
Mate?
How was I his mate?!
“She is not your mate!” Scott roared, charging forward.
Something shiny flashed in his hand.
The man immediately released me, and I collapsed to the floor, gasping desperately for air.
Scott moved quickly, and because I was still trying to regain my breath, I barely noticed what had happened until I lifted my head again.
Scott was crouched beside Derrick’s motionless body.
“Ahhh! Is he dead?” I gasped in shock.
Scott shot me a sharp glare.
“No. He’s just...”
Before he could finish his sentence, Derrick suddenly sneezed loudly.
“Alpha!” Scott immediately bowed his head respectfully.
I rolled my eyes.
Great.
So he wasn’t dead after all.
Meanwhile, I had almost lost my life.
Derrick glanced around the destroyed room quickly before his eyes finally settled on me.
Relief flickered briefly across his face.
“Good for you,” he said casually.
I stared at him in disbelief.
“Good for me? Is that seriously the only thing you have to say?” I demanded.
But he simply looked away.
What?!
Was that really all he had to say after everything that had just happened?
Frustrated, I pushed myself up from the floor, using the nearby table to support my weight.
But as I stood, something on the floor caught my attention.
I narrowed my eyes and bent down to pick it up.
It looked like a stamp.
Relief washed over me when I confirmed my guess, but something about it seemed slightly different.
“This?” I shouted suddenly, shoving the stamp right in front of Derrick’s face. “Is THIS what your stamp looks like?!”
He frowned at me like I had lost my mind.
“Are you crazy? What are you talking about now?” he asked irritably.
I scoffed loudly.
Why couldn’t this man ever just answer a simple question?
“Just answer the question!” I roared.
He stared at me suspiciously for a moment before finally responding.
“Yes. That’s what the stamp looks like. Why? Do you have a problem with it?”
My mouth slo
wly fell open in shock.
My heart skipped a beat as the realization hit me.
“I will be god-damned…” I whispered under my breath.
