Kidnapped

Kidnapped
Lucas's Point of View

When Sophie called me, I initially thought she was lying and considered being rude to her. However, I then remembered how unpredictable that fucked jerk was. I couldn't resist gathering my group and tracking Sophie down.
When we went to her office, we couldn't find her. Judging by how messy the office was, I immediately suspected that Liam had done something to her, but we still couldn't locate her.
I decided to track down his number, and as expected, he was driving out of the city with Sophie. Fortunately, my team and I arrived just in time and surrounded him from all sides.

Stepping out of my car, I trudged over to him.

“Open this door immediately, or I will kill you right here and now.”
My voice was sharp and stern as I shot him a glare through the car window.

“I'm not going to open it, and there's nothing you can do.”
He issued a challenge. I couldn't help but scoff.
“And if you don't open the door, I'm going to show the whole world the pictures of you and your lover. Just imagine what will happen.”
Obviously, a coward like him would never want the world to see his true self; that's why he chose to hide behind Sophie and conceal his sexuality.

Liam clenched his jaw. “This is not over; I’m going to show you what I’m made of.”
“Open this door!”
I retorted.
Without uttering a word, he unlocked the doors. Sophie pushed the door open and stepped out of the car.

I signaled my men to clear a path for him, and, like the coward he was, he wasted no time and drove away.

Sophie rushed toward me, tears streaming down her face, and threw herself into my arms. A sharp pang pierced my chest at the sight of her crying like this.

I swear I've been trying to hate her for everything she's done to me, but it's clear that none of it is working because I can't stop thinking about her. I even think about her when I'm not consciously thinking, and that's how much she drives me to the brink of madness.
I scooped Sophie into my arms and trudged to the car. I gently placed her on the front seat, walked around the car, got in, and started the engine.
The silence in the car was suffocating, and the more I glanced at the rearview mirrors, the more I felt my blood boil with rage.
Just how dare Liam think he can make Sophie cry and get away with it just like that.
For once I agree with him—this was definitely not over. I'm going to settle the score.
Against my better judgment, I placed my hand on Sophie's thighs, stroking her gently. “Are you okay?”
I asked, trying hard to control the rage rushing through me—almost on the verge of exploding.
Sophie cleared her throat and brought her hand to her face, brushing away tears from her cheeks. “Umm… Thank you for coming to my rescue. Please drop me home; I need to sleep it all off.”
Fuck that! There's no fucking way I'm going to let her out of my sight. Just because I'm upset with her doesn't mean my love for her has died—it is very much alive in my heart, and for the sake of that, I'm going to protect her.
“You are coming with me.”
“Lucas, please.. I don't want—”
“You are coming with me, and that's the end of the discussion, Sophie.”
Sophie let out a deep breath. “I don't want to disturb your peace. Just drop me at my house and stop being so difficult unnecessarily.”
Her voice was laced with tiredness.
I chuckled. “You know you can't win against me… Why are you still trying to argue with me, knowing very well you are not going to win?”
I glance at her for a few seconds before turning my attention to the road.
“Stop the car! ”
“No.”
“Lucas, stop the damn car, or else I'm going to jump out.”
“Of course you are not going to do that.”
I threw a glance at Sophie before I moved my eyes to the road, but then the sound of the car handle clicked, and I hit the brakes and halted the car rapidly.
Sophie pushed the door open and stepped out. I followed suit and rushed after her as she dashed away from me.
I grasped her hand as I caught up with her and pulled her towards me.
“What the fuck is wrong with you, Sophie? Have you lost your mind?”
She tried to push me away, but I didn't allow her; instead, I pulled her closer to me, my other hand snaking around her waist.
Sophie let out a heavy sigh. “Maybe I've lost my mind, okay…” She let out a frustrated chuckle. “I've lost my mind, and maybe that's why I'm so madly in love with you despite you pushing me away like some rotten garbage. You know what? Just let me go…”
Guilt tightened in my throat. Of course I never wanted to see her this distressed, but she wasn't innocent either. “What about you, Sophie? Are you fucking innocent in all this...? You aborted my damn child and you didn't even find it important to let me know… You've hurt me more than anyone has ever had. You don't get to act like a victim of the situation you've created.”
I couldn't believe it even now; I never expected Sophie of all people to do that to me. I fucking trusted her, but I guess I'm the foolish one for trusting her. She was in love with Liam and married to him.
“Trust me, I regret everything I did, but can you blame me?” Sophie shut her eyes for a few minutes and sucked in a sharp breath before opening them again. “You and Liam played with my emotions… You betrayed me and took everything from me. What the heck was I supposed to do to raise a child on my own?”
I scoffed. “You are just making excuses… The truth is you were too in love with Liam to be pregnant with my child, and that's why you decided to abort it.”
I hated how rude and stupid I sounded right now, but that's just how I felt deep down.
Sophie let out a sigh. “You are welcome to think however you want, Lucas. I can't convince you otherwise when you've already made up your mind. Now will you please let me go? I'm too tired to be arguing with you.”
Fuck that. I'm never going to let her out of my sight ever again.
“You are coming with me, Sophie…” I said, my gaze locking with her teary one.
My stomach hardened. I hated being the reason for her tears. I'm not like that jerk.
“Can I ever win against you?”
“Agreeing with me is the only way you can win against me.”
“Fine then, I'm coming with you, Lucas. Happy?” Her voice was laced with sarcasm as she blinked back the tears that threatened to burst out of her eyes.
I forced a chuckle. “Very happy.” I released her from my arm and entwined my hand with hers as I led her back to the car.
The sound of a bullet echoed in silence, and before I could even react, the bullet came out of nowhere, piercing right into Sophie's chest.
My eyes widened as she winced in pain, her knees buckling up, and if I hadn't held her, she'd have hit the ground. Blood gushed out of her chest, eyes red, tears welling up in her eyes.
