Chapter 408: The Secrets of the Blue Moon Part 2
Chapter 408: The Secrets of the Blue Moon Part 2
Naya entered the room and when she saw the creature, she nodded in greeting. It was something that happened in a split second, but it was enough for Ian to notice and become indignant. But he didn't have time to describe his anger, because Baron made him turn to him again.
“My price is your pain.” Baron said and Ian frowned.
“And you'll protect her?”
“I will.”
“Then I accept.”
Baron smiled and touched Ian's arm. His mind immediately filled with images of Thalia and Adam together, happy and with lots of children around them. Ian pulled his arm away and looked coldly at Baron.
“That's not possible!”
“That's what's going to happen, little Alpha. The next time you meet, that's how you'll see her. If you ever meet again.”
“Why was that your price? Why did you want me to see it?”
Baron looked thoughtfully at Ian. The little Alpha wouldn't be able to live his life with the opportunities that will arise if he knew that there was even the slightest chance that he would be able to hold Thalia in his arms again. But he couldn't show that it was for his own good in front of all those people.
“It doesn't matter what you think of me. I promise I'll be the Lens family's worst nightmare.”
“You don't have to go out of your way to do that.” Maxwell said behind him.
Baron ignored it and kept his eyes fixed on Ian.
“You showed me Adam and Thalia together. Either you didn't kill my father and everything I think about you is true or... you're going to kill Thalia, which doesn't agree with you, because you're promising me that you'll protect her.”
“It's good that you were able to complete all this on your own, werewolf. But the question that will torment you to death is uncertainty. Whatever the truth, you'll never see either of them again for many years. Not as long as you live in that lair, hiding like a rat. Not while you're still in wolf form.”
“I was born a werewolf, monster. I... there's no way to change that.”
“We'll see. The light of the blue moon no longer exists and I hope that in a few years, not even the light of the ordinary moon will affect you with its magic.”
“It wasn't the moon that turned us into werewolves, monster. You seemed intelligent, but you believe in legends.”
“Do you deny that the light of the blue moon makes you stronger? Do you deny that the Lens are directly linked to the blue moon? Do you deny that all your instincts become altered and powerful under the influence of the moon?”
“And you believe that without the moon I would no longer be a werewolf?” Ian asked sarcastically.
Baron started to move away from Ian.
“No, Ian... But do you know what happened to the first werewolf? Do you know what happened to Jasmine and Suzy? No? I thought you didn't know. Someone who ignores the source of their gifts surely wouldn't mind never having seen any of them inside this cave.”
Ian arched an eyebrow as his eyes met David's, who shrugged as if it wasn't important.
“What are you talking about?”
Baron laughed, letting his sharp teeth gleam in the darkness that suddenly spread through the room.
“Ask your brothers, Ian. They are two unbeatable forces. I need them and I'm looking for a bargaining chip. Something that will make them serve me if the Blue Moon dares to shine again in a few years and when I find that 'currency', then I'll live in the world I've always wanted, free of werewolves and vampires.”
Ian smiled amusedly.
“When you wake up and find that your longings can't come true, I'll be here. And since you talked about living in a free world, I remembered that you made a promise about taking everyone to the surface. When will that happen?”
“I said seven years, but perhaps long before that I'll allow you to... 'live' on the surface. Wait patiently, little Alpha.” He said and left, without turning to the other people who were there.
Ian looked at Donald.
“What happened to Jasmine and Suzy?”
“They were absorbed.” David answered promptly.
“What does that mean?”
“The leader of the Firecolds wanted to know what it would be like if David and I became hybrids for a short time. Suzy was enough for that, but Jasmine didn't give in and fought for her friend. Obviously, she lost that fight. And the leader of the Firecolds absorbed her while David and I absorbed Suzy.”
“How does this perversity relate to the light of the Blue Moon?”
“Jasmine was transformed by a born vampire. You know it could just be someone from the Lens bloodline and... And the light of the Blue Moon that existed in Jasmine made the leader of the Firecolds extremely powerful during those days and he believes that's how David and I are and feel on a daily basis.”
Ian looked incredulously at Maxwell.
“You allowed that?”
“I didn't want to end up like Jasmine...” Maxwell said, shaking his shoulders.
Ian's disappointed eyes locked onto Naya.
“The whole time... You're the informant on that thing!”
“No.” She denied it quietly, knowing that all eyes were on her.
“I saw that you recognized him.”
“That doesn't mean I'm his ally.”
“How did you and he meet? When?”
“I can't talk about that.”
“Why not? Have you decided to be loyal to someone now? You had no problem handing over the secret of the Secret Source to Dester, but you want me to allow you to stay in here enjoying the safety along with all the werewolves who were affected by your disloyalty when it caused the deaths of thousands of our people?”
“If I say so, he'll kill my daughter!”
“That's always been your excuse, right? Your daughter! A daughter you abandoned to be a monster's bitch! You didn't want to protect Thalia. You can't even convince yourself of that big lie! All you wanted was Dester's penis up your ass!”
“Little Alpha, you're being unfair...”
“Shut up, Naya! I can't stand to hear your voice! You're not coming between us. Make a new deal with the Firecolds and get out of here!” He said resolutely and walked away.
