Chapter 78 SEVENTY EIGHT

Xavier's P.O.V
Damian stretched, yawning out loud as he ran his hands through his hair.”The only place that we haven't checked yet is the boutique and I doubt that Irene would be there because she doesn't come across to me as someone who loves material things” Damian said while I nodded in agreement to his words.
“You are right! There's nothing Irene would be doing there at the moment!” I said but deep inside of me, a voice kept yelling for me to first check out the boutique before jumping to conclusions. Another part of me stood its ground about Irene not being there at the moment and the more I thought about it, the more I concluded that there was no way Irene was there.
Damian heaved out multiple sighs as his chest rose and fell steadily. He ran his hands through his hair for the umpteenth time as he searched his eyes around the hotel. He was panting for air like a jackal as he squeezed his eyes shut and placed a hand on his chest.
“But, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't check. All the times that I have spent with Irene, I have noticed that she is someone who can be unpredictable at times” Damian said.
As if his words were the validation that I needed, I swung into action and ran toward the luxurious boutique. When I got to the entrance, I was having second thoughts about Irene being there. I shoved the thoughts aside and pushed the door open.
Damian sauntered behind me and a female attendant walked toward me with a bright smile on her face. Somehow, her smile managed to infuriate me and the only thing I wanted was to lash out at her or maybe I was overreacting because, in the end, she was just doing her job, and even though she might be sad or going through some things, she had to keep smiling like a fool.
“Welcome to Luxy boutique, do you have anything you want to get here? We sell different kinds of…..” Before she could finish talking, I cut her short instantly.
“I am looking for a lady whose name is Irene, she was with me when she mysteriously vanished into thin air. I hope you get what I am saying or do you want me to elaborate on my words?” I asked her while she nodded her head in a no and it made me wonder how she was able to keep that smile on her face despite the way I talked to her.
“Sir, I think that it would be of great help if you could give us a description of who you are searching for,” She said, smiling so wide that her white dental were so evident.
“She is of average height and she was wearing green cargo pant with a black hoodie. Her hair was tied into a ponytail and she has these eyes that look like it could draw someone” I said unapologetically.
However, I was confused when the maid chuckled and I was thrown into further confusion when Damian cleared his throat as well and when I turned to look at him, he was trying so hard to control not bursting into laughter. It kind of made me wonder if I said something that I shouldn't say.
“Did I say something funny?” I shot a glare at Damian who shook his head and I was seeing how he was trying to control not laughing to my face. He screwed his eyes shut as if he was trying to gather himself together and get a grip on himself.
“I think I know who you are talking about. She should be here at the moment!” The female attendant said while I heaved a sigh of relief, glad that she was finally found in the end.
“Please come with me” The female attendant gestured to me and Damian. She led us toward the cashier and my heart kind of juddered in my chest when I caught sight of the person standing at the cashier as she made payments. Even though half of her face was covered because of the hair that covered the side of her face.
I couldn't help but heave a sigh that depicted my relief and I couldn't wait to give her an earful. However, I was about to call her when she turned to look at me. The smile on my face disappeared instantly as my eyebrows furrowed in confusion with my face contorting into a frown.
It wasn't Irene! She didn't even look like Irene in any way and somehow, she was wearing the same clothes as Irene but when she turned to look at me fully, I could see that the design on her dress was different from that of Irene. I palmed my forehead and clicked my tongue in my mouth, obviously frustrated with what was going on at the moment.
I wanted to yell so badly at the female attendant for misleading me because how in the world did the lady standing at the cashier resemble Irene? Damian noticed how upset I was as he stood beside me.
As if he could read my mind, Damian placed his hands on my shoulder. “Alpha Xavier, I don't think that you should blame the female attendant for what is going on at the moment. Please recollect that the description given to her perfectly matches that of the lady standing at the Cashier’s counter”
“But she isn't Irene! I told her that the lady I was looking for was Irene” I almost yelled but quickly toned down my voice because I didn't want to gather unwarranted stares at myself.
Maybe Damian was right! Maybe I shouldn't blame the cashier lady for not recognizing who I described to her.
“We should rather deploy our pack members in Scotland to search for her!” Damian said.
I was about to turn away when a lady came out of the dressing room, wearing a pink fluffy and sparkly dress. I was at a loss for words to say because the lady standing before me was Irene.
