Chapter 30 CHAPTER 30

Chapter 30 CHAPTER 30
Sabrina

I didn't know when I slept by Vincent's side. However, my eyes fell open when I heard an incoherent sound coming from him. I get up and look at Vincent. He was sweating profusely and a bead of sweat coated his forehead.

“Vincent,” I called his name but there was actually no reply from him. His eyes were shut but he was actually mumbling something under his breath.

I moved closer to him and placed my ear close to his head to at least catch something. I have never witnessed Vincent acting like this in his sleep and this is my first time watching him sleep.

“Don't….don't…don't.” That was the only word I heard clearly.

Who is he talking to in his dream? “Vincent," I called and this time, he fluttered his eyes open. He rose up and got down from the bed. He rolled down the sleeve of his shirt and took the glasses.

“Wait here,” Vincent said and left the room.

I didn't expect him to act that way but he did. Without moving my feet, I sat down on the bed. I looked at the wall clock to see that it was already past 2pm.

When I thought he was just going to do something then he would come back for me, Vincent was actually outside for like 3 more hours before he eventually walked back inside the room.

“I am sorry. I had a meeting with the king and I never expected that it would be for such a long time.” Vincent explained and I nodded.

“Alright," I said and Vincent returned the glasses to the table. I watched as his hand was wrapped with a bandage and that actually piqued my interest.

“What happened to your hand?” I asked Vincent and he shrugged his shoulders. The melted iron somehow bleaches my hand, so I am trying not to let it worsen.

“How could that happen?” I asked him.

“It is just a light scratch and it will leave soon,” Vincent said and took out his phone and dialled someone's number.

“Get the dinner ready for us,” Vincent said to the person on the phone before ending the call.

I am not sure if Vincent is in his right senses right now. Is he not supposed to hate me for ruining his warehouse?

“What? Are you wondering why I am treating you nicely?” Vincent asked, his deep voice echoed as he walked towards me.

It's as if he read my mind. I never expected him to treat me well.

“No. I am just confused about what your plan is.” I said and he creased his brows.

Well, that's definitely not a lie because I am expecting him to say something harsh to me.

“I have Penny in my custody, so be assured that I will not hurt her unless you anger me first,” Vincent said and I wish I could thank him for reminding me to let me recollect what my purpose was in the first place.

Vincent and I walked outside the workshop. To my amazement, the men are still working. I kind of feel bad for causing all this. I also hoped that he would be able to accomplish what he actually hoped for.

On getting to the dining room, the food had already been served on the table by the maids. Vincent picked up a fork but it clattered right on the floor. He was planning to take it when I tried to help him but he stopped me.

Vincent picked it up again and then it fell back on the floor. I pushed my chair aside and walked to him. I picked up the fork and Vincent kept his gaze on me.

His scrutinising gaze actually made me feel uneasy but I can't tell him to look away, can I?

“What are you doing?” Vincent asked me and I showed him the fork I picked up.

“Your fork fell and I helped you to pick it up,” I said and placed the fork back on the table.

“Why can't you just feed me then? As you can see, I can't use my right hand.” Vincent said and I narrowed my eyes at him.

He is an Alpha for crying out loud and if he has a problem with his hand, he can actually make it fine within a few seconds without shifting at all.

“I believe you can still eat with your left hand,” I told him and this time, it was actually Vincent who narrowed his eyes at me.

“Okay, I will feed you,” I told him and he relaxed his expression. My instinct keeps telling me this is just a lie and there is nothing wrong with his hand but for Penny's sake, I decided to do just as he instructed me to do.

“I sat down on the chair next to Vincent and helped him by feeding him. I cut the steak with a fork and knife before giving it to him.

I thought he wasn't going to eat it but Vincent actually ate it today. He drank from the wine and continued eating when he was done, he told me to eat too which I did.

We were done when he suddenly stood up and got rid of the band. He stretched his hand forward and I stabbed the plate with the fork in my hand.

“Easy there,” Vincent said and I swallowed back the anger I felt.

“There is no point in feeling used, Sabrina . I only wanted to know how you are going to react to this.” Vincent said and I could hear the lie laced in his tone.

“And good that you later see my reaction," I said and my mind drifted back to when he kissed me in the bathtub.

The memory refused to leave my head no matter how I tried to ignore it.

“What got your face flushed?” Vincent asked, his gaze on

“Dream on because it is nothing,” I said and he clicked his tongue.

“Well, I actually see it's something,” Vincent said and I swallowed hard.

“Are you having a weird thought in your head?” Vincen
t asked and my cheeks only redden more because he actually saw through my facade.
