I make my way to the guest quarters. The only place Father knew we would be left alone not disturbed is there. Instead of going straight ahead, I tried to visit the restroom when I suddenly bumped into someone.

“Come on Sabrina. Are you even blind now just because you left your mate?” I recognised the voice instantly.

I looked up, rubbing my forehead when I saw Chloe. She wasn't alone but with a few of my old enemies.

I can't possibly refer to them as friends because they are the bullies I eventually put in their place.

“Sorry, Chloe. I didn't know you were there.” I apologised and tried to walk past her when Ethan suddenly blocked my way. The loser is still friends with them after all these years.

“Sabrina, do you want me to save you from the Old Alpha? We all know he is too old for you but I think you had no choice because no other Alpha will try to get into marriage with you again” Ethan said and they all burst into a fit of laughter and I don't really know that this is actually funny though.

“Ethan is actually a Gamma and you should know he will be promoted to the second in command soon. He already took the exam and soon, your father will have to appoint him as the head of the guard.” Chloe said and dusted her dress as if I somehow infected her with a disease after bumping into her.

I took a step closer to her and she crossed her hands over her chest.

“You must have thought you ate Chloe. However, I don't think we are friends enough to actually talk about what is going on in each other's lives.” They all looked at me stunned and Chloe wanted to make a move first but Ethan drew her back.

“Let her be. She will come crawling back to me. She is already a loser. I doubt the old Alpha will take you in as his Luna. You will eventually end up as a breeder.” Ethan said and they walked away, looking at me with disgust.

‘Breathe, Sabrina.’

I did just that and I moved forward, ignoring their insults when my footsteps suddenly faltered. I have been ignoring the ache in my stomach and it seems it's already paying me back for letting her.

I shut my eyes and opened them again but my vision was becoming blurry. I shook my head slightly and walked forward. Just a bit more steps and I will end up at the entrance, I am sure Alpha Jared is already looking for me now.

My plan is to teach him a lesson but I know if I would be able to make it. Still, I struggled to continue walking.

The guards pulled the door open for me to go in and I did. I was about to climb the stairs when I heard slow footsteps behind me. I felt a jab on my neck and slumped, my body going frail. I thought I was going to fall but a hand caught me and I breathed in that addictive smell.

Something that smells like fresh rain with mint. I clung to him and consciousness slipped out of me.



The sun rays slipped in through the open window and I was forced to flutter my eyes open. When I did, I wasn't expecting to see myself inside my room.

I remember going to Alpha Jared and suddenly…

“You are awake.” I heard the deep voice of Vincent and it sounded like a symphony in my ears.

I looked ahead to see Vincent push the table beside me with food placed on it. The aroma made my stomach rumble.

“What am I doing here?” I asked him and he finally looked up and stood beside the table.

“You fainted last night and one of the guards called for the attention of the physician,” Vincent informed me and I raised a brow.

What?

That is not true.

Last night, though I only have a faint memory of it, I remembered breathing in Vincent's scent or could I be wrong?

“It's your favourite food. You fainted because you have been taking only water since you came back.” Vincent said and my mouth fell open.

I was actually trying to pay attention to my body but somehow, I forgot to eat again.

However, I am still missing something.

“What?” I almost exclaimed looking at Vincent.

How could I forget that I needed to meet Alpha Jared last night?

“I need to go,” I said and got rid of the duvet. Getting down I tried to pack my hair into a bun when I felt the sudden air on my thighs. I looked down to see that I was putting on a short nightdress.

“Fuck.” I almost cursed out loud before taking the duvet back to cover my body.

Vincent cleared his throat and walked to one of my wardrobes. He threw a dress at me and I caught it in time.

“If you are asking about Alpha Jared, he is already about to leave the Pack,” Vincent said and I can't believe it.

“What?” I was shocked.

“More reasons why I need to see my father,” I said and got rid of the duvet. Vincent turned his back to me and I quickly dressed up.

What could have made Alpha Jared leave when he already said he would be waiting for a few days? I wore my slippers and made my way towards the door.

Before I could pull the door open, Vincent had already pulled it open for me. I left the room hurriedly and went to Father's chamber. I checked his room but he wasn't there.

Vincent asked the maid about Father's whereabouts and the maid said he is with Alpha Jared and they are both outside.

Panic sets in and my heart begins to thud loudly and skipping a beat. It was like that until I got outside. But the scene that met me, made me halt in my footsteps.
