Chapter 253
After silently complaining to herself, Lila responded with a different approach: "How would I, a driver, understand anything about business matters? Mr. Sinclair, you're an experienced businessman. You must have a clear idea of which deals to take and which to pass on. No need to ask someone like me who knows nothing."
Alexander ignored the phone that kept ringing and responded unhurriedly: "From a risk assessment perspective, investing in Washington Tech is a good choice. But I really don't like Wesley as a person. What do you think I should do?"
"Why don't you like Wesley? What's wrong with him?"
"He has his eye on you."
Lila was a bit shocked.
Alexander had been in business for years - didn't he separate business from personal matters?
Just because Wesley was interested in her, his Mrs. Sinclair in name only, he was going to give up the partnership with Washington Tech?
Lila smiled slightly. Her charm must be really something - if this were the Middle Ages, she'd be like a witch bewitching a lord.
She really didn't deserve such appraisal.
Seeing her silence, Alexander pressed: "Speak up. Should I agree to the partnership or reject it?"
Instead of replying, Lila asked: "If I tell you, will you do as I say?"
Hearing her words, Alexander's eyes showed some interest, and he said with a half-smile: "That depends on what you say."
"You should reject it."
"Really?"
He seemed surprised and chuckled: "Mrs. Sinclair is telling me to turn down money?"
Lila countered: "If you don't want to work with them, why force yourself? Just reject it directly and save yourself the trouble. Besides, you're not short on money. If you want to make money, I'm sure there are plenty of other ways. You don't need this one deal with Washington Tech."
After hearing her words, Alexander scoffed: "Mrs. Sinclair, are you saying this on purpose to make me agree to work with Wesley?"
They reached a red light, and Lila stepped on the brake.
Then she turned to look at him and asked calmly: "So if I said you should agree to the partnership, would you think I have some other intentions regarding Wesley?"
He immediately raised an eyebrow: "Do you?"
"No matter what I say, you'll interpret it according to your own ideas anyway, won't you?"
"Since when does Mrs. Sinclair understand me so well?"
Lila chuckled: "You are my husband after all, and my boss. We've been around each other for so many days now. Isn't it normal that I understand you a bit?"
"I thought you had a crush on me and were secretly studying me."
"If that's what you think, boss, then you're way off."
Alexander snorted lightly.
Lila stopped engaging with him.
Wesley's call had already disconnected once, and now it was ringing for the second time.
Alexander spoke reluctantly. "Seeing how persistently this Morris guy is calling, I suppose I'll take his call."
Lila had nothing to say about Alexander's arrogant attitude.
Do as you please, no need to report to me.
That's what she thought, but don't say it out loud. What she never expected was that after Alexander answered the phone, he put it on speaker.
Wesley's voice came through first: "Mr. Sinclair, regarding our partnership, have you finished considering it?"
"Still thinking about it."
"If I remember correctly, this is the third time I've called to ask about the progress since I left the Sinclair Group that day. Mr. Sinclair, if you don't want to partner with Washington Tech, you can actually just say so. Or, Mr. Sinclair, do you have any concerns about our partnership?"
Concerns?
He had no concerns, but he had dissatisfaction.
Dissatisfaction that this Wesley, who was hoping for the Sinclair Group to invest money, had his eye on his wife!
