Chapter 254
"I don't have any concerns about the collaboration, but..."
At this point, Alexander deliberately paused.
Wesley quickly followed up, "Please feel free to share any other concerns you have."
Alexander leaned back against the passenger seat and spoke slowly, "That day at the Sinclair Group, Mr. Morris barged into my driver's break room without permission. This made me worry about Mr. Morris's conduct. I'm concerned that during our collaboration, Mr. Morris might act on personal impulses, disregard his partner's opinions, and do things that are inappropriate or damaging to our reputation."
Hearing this, Lila sneered inwardly.
Wesley's steady voice came through, "Mr. Sinclair is overthinking this. That day was an exception. I just really wanted to meet your driver. It was my first impulsive moment in over twenty years. Mr. Sinclair, rest assured, I won't cause you any losses due to personal matters during our collaboration."
"Mr. Morris wanted to meet my driver so badly that you gave her your business card without considering the setting. May I ask, did my driver call you back afterward?"
Hearing this, Lila had to glance at Alexander.
He happened to be looking at her too. Their eyes met in the air. Alexander's lips curved with an ambiguous smile as he raised an eyebrow at her, as if asking "What are you looking at?"
Lila found Alexander's pretense of ignorance very annoying. Alexander had thrown the business card in the trash long ago, and the day after that incident when she went to work, the cleaning staff at the Sinclair Group's executive office had already emptied it.
She didn't even have the number. How was she supposed to call Wesley?
Still playing dumb.
Who was he testing?
While Lila was internally complaining like crazy, she heard Wesley's oblivious response, "To be honest with Mr. Sinclair, Miss Grace hasn't called me yet. If it's convenient, could you ask her for me?"
She just felt this was all very troublesome.
Whatever, this conversation between two men had nothing to do with her anyway.
Just then, the light turned green. Lila stopped paying attention to the phone call and drove forward.
However, what she never expected was Alexander's response to Wesley, "Sure, my driver is right next to me driving. I'll ask Mr. Morris's question right now."
After saying this, he stared at Lila and said, "Miss Grace, didn't Mr. Morris give you a business card last time? He asked me to check with you—why haven't you called him after all this time?"
Lila was helpless against Alexander's dark humor.
Alexander, you really know how to play games!
She shot him a look that said "you know perfectly well why" and said through gritted teeth, "I accidentally lost the card."
"I see. So if you find the card, Miss Grace, do you plan to call Mr. Morris?"
Lila realized this was what Alexander really wanted to know.
This question was what Alexander himself wanted to ask, wasn't it?
She pressed her lips together and said flatly, "No."
He stared at her with interest, "Why not? Mr. Morris is a talented young man. If you got together with Mr. Morris, you wouldn't need to work as a driver at the Sinclair Group anymore. Even if you stayed home as a housewife, I'm sure Mr. Morris wouldn't let you lack for money."
At this point, Alexander added meaningfully into the phone, "Right, Mr. Morris?"
"Mr. Sinclair is getting ahead of things. Miss Grace and I have just met. It's too early to talk about such long-term matters."
Hearing Wesley say this, Lila in the driver's seat breathed a sigh of relief.
But it was only one breath of relief, because the next second, she heard Wesley recklessly ask Alexander, "Mr. Sinclair, if it's convenient, could you give me Miss Grace's phone number?"
"What, Mr. Morris wants to take the initiative?"
"I'd like to invite Miss Grace to dinner."
Alexander's eyes suddenly turned cold, and his tone dropped the playfulness from before as he said coolly, "The Sinclair Group investing in Washington Tech, or me giving you Miss Grace's contact information. If Mr. Morris could only choose one of these two options, which would you choose?"
