Chapter 27
Alexander snorted dismissively.
Lila lowered her head somewhat embarrassedly, her cheeks slightly flushed.
Alexander didn't like her at all.
This John was just talking nonsense without knowing anything.
At some point, Alexander had moved to stand beside her, blocking John's gaze that had been fixed on Lila. He glanced at John with displeasure. "Staring at someone's face the first time you meet them. John, are you sick in the head?"
"What's wrong with looking? Lila's pretty, so I'm looking."
"She's not someone you can just stare at!"
John clicked his tongue. "Just got married and your possessiveness is already kicking in?"
Having said that, he bumped Alexander's shoulder with an ambiguous smile. "Tell me, where'd you meet this girl? How come I never heard you mention her?"
Alexander's eyes turned cold. "Shut your cheap mouth and mind your own business!"
With that, he looked at Lila and spoke in his usual commanding tone. "Take Grandma to private room 206."
Lila had been feeling uncomfortable listening to their conversation. When she heard Alexander give the order, she immediately helped Gaia go find the room without a word, as if lucky to escape.
After she left, John looked Alexander up and down. "Why are you so fired up today?"
Alexander didn't respond to that. Instead, he directly instructed. "Grandma's asking you to teach Lila to drive. Refuse her."
"What?"
"Are you deaf?"
"Not deaf, but teaching a girl to drive is such a sweet gig. Why would I refuse? I've been bored out of my mind lately. Having something to do would be perfect."
With that, John quickened his pace to catch up with the two of them.
Alexander watched him go, his face extremely dark.
Inside the private room.
After the waiter served dinner, Gaia got straight to the point and told John about teaching Lila to drive. He agreed without hesitation.
They arranged to start tomorrow at nine-thirty in the morning until eleven-thirty, two hours of practice each day, until Lila could drive independently and skillfully.
The driving lesson discussion went very smoothly. Everyone was chatting and laughing, looking quite pleased.
But Alexander's face was dark as iron.
As John raised his glass to his lips, he caught sight of Alexander's terrible expression. A playful smile curved his lips. After setting down the glass, he deliberately fixed his gaze on Lila. "Little rabbit, have you had a boyfriend before?"
Lila paused, then realized he was talking to her.
She didn't much like John's frivolous and flippant manner.
Besides, were they even that familiar? Giving her a nickname. What "little rabbit"? She was no such thing!
Lila met his smiling eyes and said seriously, "Mr. Lucas, you can call me Lila."
"Sure, so have you been in a relationship?"
"Mr. Lucas, this is the first time we've met today. Our relationship isn't close enough to discuss this, is it?"
John glanced at Alexander and indicated, "I'm asking for your husband."
"Is that so?" Lila asked back. After glancing at "her husband" from the corner of her eye, she said without changing expression. "My husband has a mouth of his own. He shouldn't need Mr. Lucas to ask for him, right?"
Hearing this, Alexander, who hadn't spoken, barely curved the corner of his lips, though within a second his expression returned to normal.
He hadn't expected Lila to be quite good with words.
"You little rabbit, how are you so..." John was about to say more when Alexander's sharp eyes shot toward him like daggers. "Cut the crap and eat your food!"
