Chapter 265

Chapter 265

She nodded without hesitation, gesturing with both hands. "Yeah, it looks really good. With your black jacket, you totally have that cool girl vibe."

Isadora pressed her lips togethe, looking a little dejected. "But my parents and my brother all think I don't look like a girl."

"What do you mean you don't look like one? Girls come in all types. It's not like you have to have long blonde waves and wear dresses to count as one. Don't listen to their nonsense. Just be yourself."

"You really think so?"

Lila nodded without hesitation. "Of course."

Isadora met her gaze and smiled for the first time. "I didn't expect you to have such good taste."

Lila replied proudly, "Well, duh. Otherwise, why would Grandma pick me to be your sister-in-law? But seriously, you look really pretty when you smile!"

Isadora looked awayawkwardly.

After a moment, she glanced at Lila again. "I wish my brother had your judgment. Celeste is the real schemer that Arabella talks about. When my brother got hurt in the car accident, she ran off. Someone like that can only share the good times, not the hard ones. I really don't know why he still thinks about her."

Lila froze slightly and asked instinctively, "She ran off when your brother got injured?"

Isadora's expression turned indifferent. "Yeah. And she didn't come back for two years. She probably thought my brother was crippled and was afraid he'd drag her down."

Lila hadn't expected it to be like that.

She couldn't help asking, "Does your brother know?"

"No. He's always thought Grandma drove Celeste away. Grandma said to let him be. It's better for him resent her than to know what kind of woman he actually loved. Besides, we don't have proof that Celeste deliberately ran off. What if she had some unspeakable difficulties? So we haven't spoken badly about his ex-girlfriend in front of him."

"You're all thinking of him."

Isadora scoffed. "My brother only ever made a fool of himself over Celeste."

Lila pressed her lips together.

She wanted to smile along, but somehow couldn't.

Her thoughts had already drifted away.

So, Celeste left when Alexander had his car accident.

Isadora looked at Lila and suddenly said, "Sister-in-law, I think you're great. Why don't you try harder and make my brother fall for you? That way, you can stay my sister-in-law forever."

"Your brother's heart belongs to someone else. No matter how hard I try, it won't work, right?"

"Not necessarily. You two live together every day, so you have plenty of opportunities. Feelings grow over time through constant interaction. Someone you can't see or touch... no matter how much you keep them in your heart, what good does it do?"

Lila smiled faintly. "Isadora, you don't understand men. The more they can't have something, the more they want it."

Isadora rolled her eyes. "Then men are pretty stupid."

"A little," Lila agreed.

The two smiled at each other.

"Let's go. Let's find Grandma and my brother in the living room," Isadora said.

Lila nodded.

In the living room.

Alexander and Gaia had almost finished their conversation.

He had just started wondering why Mrs. Sinclair had been gone so long when he heard movement at the entrance.

Alexander immediately looked over.

Gaia noticed the way he was staring at Lila and held back the smile tugging at her lips.

This grandson of hers was so stubborn. He cared this much, yet still refused to admit he liked her.

Alexander saw Lila walk in with her arm linked through Isadora's and raised his eyebrows slightly. When did those two become so close?
