Chapter 116
Chapter 116
The classmate behind her caught up too. "Ophelia, what are you looking at?"
Ophelia sighed inwardly. "Nothing, let's get to class."
In class, Ophelia sat by the window, lost in thought, while her classmate flipped through a magazine.
"If only I were the Schmidt family's daughter, how amazing would that be!"
"The Schmidt family?" Ophelia was confused. Her classmate excitedly came over with the magazine.
She pointed at a mysterious silhouette in the magazine. "This one! Legend has it, they're the most mysterious and wealthy family in the entire world, even more powerful than the Weston family."
More powerful than the Weston family? Ophelia couldn't help but wonder.
The Weston family already mingled with royal families from various countries like friends.
This legendary Schmidt family was supposedly even more powerful than the Westons.
Could the Schmidt family actually be a royal family themselves?
"I heard the Schmidt family has deep connections with the Eldoria royal family."
Ophelia's mouth twitched. The next second, she heard the professor call her name.
"Ophelia, come with me to my office for a moment."
Ophelia glanced at her classmate and left with the professor.
At the Professor's office, Ophelia had already noticed that the professor seemed to be in a bad mood since class started.
But she didn't know why, until the professor spoke. "Ophelia, I'm leaving soon, going back to my country. I'm really going to miss you."
Ophelia frowned, only then remembering that the professor was also from Eldoria.
"Things are fine here. Why the sudden return?" Ophelia asked.
The professor smiled bitterly. "Actually, I was able to come here because a benefactor secretly funded my artistic pursuits. But now, they're asking me to return."
"Artistic pursuits?"
"Yes, I've always loved Silver Bay's culture and atmosphere, and also, that benefactor's child..."
The professor suddenly stopped mid-sentence.
He looked flustered and covered his mouth. "I've said too much, don't take it to heart. Ophelia, I've arranged everything; the only thing I can't bear is leaving you. I really wish you could come back to Eldoria with me to continue your studies."
Ophelia shrugged helplessly. "Sorry, I can't give you a definite answer right away."
The professor seemed to have expected this and turned to tidy up things on his desk.
Ophelia glanced over casually and suddenly saw a picture.
Her pupils dilated uncontrollably, then suddenly contracted.
"Ophelia, what's wrong?"
Ophelia pointed at the black butterfly pattern on the desk. "That pattern is beautiful."
Unexpectedly, the professor suddenly became nervous. "Really? Ophelia, have you seen this pattern before?"
Sensing the professor's caution, Ophelia realized this pattern must be important.
Just as she was about to look more carefully, the professor suddenly put the picture away. "It's just an ordinary picture. Anyway, I have other things to tell you."
When Ophelia left the professor's office, quite some time had passed.
Back at Pine Ridge Estate, she immediately took off her clothes, exposing the skin on her shoulder blade.
There was a butterfly birthmark there.
Lifelike, as if it would spread its wings and fly away any second.
Just then, the door opened.
Ophelia instinctively pulled up her clothes, but it was a bit too late.
Blake walked in, saw her movement, and walked to the mirror.
He looked at Ophelia in the mirror.
He reached out and pulled down the clothing from her shoulder.
Revealing the beautiful little butterfly.
"It's so pretty, why hide it?"
Ophelia felt hesitant, wondering whether to tell Blake that she'd seen a pattern in the office identical to her birthmark.
The next moment, her shoulder felt warm.
Blake kissed it without warning. Ophelia's heart tightened.
She shyly pushed Blake away. "What are you doing?"
Blake was pushed back against the mirror, standing with one hand in his pocket, watching Ophelia.
Ophelia glanced at him and turned around, only to be embraced from behind.
"What are you planning to do?" Blake asked.
Ophelia took out her phone and opened a photo in her album. "Investigate this person."
Blake was startled. This person seemed to be the one from that photo album of his. "Why are you taking his picture?"
Ophelia grabbed back her phone, eyes downcast. She had never told Blake about her constant desire to find her real identity and family.
She must have family, so she'd always wanted to find her real identity and true family.
She reached into her pocket and felt the jade pendant she always carried with her.
She closed her eyes. "I will find my family, even if there's only the slightest chance."
Blake heard her murmur and frowned. "The day I brought you back from Oak Haven Retreat, I already investigated all your information."
"When Victoria adopted you, you were already five years old. Although you'd lost all your memories, I used all my connections to find information about your past, but there wasn't a single clue."
Ophelia looked up at Blake. "Is everything you're saying true?"
Blake shrugged. "If you don't believe me, I can call Lucas right now."
Just as he said that, Lucas suddenly called, though not about Ophelia's identity, but about work.
"Mr. Weston, for this collaboration, someone from the Schmidt family is coming in person."
Blake's brow furrowed slightly. "Someone from the Schmidt family is coming in person? Who?"
"Seems to be Zander Schmidt. I heard that this trip to Silver Bay isn't just for business. Finnegan Schmidt is apparently dying soon, and they want to find the daughter who's been missing for over twenty years before Finnegan passes away."
"Finnegan is really strange. His daughter's been missing for over twenty years—is there even a point in finding her now?"
Lucas fell silent for a moment. Blake's words left him at a loss for how to respond.
However, he did have another matter to mention. "Mr. Weston, is Ms. Hayes with you right now?"
"Why?"
Blake suddenly looked at Ophelia mysteriously. Lucas said, "That matter you asked me to handle before, it's now already..."
Blake covered the phone and walked to the balcony, turning his back to Ophelia to talk with Lucas.
Ophelia watched his back, feeling puzzled.
Just as Ophelia was about to go out, Blake stepped past her first.
He opened the door and walked away without looking back.
Ophelia was slightly stunned. Though she didn't want to overthink it, those uncontrollable thoughts wrapped around her mind like poisonous snakes. "What could it be about?"
After realizing she cared, Ophelia quickly shook her head.
'No, Ophelia, what are you thinking? Whatever Blake does has nothing to do with you!' Just as she was thinking this, Blake suddenly pushed the door open.
"What?" Ophelia asked.
The two locked eyes. Blake looked at her meaningfully. "Come out with me for a bit."
