Chapter 108
Chapter 108
"I..." Ophelia pinched her thigh hard, trying to stay alert. "I think I'm dizzy."
Blake scooped Ophelia up in his arms and walked outside the bar.
The cold wind hit her face, and she sobered up quite a bit.
But her whole body felt limp as she lay in Blake's arms.
Blake used his coat to shield Ophelia from the wind. Looking down at her dazed little face, he felt a warm current in his heart and said, "Awake now?"
Ophelia wanted to get down. Blake didn't object and supported her as they slowly walked along the roadside until they reached a central park.
Blake found a place to sit down. Ophelia stood in front of him, tilting her head, her eyes full of curiosity. "Why did we stop here?"
Blake patted the seat beside him. "Sit for a while."
Ophelia obediently walked over. Perhaps because she was drunk, she had lost her usual stubbornness and was as gentle as a well-behaved little kitten.
The unhappiness in Blake's heart seemed to vanish the moment he saw her.
"Ophelia, don't try to leave me, or I don't know what I might do." Blake closed his eyes and gently placed a kiss on Ophelia's forehead.
He didn't move for a long time, and Ophelia felt nervous inside.
Actually, she had already sobered up, but she didn't want to break this moment of peace between her and Blake.
Earlier, the scene of Blake feeding Zoey kept flashing through her mind.
She discovered that she couldn't help feeling something very strange.
She admitted that when she saw Zoey by Blake's side, she wanted to drive her away.
But she held back and acted as if nothing had happened.
Yet her constantly beating heart kept telling her that she really cared about the interaction between Blake and Zoey.
"What's wrong? Your heart is beating very fast."
In a moment of inattention, Blake's hand had somehow slipped inside her clothes, reaching into her chest.
A gentle squeeze.
Ophelia couldn't help but let out a soft moan. "What are you doing!"
Seeing Ophelia's embarrassed anger, Blake smiled. "Today is my birthday. What birthday present did you prepare for me?"
At the mention of a present, Ophelia suddenly remembered that before coming to the bar, she had prepared something for Blake.
"I thought Zoey had already prepared one for you."
"Looks like you're jealous." Blake's finger traced across the back of her hand. Her ring finger was bare.
"Why aren't you wearing the ring I gave you?"
Ophelia's eyes darted away, but Blake grabbed her chin. "Ophelia, don't try to escape again. I told you, if you don't wear the ring I gave you, I'll chop off your fingers one by one and put them together with the ring."
Ophelia instinctively covered her mouth. "Pervert."
Blake leaned his forehead close to Ophelia's. "There are even more perverted things. Want to try?"
Ophelia got up and turned to leave. Blake's tall shadow soon caught up with her.
Blake took Ophelia's hand, and the two walked back together.
Isla had been waiting at home. Hearing the car outside, she rushed to open the door. "Mr. Weston, Ms. Hayes, you're finally back."
A rare relaxed smile appeared on Isla's face. "Dinner is ready, Mr. Weston."
Blake looked puzzled until he walked in and saw the table full of dishes. He froze slightly.
Ophelia came out to explain. "Isla told me today is your birthday, so I just made some dishes. I hope you'll like them."
Blake couldn't believe his ears for a moment. "You mean, you made all of these?"
Ophelia looked at Blake without speaking.
He suddenly smiled, reached out to wrap his arm around Ophelia's waist, and pulled her into his embrace. "Thank you."
Ophelia felt he had more to say.
She interrupted, "No need to thank me. I also prepared a cake. Let's go blow out the candles."
Suddenly, Ophelia felt the atmosphere freeze.
Isla's face turned deathly pale, and she began to stutter. "What's wrong?"
Ophelia turned to look. Half of Blake's face was hidden in shadow, his expression unclear.
But she could feel the atmosphere around him was very heavy.
After a long while, just when Ophelia couldn't stand it anymore, Blake spoke. "Nothing. Where's the cake? Let's blow out the candles."
Ophelia turned to go to the kitchen to get the candles.
This was her surprise. She hadn't told Isla and had secretly hidden it in the refrigerator.
But from Isla and Blake's reactions, something seemed very wrong.
When Ophelia wheeled out the cake.
Isla's expression looked even worse, as if she were about to cry any second.
Isla's whole body began to tremble, her eyes constantly looking at Blake. "Mr. Weston, she didn't mean it, please..."
Ophelia could now almost confirm that there was definitely something she didn't know about, and it was related to the cake.
"Keep quiet."
With Blake's words, Isla felt her heart was about to stop beating.
"Let's blow out the candles."
Blake walked behind Ophelia, embraced her, and rested his chin on her shoulder.
Ophelia still had doubts about everything that had just happened.
She turned her head slightly to look at Blake. "Is there something wrong with this cake?"
She could clearly feel Blake's body stiffen when she asked this question.
The candlelight reflected on his profile, flickering between light and shadow.
Blake chuckled softly. "It's just a cake. What could be wrong with it? If you don't blow them out soon, the candles will fall into the cake."
Ophelia followed his gaze and got a fright.
She quickly pulled out the candles and replaced them with new ones. "Now it's fine. Blow out the candles and make a wish."
Blake's expression showed a trace of confusion. "Make a wish?"
Ophelia was slightly stunned. "Yes, make a wish. Haven't you had a birthday cake before?"
Blake's face showed no extra emotion.
He seemed to murmur to himself, "So before eating birthday cake, we have to blow out candles and make a wish?"
Ophelia was greatly surprised. She found it hard to imagine that Blake didn't know something that almost everyone in the world knew.
'Do rich people not like these things?' Ophelia thought to herself.
But Ophelia looked up at Isla beside her.
No, there must be something she didn't know about.
"If you don't like it, we don't have to eat the cake."
Blake looked at Ophelia and curved his lips. "You make a wish for me."
"What?" Ophelia was stunned.
Blake repeated it again.
She had never seen anyone need someone else to make a birthday wish for them.
Although she thought it was strange, Ophelia did as told, putting her hands together. But when it came to making the wish, she didn't know what to wish for.
Blake had everything. What wish could he possibly have?
Just as she was thinking this, her hand suddenly felt warm. Blake embraced her completely from behind. "I hope you'll stay by my side forever, until death."
