Chapter 200 Playing Coy

Chapter 200 Playing Coy

Looking at Sophie's retreating figure, Olivia was very worried.

After thinking for a moment, Charlotte said, "Olivia, actually, I ran into Sophie a few days ago. She was arguing with a woman on the street, and the woman almost hit her. I stepped in to stop it."

"But Sophie wouldn't let me mention it. She said she could handle it herself."

Learning that such a thing had happened, Olivia's expression changed slightly, and she clenched her fists.

Actually, she had a pretty good idea what it was about.

It was probably the friend Sophie had started a business with, who resented her for pulling out.

She had asked about this before, but Sophie had been evasive and changed the subject, telling her not to worry. And since she had just come back with a lot of work to handle, she hadn't pressed further.

Now Olivia felt very guilty, blaming herself for not asking more questions.

She hoped it wasn't too late.

"Thank you, Charlotte."

"You're welcome, we're all family," Charlotte said with a smile.

Hearing Charlotte say this naturally made Olivia happy, but at the same time, she was worried. As the older sister, she still needed to properly prepare a gift for Justin to bring when meeting the York family.

Olivia told Charlotte to rest in Justin's room if she was tired.

"The soup still needs a few more hours."

"Olivia, can I move in then?" Charlotte affectionately took Olivia's arm. "My mom is so angry, she definitely won't let me come home or go to the apartment, and she'll probably freeze all my cards too."

Olivia had no objection. "Then later have Justin go with you to pack some clothes."

Charlotte's lips curved up. "Okay, thank you, Olivia!"

Olivia smiled softly. "No need to be polite, go rest for a bit."

"Okay!" Charlotte didn't stand on ceremony with Olivia and went straight into Justin's room. She opened his closet and took out a t-shirt to change into.

Wearing something simple would help her sleep more comfortably.

When Justin came back with two chickens, Olivia stood by directing him on what to do.

When Justin learned that Charlotte was sleeping in his room and wanted to move in, he was very agreeable.

"Olivia, I'm planning to go to Charlotte's house tomorrow."

"Even if Charlotte doesn't tell her parents, I have to go."

Olivia was pleased that Justin had grown up and was very responsible. "Good, I support you, but you need to bring gifts."

Justin gave a rueful smile. "But I..."

"I know, you just started at the Hayes Group not long ago, you haven't even gotten your first month's salary yet, so you don't have money to buy proper gifts. Let me prepare them for you." Olivia patted Justin's shoulder, both comforting and encouraging him.

Not wanting to put too much pressure on Justin, Olivia made an excuse to go to her room after speaking. "You focus on cooking those two chickens. Oh, and add more water to mine, just enough for Sophie and me to drink."

Justin watched Olivia go, feeling tears prick his eyes.

Even though their parents had left when they were very young, Olivia had always walked ahead of him, shielding him from so much, which was why he could be so carefree now.

Back in her room, Olivia had just opened her computer when she received a call from Cameron.

It was nearly noon - surely he didn't want her to bring him lunch.

"Charlotte is pregnant?" Cameron asked.

"How did you know?" Olivia was surprised. The news shouldn't have spread yet, but she quickly figured out the reason. "So that's why you had Justin stay home?"

"Actually, it was just a guess."

"A guess?"

"Yes, I guessed it."

"So how did you guess?" Olivia felt Cameron was doing this on purpose. She had asked so directly, yet he was still playing dumb. What was he up to?

Unexpectedly, Cameron was clearly being coy. "If you want to know, I'll come over to your place later, and you make me something good to eat."

"I want beef stew."

Olivia didn't know whether to laugh or be annoyed.

She wanted to refuse, but she also wanted to know how Cameron had figured out Charlotte was pregnant.

If Cameron could tell whether a woman was pregnant, wouldn't he have seen through her long ago?

Thinking about her "fake death" plan, which Cameron had seen through in just a few days!

That awful man always liked to play dumb when he knew the truth.

After a pause, Olivia agreed.

"Fine, but if I'm not satisfied with your answer, you'll have to pay a price."

"No problem."

"You agreed so quickly? Aren't you going to ask what price?"

"Any price, as long as I can afford it."

Olivia hung up, not wanting to talk more with Cameron. She felt that the more they talked, the more the conversation would drift, and Cameron would say strange things.

Things that... made Olivia's cheeks burn.

It showed her a different side of Cameron.

While Olivia was working, a window popped up in the lower right corner - it was a friend request from Daphne.

What did Daphne want, adding her as a friend out of the blue?

Then Olivia remembered that she had blocked Daphne, Jennifer, and the others.

Unable to contact her, they were trying this method?

Olivia paused for a moment, then accepted Daphne's friend request.

Soon, Daphne sent a message: [Olivia, this is Daphne. Unblock me right now, I have something very important to tell you.]

If it were anyone else, Olivia might have believed them, but she absolutely didn't trust Daphne.

Daphne: [It's about your parents.]

In the end, Olivia agreed to meet Daphne that afternoon.

Before leaving, Olivia drank some chicken soup first, otherwise Justin wouldn't let her go out.

"Olivia, how does it taste? Pretty good, right?"

"Very good. When Charlotte wakes up, have her give you her opinion too." Olivia changed her clothes. "Oh, and remember to wake Sophie up to eat, and don't let her go out again. Whatever it is can wait until I get back."

Justin nodded repeatedly, following behind Olivia. "Olivia, where are you going now?"

Olivia didn't want Justin to worry, so she chose to hide it. "Meeting a friend, I'll be back soon."

Before Justin could ask more questions, Olivia had already left. She took a taxi to the place she had arranged to meet Daphne - a nicely decorated dessert shop.

Daphne had chosen this place, which surprised Olivia. She hadn't expected Daphne to know about a shop like this.

It didn't seem like Daphne's kind of place at all.

Olivia pushed open the door and looked around, but didn't see Daphne yet.

Last time, she had fallen for Daphne's trick. She couldn't let that happen again.

She didn't go in, but instead chose to go to the coffee shop next door, picking a seat near the entrance where she could clearly see the street outside.

Before Daphne arrived, Olivia received a call from Cameron.

Olivia was surprised. "How did you know where I am?"
