Chapter 196 Losing Temper
Chapter 196 Losing Temper
Justin couldn't reach Charlotte and was extremely anxious. He pulled up his phone's blocked contacts, unblocked Jessica's number, and called her.
After a moment, Jessica answered.
"Why are you calling me?"
"Cut the act. Where's Charlotte?" Justin's voice turned cold. "Don't say I didn't warn you - if anything happens to Charlotte, you won't be able to handle the consequences."
Jessica laughed lightly, completely dismissing Justin's words.
"That's funny. You're Charlotte's boyfriend, and you don't even know where she is. How would I possibly know?"
"Then how do you explain Charlotte's phone being with you!"
"I accidentally found it."
"Liar!"
Olivia had pretty much figured out the situation. She signaled Justin to stop arguing with Jessica - there was no point, because if Jessica didn't want to talk, there was nothing they could do to her.
She took the phone and said coldly, "Ms. Harrison, ask yourself - how has Charlotte treated you?"
Jessica stayed silent.
Olivia continued, "You know in your heart whether she's been good to you. She's never done anything wrong to you. If you have even a shred of conscience, let Charlotte go."
"I'm sure she won't hold it against you."
Of course, once Charlotte was safe, they'd deal with things accordingly.
Jessica stuck to her story. "I found the phone. I have no idea where she is. If you don't believe me, call the police."
Before Olivia could respond, Jessica hung up first.
So arrogant and infuriating.
Olivia handed the phone back to Justin.
"We've found Jessica's address. Let's head over there first," Cameron walked over. "Also, we've notified the York family. They'll provide the surveillance footage from outside the gate as soon as possible."
Learning that Cameron had notified the York family, Justin felt uneasy.
Rowan already didn't approve of him being with Charlotte. Now that something had happened to Charlotte, Rowan probably hated him even more.
Naturally, he didn't blame Cameron for notifying the York family.
It was the right thing to do. After all, no one knew what the situation was, and if something really happened, no one could take responsibility.
The group rushed to Jessica's apartment.
Jessica opened the door, frowning. "Justin, are you guys ever going to stop?"
"Hand over Charlotte. Don't let this get to a point where it can't be fixed. Otherwise, what awaits you is prison." Justin held back his anger, clenching his fists.
Jessica looked annoyed and stepped aside. "Fine, come in and search all you want. See if she's here or not."
Justin didn't care about anything else. He immediately rushed inside, searching everywhere, but couldn't find any trace of Charlotte.
Could Charlotte's disappearance really have nothing to do with Jessica?
Olivia quietly observed Jessica's expression and found her very calm, not at all like someone with a guilty conscience.
But how did Charlotte's phone end up with Jessica?
She asked this question.
"You say you found the phone. Where exactly did you find it?"
Jessica had her answer ready.
She answered readily, "Anyway, I don't know where Charlotte is. You've searched and found nothing. Can you leave now? Otherwise, I'll call the police."
Olivia looked at Justin.
"Since we didn't find her, it must be a misunderstanding. But please return Charlotte's phone to us."
Jessica brought over Charlotte's phone and handed it to Olivia.
"If there's nothing else, stop bothering me."
Before leaving, Olivia couldn't help but say, "Ms. Harrison, you should know very well what kind of person Charlotte is. Otherwise, I don't think she would have been caught off guard by you so easily."
They had already warned Charlotte to be careful of Jessica. Charlotte had always followed their advice and done well.
But if Jessica played the victim to Charlotte, then she thought things might be different.
Seeing Jessica still so stubborn, Olivia let it go, guessing that the incident might not have much to do with Jessica directly, but Jessica definitely knew something or saw something.
Back in the car, Olivia shared her theory.
Jared nodded. "Right, I think so too."
Cameron, as the driver, was busy starting the car and naturally couldn't spare attention to respond to Olivia.
Cameron glanced at Jared with displeasure.
Cameron thought to himself: 'What do you mean "I think so too"? Trying to make everyone think you two are so in sync?'
"That's probably how it is."
To say something different from Jared but still support Olivia's view, Cameron thought for a moment before speaking.
Knowing what Cameron was thinking, Jared's lips curved slightly. "In that case, we need to investigate where Jessica went today. We might find some clues."
"Having them investigate will take time. Let's get something to eat first." Through the rearview mirror, Cameron noticed Olivia's small movements and knew she was hungry, so he made this suggestion.
Olivia was slightly surprised and glanced at Cameron.
But the next second, Justin received a call from Rowan.
"Justin, you asked me to let you be with Charlotte, saying you'd make her happy and protect her. So why has something happened to Charlotte now?" Rowan was frantic, knowing Charlotte was in trouble.
She blamed everything on Justin. "It's been this long since it happened, and you still haven't found Charlotte. I won't let you two be together anymore. When Charlotte comes back, you're breaking up."
Justin wanted to say something, but Rowan didn't give him any chance. She hung up directly.
The atmosphere in the car became even more oppressive.
"Olivia, what do you want to eat?" Cameron asked.
Perhaps because of Rowan's words just now, Olivia grew irritated, and as a pregnant woman, her emotions were unstable.
She frowned. "I'm not hungry."
"If you're hungry, then stop the car and go eat yourself. We'll keep looking."
Cameron pressed his lips together and didn't say anything.
To make matters worse, Jared added fuel to the fire. "Yeah, if you're hungry, you can go eat first. Just let me drive."
Now Cameron wanted to speak even less.
But driving around aimlessly like this wasn't a solution either.
Justin spoke up to ease the tension.
"Let's find a place to sit down and wait."
But without Olivia speaking up, Cameron didn't stop the car.
Justin quietly glanced at Olivia and nudged her with his elbow, signaling her not to be like this.
It dawned on Olivia that she hadn't been very nice just now. No matter what, she shouldn't have lost her temper at Cameron. Just as she was about to speak, Cameron received a call from Kurt.
"Mr. Hayes, Ms. York has been found. She's currently at the police station giving a statement."
"Charlotte's been found." Cameron first told Justin in the back seat, then said, "Okay, we'll head over now."
Kurt paused. "But Mrs. York is also there."
