Chapter 209 Pretending to Be Weak

Emily used to be a socialite in Skyhaven City, known by Tomas as a member of the Perez family.

It was shocking to see someone like her, once so high and mighty, resort to trespass and even break the law after falling from grace.

The crowd loved watching a socialite's downfall, so they all pulled out their phones to record the scene.

Emily trembled and shrank into a corner, looking pitiful.

But this time, her act of playing the victim wasn't as effective as before. Many people were no longer buying it, and their stares and insults were overwhelming her.

Alice, who always got irritated seeing Emily's weak facade, glared at her with disdain, as usual.

Alice wanted to vent her anger and, in front of everyone, started recounting Emily's past misdeeds.

"Did you all know? Jeremy Martin used to be Elizabeth's boyfriend. Emily, her half-sister, shamelessly seduced Jeremy and stole him from Elizabeth. And even after Elizabeth returned to the country, Emily flaunted it at the engagement party and later tried to seduce Elizabeth's current boyfriend!"

Elizabeth knew Emily had her sights set on Matthew, practically throwing herself at him whenever she saw him.

However, when Alice referred to Matthew as her current boyfriend, Elizabeth frowned slightly.

Elizabeth and Matthew's relationship was already on shaky ground, and they might actually break up one day.

But seeing Alice finally getting to vent her anger, Elizabeth didn't say much and let her continue.

Alice, always one to dig up gossip, knew a lot and took this chance to spill everything she knew.

Elizabeth witnessed it firsthand, and the crowd was left speechless by the series of scandals.

Emily, isolated and helpless, had her past actions exposed.

After finishing, Alice leaned in with a smirk and told her, "Emily, your luck is about to change. With so many people posting these videos online, you're going to be famous! You can pretend to be pitiful and become an internet celebrity! It might be a bit embarrassing, but isn't surviving enough for you?"

Emily, unable to bear it any longer, looked up and met Alice's gaze.

After enduring so much humiliation, Emily's eyes were filled with rage.

She could tolerate others' insults, as they were ignorant and easily manipulated.

But Alice, who came from a humble background and only got to where she was because of her connection to Elizabeth, was too much for Emily, a former Perez family socialite, to endure.

Furious, she raised her fist, ready to punch Alice's smug face.

But Elizabeth wouldn't tolerate such behavior. As soon as Emily raised her hand, Elizabeth swiftly twisted her arm.

The crowd didn't quite catch what happened; they only heard a scream, and suddenly Emily was pinned to the ground, her pale face pressed against the floor.

Elizabeth tightened her grip, smiling calmly as she asked, "What's wrong, Emily? You come to me for help after screwing up, and now you want to hit my people? Shouldn't an apology look like an apology? Do you even know what happens if you completely piss me off? How can you still have such a temper after falling so low?"

Emily struggled to breathe, her face blushing. She grabbed at Elizabeth's hand but couldn't break free.

Elizabeth's mocking words continued, and everyone could see she was genuinely angry because of the severity of the situation.

"Don't say I didn't warn you. If you blow this chance, you'll end up in jail."

Emily understood that their relationship had deteriorated to this point, and Elizabeth wouldn't show mercy.

This was indeed Emily's last chance.

She didn't dare struggle anymore, lowering her head obediently, letting herself be choked, and begging for mercy.

Emily said, "I'm sorry."

Elizabeth smiled and cut her off. "I don't accept your apology."

The sudden twist made Emily look up in shock, just in time to see Elizabeth's malicious smile.

She had been played by Elizabeth!

Emily's anger flared, "How dare you fool me?"

She gritted her teeth, suppressing her anger and pretending to be weak, putting on a show for the crowd.

"I swear, I've never done anything to wrong you. Jeremy and I got together because he had already broken up with you! I never wronged you. Just because I'm Jessa's daughter, do you blame me for her mistakes? Could I choose my birth?"

Emily bit her lip, tears streaming down her face, looking pitiful.

Still being choked and lying on the ground, she tearfully pleaded.

"I just want to survive. I don't want to take anything from you. Can't you give me a way out? We're family. I used to take care of you. Do you have to drive me to the brink?"

If Alice hadn't seen everything over the years, she might have believed Emily's words.

Emily had done plenty of bad things and said many provocative and humiliating things. She was just too hypocritical, always manipulating others to help her.

Sure enough, after Emily's speech, some onlookers were swayed.

They looked at the always strong Elizabeth, and someone couldn't help but speak up.

"Don't be too harsh. Can't you give Emily a way out?"

A way out? Elizabeth suddenly looked up and slapped Emily across the face, coldly smiling.

"You're such a bitch. How dare you still argue!"
