Chapter 293 Premeditated Action
"Uncle Barry, save me! Aunt Tessa, save me!"
Seeing Mandy beaten up like this, Barry and Tessa didn't want to stay here for even one more minute. Now that Mandy was calling out to them for help, how could they dare?
Barry was the first to react. He grabbed Tessa's hand and, pressing against the wall, prepared to leave Mandy's hospital room.
Barry said, "Mandy, this is between you and your sister. Tessa and I won't get involved in your business."
"You two talk it out and handle this slowly."
After Barry finished speaking, he pulled Tessa and turned to leave.
Elena looked at them coldly and said sternly, "Stop."
Just that one word scared Barry. They immediately stood still like children who had done something wrong, not daring to move another step.
Tessa quickly explained, "Elena, tricking you to Silver Willow River Bridge to harm you—that was Mandy's own idea and her own doing. We didn't know about it. This has nothing to do with us."
"If you need to vent, just go after her."
"I need to tell you, you've already hit her, but you can't hit us. We're pretty innocent here."
Tessa was terrified. With the force Elena had just used to slap Mandy, if those slaps landed on her face, they could probably give her a brain hemorrhage.
At her age, it wasn't worth getting on Elena's bad side over a bit of money and property.
So Tessa immediately backed down. However arrogant she had been two hours ago when she went to Elena's house demanding property, that's how cowardly she was now.
"Yes, yes, Elena, we really are innocent. We just wanted to get a little advantage; we didn't want to harm you. It was Mandy who said she wanted to get all of the Reed family's assets under her name, in her hands. This has nothing to do with us."
"The house you live in is yours. We won't covet it anymore. It's all yours, everything is yours."
"Now, can you let us leave?"
After Tessa finished, Barry also quickly dropped his greed and stopped talking about wanting Elena's property.
Seeing Barry and Tessa like this, Mandy was so angry that she wanted to jump out of the hospital bed and slap them both hard.
Just moments ago, this shameless couple had encouraged her to fight Elena for the family's things, saying they would take care of her carefully and keep her healthy.
But now, just because Elena had slapped her twice, they were scared into this state. Barry and Tessa were completely unreliable.
"Uncle Barry, Aunt Tessa, how can you do this? Just now, you clearly said to let me fight Elena's children for the Reed family's assets."
"Now you're lying through your teeth, saying I wanted to fight Elena for the assets? How can you do this?"
Mandy shouted at Barry and Tessa.
Didn't she know that Barry and Tessa had always been a couple with no moral bottom line? Otherwise, they wouldn't have been like parasites, depending on Christine for so many years.
It could be said that if they hadn't given Christine some evil ideas back then, forcing Christine to get money for them, Christine wouldn't have, at such a young age, gotten involved with Robert and caused the death of Elena's mother.
Now they wanted to wash their hands of it.
Seeing Mandy say this, Barry was afraid the disaster would spread to him.
He quickly defended himself, "Mandy, what you're saying makes no sense. What do you mean I encouraged you to fight Elena for the assets? You're clearly the one who's greedy."
"Besides, tricking Elena to Silver Willow River Bridge and throwing her in the water to drown her—that was all your doing, wasn't it? Are you saying we encouraged you to do that, too?"
"Mandy, you can't be like this. Whatever's between you two sisters has nothing to do with us. We don't want to get involved. Tessa, let's go."
After Barry finished, he once again grabbed Tessa's arm, and the two prepared to leave.
They thought they could just leave like that? How could Elena agree?
These two jerks—ever since she returned to Pinewood City, they'd been causing trouble. All along, she hadn't had time to deal with them, but they kept provoking her again and again.
If that's how it was, Elena didn't need to show them any more mercy.
Elena's face turned cold. Like scolding children, she snapped at Barry and Tessa, "Did I say you could leave?"
At Elena's words, Barry and Tessa's legs went weak with fear.
They immediately stopped and stood before Elena with forced smiles.
It was still the same weak explanations. Elena snorted coldly and cut him off directly.
"Ever since I returned to Pinewood City, you two have been making trouble for me, openly and secretly."
"All this time, I didn't want to be your enemy and didn't have time to deal with you. But you kept getting more arrogant, and today you actually came to my home trying to take my property?"
"I've already notified my lawyer and collected evidence. You two better get ready to be defendants."
Hearing that Elena had found a lawyer and was going to sue them in court, Barry and Tessa's faces turned deathly pale.
Elena continued, "Over these years, you've taken quite a bit from the Reed family and borrowed a lot of money. I've already found evidence of that, too. Next, I'll also sue you to make you return every penny you've spent from our Reed family."
"Barry, what you owe others must eventually be repaid. Every penny you owe the Reed family, you'll have to pay back."
Elena's eyes were very determined, showing no sign of letting Barry and Tessa off.
Now Barry and Tessa were completely dumbfounded.
They never imagined Elena would go after them so ruthlessly. If Elena really sued them and made them return everything they'd taken from the Reed family over the years, they would have nothing left.
At this moment, to protect the assets under his name, Barry's mind started working quickly.
He understood that if he wanted Elena not to sue him, he had to show sincerity right now—sincerity that would be enough to make Elena's anger disappear.
Thinking of this, Barry quickly changed his tune.
He said urgently, "Elena, please don't sue me. After all, we were once relatives."
"I'm willing to make up for my mistakes. I'm willing to testify to the police that Mandy's attempt to harm you this time was a premeditated act."
After hearing Barry's words, Mandy, lying in the hospital bed, already beaten by Elena to the point where she couldn't get up, went ballistic.
