Chapter 294: Premeditation

Chapter 294 Premeditation

She had exhausted every ounce of her strength and nearly lost her life escaping from international waters.

As soon as she got back to Pinewood City, she went to find Barry and Tessa, using their home as a temporary place to stay. Later, she contacted the rich man she had slept with before, and he funded her plastic surgery.

To harm Elena, she had mentioned her plans to Barry and Tessa more than once.

Back then, she thought Barry and Tessa would definitely stand firmly by her side.

She never expected that everything she had told Barry and Tessa would become evidence they'd use to send her to prison.

Mandy was furious. She cursed at Barry and Tessa, and their fragile family relationship completely fell apart in that moment.

Soon, the police rushed into Mandy's hospital room.

A young officer showed Mandy an arrest warrant.

"Mandy, you're suspected of a murder case and need to cooperate with our investigation. Now that you've recovered enough, you need to come with us to the detention center."

The officer's words made Mandy collapse weakly onto her hospital bed.

To please Elena, Barry and Tessa immediately spoke up, "Officer, we're witnesses. We can prove that the murder Mandy committed was premeditated."

Hearing Barry's words, the officer decided to take Barry and Tessa along as well.

As for Elena, she stood in the hospital corridor, watching Mandy being taken away, a cold smile appearing at the corner of her mouth.

It turned out she had returned to Pinewood City simply to reclaim some things that belonged to her mother, Cecilia.

Now, she had become the final victor of the Reed family.

She had not only reclaimed what belonged to Cecilia but had also made sure that everyone who had hurt Cecilia got what they deserved, one by one.

A few hours later, Harrison was wheeled out of the operating room. He lay on the bed with his eyes closed, his face pale.

Seeing Harrison like this, Elena couldn't hold back her tears.

Thinking about how Harrison had risked his life to save her, how he had given everything for her, Elena was deeply moved. Looking at the whole world, who else would disregard their own life for her safety?

The three children stood by Harrison's bed.

Lily turned her head and looked at Mia beside her with tears in her eyes.

She asked softly, "Mia, is Daddy going to die?"

Mia quickly said, "No, don't worry. Dr. Parker's surgical skills are so good, Daddy will be fine."

Elena studied medicine, and Mia and Connor had grown up by her side, seeing all kinds of surgeries. If Elena hadn't been injured this time and couldn't hold the scalpel steady, the surgery Harrison just had would have been a piece of cake.

"But why is Daddy lying here not talking?"

Lily asked Mia again.

Mia said, "Well..."

Not knowing much about medicine, she really couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation.

Connor gently patted Lily's head and said, "Daddy can't talk because of the anesthesia. Once the anesthesia wears off, he'll wake up."

"Don't worry, he's not going to die."

Connor's words made Lily nod quietly. The three children were still too young to really understand life and death, which is why they talked about it so freely in front of adults.

Elena stood beside Harrison. She reached out, wanting to hold his hand, but all the IV tubes on Harrison made her afraid that she might accidentally hurt him.

Victoria looked at the exhausted Elena. She came to Elena's side and spoke to her gently.

"Elena, Harrison's surgery took quite a long time, and you've been waiting for quite a while. You look really tired. Why don't you take the children home to rest?"

Victoria meant well.

She knew how weak Elena's body must be after going through a life-and-death situation. If she didn't rest, she probably wouldn't be able to hold up.

But Elena didn't agree.

She shook her head and said to Victoria, "Mrs. Frost, please take the children home."

"I'll stay here with him. I'll leave once he's completely out of danger."

Seeing Elena like this, Victoria felt sorry for her. She had already heard from Nathan that Harrison's life wasn't in danger, and she wanted to persuade Elena to go home.

But Elena stood stubbornly by Harrison's bed and wouldn't leave.

Charlotte saw the situation, and knowing Elena as she did, she knew Elena absolutely wouldn't leave easily unless Harrison was out of danger.

She said to Victoria, "Mrs. Frost, you should take the children home."

"I'll stay here with Elena and Mr. Frost. As soon as Mr. Frost wakes up, I'll contact you right away. Please don't worry."

Although Victoria was also worried about Harrison's safety, she didn't want her grandchildren to stay here.

She left two bodyguards to handle security, and then she left the hospital with the three children.

That night felt very long. Elena stayed by Harrison's bed the whole time. When she got tired, she would rest her head by his hand, gently holding his hand and calling his name.

She didn't know how long she waited or how many times she called out.

But Harrison still showed no signs of waking up.

Elena couldn't help but complain, "Harrison, can you please wake up soon?"

"If you don't wake up, I'll owe you way too much for the rest of my life."

"You said you wanted to marry me. I've thought it over carefully and decided to accept your proposal. Harrison, when are you planning to marry me?"

"Harrison, I've said so many nice things to you. Why aren't you waking up yet? If you don't wake up soon, I'm going to be upset."

"Harrison, Harrison."

Elena murmured until she was too exhausted to have any strength left, but Harrison, lying on the bed, still showed no signs of wanting to wake up.

Standing to the side, Charlotte couldn't help but feel moved. That day at Silver Willow River Bridge, Harrison had risked his life for Elena. Just that alone was enough to win Elena's heart.

It seemed that before long, she would see this family living together in harmony and happiness.

The first ray of morning sunlight shone into the hospital room, and Harrison's eyelids twitched slightly.
